The strap broke after 10 uses + you have to replace TRANSMITTER regularly for $25 – Now the hassle of trying to replace. Also, why can't they make these watches so you can turn them off when you're not using them, to save money, hassle and the environment? I now see another review here that th e tansmitter is designed to die regularly. I'm truly disgusted and will NEVER buy Polar again now. Companies need to LEARN: with the internet consumers have the power. TO REVIEW !

Strap – I have had mine for 2 yrs now and the strap has never come undone. And I train hard. X Very strange. I sit it right under my bust and have never had any issues. Thats such a shame

Planned obsolescence – I purchased this product as it was used and recommend by the biggest loser show. It worked ok as far as I could tell for a little while. I followed all instructions as listed in the handbook. After a couple months I lost interest and put it into storage and again followed storage instructions. I go to use it again and the watch battery is flat. No… Read more

problem, I replaced that and watch works but no signal from heart.

I'm pretty sure I'm still breathing so I figure the battery in transmitter is flat so I replace that also.

Still no signal.

I replace battery again incase the first was a dud.

Still no signal.

I contact polar help desk and they advise me the transmitter strap only lasts 6 to 12 months maximum and I have to replace every 6 months or so at a cost of $25 and that the strap is not covered under the warranty.

Disgusting.

Needless to say I will not be replacing it and the unit is in the garbage where the company's ethics reside.

Great product ruined by design flaw – This is basically a great heart rate monitor except for one major problem, the strap will not stay fastened! it works itself 'undone' the second exercise becomes slightly strenuous or the band is slightly wet from sweat, so much so you can't use it because the hook just keeps sliding out of the loop every few seconds. It does not matter if the… Read more

hook is fastened 'over' or 'under' the loop when thread it through. I have tried sewing the loop up to make it smaller which was no help and now have to use a safety pin to TRY to get the strap in place. Pretty poor design really

Bad watch – It's a basic watch, that provides exactly what I need for my workouts, but after 6 months of using it, mine shuts out now too. I believe you should get longer out of a $100 watch than that. Polar were terrible to deal with as far as warranty is concerned, you have to pay the postage to send the whole watch back to SA, after already being sent two… Read more

replacement chest pieces, and buying a replacement battery, that did absolutely nothing to fix the problem. Clearly some sort of glitch in their product, as this seems to be common problem in this particular watch, I most definitely won't be buying a Polar again!!!!

Best HRM for the price – This no-frills heart rate monitor is easy to use and gives an accurate reading of heart rate, calorie burn as well as some clever features such as optimal zone and a workout timer. It is cheap and comes in lost of colors for both men and women. I have really been pushing my workouts harder since having the FT4 and I love that it keeps me motivated.  Show 3 replies
