Unprofessional company, son-in-laws car was nearly reposed due to arrears, no warning messages, no request for arrears, my daughter repeatedly requested that Correspondence be sent her but wasn't, company failed to process payment on public holiday creating arrears. Now I see on other posts that early payout fees apply. Big contender for the Shonky Awards.
Their website is always glitchy so you cannot login to the portal. When I called I spoke with the employee, and he basically knew about it, said it's a common complaint and has been like that for some months. Then you try contact them through the website contact form and it says it's not working. For a company that loans however many millions of dollars or more, this is below substandard. Rubbish. a 'Third Party Debt Collector' at my home demanding the weekly payment or 'Repossession' of the car! It was traumatising to say the least. Confirmed there was no communication from Powertorque, (phone records and email analysis performed). We're now going through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority as we still haven't received communication from Powertorque, and a 'Repossession Fee' of $698.92 has been added to the account. Find that cost break down in the contract? Non-existent. Stay far away from this company - and please report them to the AFCA. https://www.afca.org.au/make-a-complaint
Update 20th June 2023: I can confirm, your Customer Experience Team, [Name Removed], was only assigned to my case when I launched an official complaint with the AFCA and posted this review. The outcome of the complaint with the AFCA is that you agreed to remove all charges for repossession as you could not prove the correspondence was received. I signed a Terms of Agreement on 2nd June 2023, stating that you were going to remove all charges on the terms I dropped the complaint with the AFCA. I have sent multiple emails, to [Name Removed], since this date requesting an updated Payout Quote and Account Statement to show the charges were dropped. I just received these documents this morning, 20th June 2023, 18 days later (The TOA stated you only had 10 days to action), and the charges are still showing on my account. I have sent you an email giving you until 5pm today to remove the charges as per the TOA, or I will be reinstating the complaint with the AFCA. To anyone reading this, please submit your complaint to the AFCA (https://www.afca.org.au/make-a-complaint) they are well aware of the behaviour of this company and will be completely on your side, very helpful when there's a company like Powertorque still operating in Australia.

POWER walked... off with my money! – They contacted me originally advising of an Admin Fee Issue Remediation in which I was to receive a specified credit back to my bank account within 7 business days. Wish I didn't have to give a star. This company lacks ethics and human morals. I wish that I had looked at these reviews before entering a contract/nightmare. how much cost per day I'm accruing without their permission. There's a grey area within the law, and these snakes are exploiting it and any Australian that they can entrap. Trust me, stay well away from these con artists, because they are professional, not in communication, morals, or ethics. They are con artists at their craft. I have paid out my loan early, as was discussed when I took out the loan but little did I know that I would also have to pay another $1025.00 to exit the loan early OR pay $8 per month until 2028. Never will I do this again

house sitting my home and had them call me to say there is a tow truck and debt collectors here to take your car away as u have missed payments (2) mind you anyway I paid it and when I came back I re financed with another lender. Fast forward and back in October I bought a new car financed back with power torque finance. On the 16th of May 2025 I paid out the loan in full and called up to do so, so I could confirm that future direct debit payments would be stopped, and I could receive a letter of payout for record. On the 22nd of May they direct debited a payment out of my account that was obviously not meant to happen as my loan was paid out in full the previous week. I then called up on the 23rd of May to ask why and they said it was a mistake on their end and after 3 to 5 business days I will have my money back in my account fast forward to today the 6th of June after 4 phone calls over 15 days and 20 to 30 minutes on wait every time I called to just hear sorry over and over again we will fast track process it today please wait another 3 to 5 business days to get your money I have completely exhausted all my time and patience with them I have now taken it to Australian financial complaints authority to deal with. We live in a time where money is tight at times and very valuable as we are a young family with 3 young children the money we earn is used for food and other responsibilities, yet they can take money, and we are meant to just shut up and wait to see when we get it. Please if there is anybody out there thinking of getting finance with them, please reconsider all you need to do is read the reviews to understand they are criminals and don't give 2 craps about people they just take take take and don't help out at all NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER will I use this disgraceful finance company again it has definitely taken a toll on my stress and mental health

Do not go with them. The loan was paid out Tuesday and last night they took money out for the loan which was paid out, when I called them they said it was taken out than closed so in a week it will be cleared and than 3 to 5 business days to get the money back. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

This is the second time power torque tried to take advantage of us. We were good customer but each time we went to refinance they tried to shift us. If your looking to refinance with them don't. Get another quote they will not look after ypu. Just wave goodbye and walk away.

Avoid like the plague. Will take money from your account and make it very difficult to get back – One of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. Had a significant car loan with them and at one point I made an additional payment of over $10k which I did by changing the direct debit amount for that single payment. Once this was cleared I changed the payment back to the original payment amount. The following month when payment was due I… Read more
noticed the payment amount did not change (some weeks after I purposefully changed it online) so I changed it again. Payment day came and they took the same amount again over $10k!
Called up and they politely said no issues and they would be able to refund it (minus the normal amount due that month) said it would take 7 business days to clear. Waited the full 7 business days to only receive an email on the last day to tell me that in order to process the payment they would need a bank statement to show the amount that came out! I called them at this point and when they actually picked up they stated it’s our policy for any refund amounts of that value. Anyway after a very frustrating call I confirmed with them that they had received all they needed to issue the refund. “The operator said yes it is now with the bank to process” and it will take several more business days to process. Fast forward another 7 business days I get an email to say they now need a statutory declaration for why I need the refund! At this point I have been minus over $10k for over 2 weeks as they keep making excuses. Called again got another pathetic apology and some excuse that they don’t know why I wasn’t told this on my first call.
Ended up paying out my loan in full rather than dealing any further with this poor excuse for a company. Thankfully I had the means however if I did not I could have been financially crippled by the actions of this company. Do not do business with this company!

Shop around first – Bought a new car through them had 11 percent interest rate, every single time I paid was charged $1.50. Every month there's $ 8 account keeping fees if you request anything in writing it's another $16. Stay away – Power Torque Finance is a clone of Toyota Finance who are in the midst of a class action. I dealt with Toyota while financing a Hilux and that service was baaaaaad. Shock horror, Power Torque is no better. Only stating facts here. Application for Hardship (due to work hours reduction) ignored. Not an email or even a phone call. Pretty much left me… Read more
in the wind. But hey, what do you expect from a finance company that can't be bothered about its customers. I will muddle through, but I'll be making sure I inform everyone on their less then stellar customer service.
Update 12/03/2024: Since my less then stellar review of Power Torque Finance I have been harassed both by email and phone to contact them to "discuss" my options weeks after my initial inquiry (not application). Today I received an email declining my 'application' for hardship status which I never made. I am now forced to seek legal advice for the fraudulent claim made by this company. If you are already signed up with this company my advice is to go over everything with a fine tooth comb.
