Powertech 1500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter
2 reviews
Don't perform as stated – This is the 2nd 2000w PSW inverter I have purchased from Jaycar. The 1st came with a remote on/off switch, not the 2nd. A small reduction in weight with the 2nd too. Quality?. Neither would consistently run a small microwave. They kept cutting out. These are cheap units that don't perform as stated. Buy a better quality one.
Purchased in for $499.
Powertech Inverter Burns Out Quickly – I have a small off-grid solar system and needed a new invertor with a 230VAC outlet so that I could plug in my TV and fridge directly to the inverter. I bought the Powertech because it has this plug-in feature. I used the first one for about a month and then it gave off a sharp crackle sound and died. I went to Jaycar and they gave me a replacement. I used the replacment for about a month and it to died in the same manner - sharp crackle sound, then dead. My energy needs are well within the specification of the inverter so overload of the machine is not an issue. I did notice the Powertech inverter runs very hot. The batteries weren't hot and the charge controller wasn't hot, but the Powertech inverter would get very hot. So much so that I had a fan blowing on it all the time it was in use, which was during the day. I don't use my solar system overnight as my battery capacity isn't big enough for that. I have found the Powertech 1500W inverter to be useless for handling even small loads. It does not perform as promised and is not fit for purpose.
