DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We have had the worst experience ever. We took out full insurance cover for our car rental. They are refusing to pay without giving reason. There is no one to talk to so if you have a problem all you get is AI generated responses. The terms and conditions the AI generated responses are sending are incorrect
Stay away from this company! I purchased excess cover from RentalCover for a motorhome I traveled with in Norway. When I filed the claim, I uploaded all the required documents, and after 3 months they approved the payout, but the money never arrived. I have sent them dozens of emails since then, and they are simply ignoring me.

Extremely disappointed with Rental Cover. Their communication is terrible, and trying to get in touch with someone for assistance is nearly impossible. There is no reliable way to contact customer service when you need to make changes or resolve an issue. I’ve spent far too much time trying to get answers without success. insurance-related services should have accessible and responsive customer support, but that has not been my experience at all. The lack of customer service and poor communication make this a frustrating company to deal with. I would not recommend them based on my experience.

Excellent experience – I had an accident in a hire car and fortunately I was covered by them. The paper work was easy to fill out and they constantly kept me updated where my claim was at. It took 2 days for me to receive a full refund (in my bank account) of the money I had paid to the hire company. They did exactly what they claimed they would do if you are involved in an accident. I give them 5 stars and will use them again ( if they’ll have me haha).
I chose RentalCover for the promise of 1-3 day processing, but it's now been 5 business days with zero communication. To make matters worse, the website's claim portal is completely broken for me, showing a database error every time I log in. I need someone from the Claims Team to look at Ref: 4568-QMMS-INS manually and confirm my documents were received.

First class service. We have used them many times before but never had to make a claim- until now. Claim was lodged and paid into our account within 3 days. Claim process was quite easy but you do have to have photos to back up your claim. In this case we thought the damage claim by SIXT in cairns was actually quite minimal. under the car, details given didn’t match the car hired and our photos showed no sign of damage. So we believe a strong case could have been mounted to challenge the claim. Anyway RentalCover paid up in full so we will reluctantly pass on the money to SIXT. We can only say RentalCover handled the claim very well and we can and will recommend them highly
They are impossible to reach, no phone numbers, no email that they will actually reply and the online Chat that only send you automated emails and never reply. Aud2000 gone!

We visited the UK and a had an accident in a rental car. We booked through booking.com. A bus while we were parked hit our vehicle. We did all the paperwork through budget and paid the amount to cover repairs knowing we were insured through rental.com. That was in August. It is now Mid November and we still have received no refund from rental.com

Follow-up · It was a bit unusual — I submitted the complaint, but I didn’t receive any confirmation email or response. I could still see the progress online. I didn’t file a detailed report . I wasn’t exactly sure what the damage was. The rental company sent me a photo showing several different damages, and I wasn’t sure which specific one they were referring to.

things that I cannot obtain easily or at all. They only work by email and no phone is available. My personal insurance company states that they are a difficult business to deal with. I see there are a number of bad reviews here, but our experience was positive. We had windscreen damage on our rental car - a stone chip that expanded into a crack, and we were charged $1161 for the repair. We put in a claim to rentalcover.com, and the claim was approved in 2 days and paid straight away. Show reply
Follow-up · We did not need roadside assistance, so the claim was straightforward. We supplied copy of rental agreement, copy of damage report, photo of damage and proof that we had paid for the repair, together with bank details, and the claim process online was pretty simple.

I rented a car from Thrifty through Booking.com and chose to add a car insurance policy from RentalCover.com. After purchasing the insurance, I received a link to access the RentalCover portal. required documents to the RentalCover portal. The claims process was straightforward, with each step clearly explained and supported by helpful images to minimise confusion. To help speed up the assessment, I also attached copies of my email correspondence with the car rental company.
Approximately 5–6 hours after submitting my claim, I received an email from RentalCover.com confirming that it had been approved. I then logged back into the portal, entered my bank details, and the payment was processed almost immediately. The funds were deposited into my bank account within five minutes.
Overall, the claims process was quick, simple, and hassle-free, and I was impressed by how efficiently everything was handled.

RentalCover operates as a third-party insurer, which means that if something happens, you must first pay the car rental company out of pocket and then claim from RentalCover. They require a large amount of documentation, but processing was quick. In terms of reimbursement, they paid in the currency stated in the incident forms from the country I… Read more
visited, which is reasonable. However, because I did not have a bank account in that currency (as is typical for travellers), they converted the payment to my home currency using an extremely poor exchange rate—far below market rates. As a result, I lost about $600 AUD on a $5,000 AUD claim. I also asked them to pay into my multi-currency Revolut account, which would have avoided this issue. After three months and dozens of emails, this request was just ignored, and I was repeatedly asked to provide standard bank account details.
This is likely to be a common issue, as most people renting cars do so while travelling abroad and typically do not have a local bank account. In my view, this is a key trick behind the idea of third-party insurers, where customers effectively lose money due to very low exchange rates applied during reimbursement.

I can’t say enough good things about Rental Cover. When I was shopping around for insurance, I found their prices were competitive with other companies I looked at – nothing outrageous, just fair and reasonable. Then life happened. really showed their true colors. I submitted my claim half-expecting the usual runaround – you know, endless questions, requests for more documentation, weeks of waiting and wondering. Instead? They had my claim fully approved in just 2-3 days. No interrogation, no hassle, no drama. Just straightforward help when I needed it most. That kind of experience speaks volumes. When you’re dealing with the aftermath of an accident, the last thing you need is your insurance company adding to your stress. Rental Cover understood that, and they came through. If you’re looking for rental car insurance, I’d absolutely point you in their direction. They’ve earned my trust, and that’s not something I say lightly.

Do NOT use this company I have never had such a poor experience with an insurance company. The accident happened 3 months ago and I lodged my claim immediately. the accident and accepted responsibility, I provided all their details to both rental cover and the hire company. I have now been following up on this claim for 3 months now, to both emails (the admin and the complaints one) with no reply. I have had no correspondence apart from system generated emails confirming they're still reviewing, and even then the last one was from April 11th. This is confirmed by my account on their portal as well.
I work in insurance myself, I know first hand things can get tricky, but the lack of support or any communication is ridiculous.
If there is no resolution this week I will be escalating further.

I applied for an insurance claim online. I received no communication when it was completed. Nor was I aware that I would be responsible for forwarding the payment to the rental company. And finally, they did not cover part of the claim, without an explanation or recourse. The discount they offer is not worth the service they don't provide.

But don’t worry, our senior support staff, Toby, will help you find your way home… Since then, 10 days ago, I’ve sent you numerous emails with absolutely NO reply from your end. Unless I get a reply immediately AND MY CASE WILL BE SETTLED - I will report you to the authorities in all the countries you are registered at!
Thanks for your attention on this matter.

colleague at my workplace tried to help and couldn’t get it to work. Emailing is pointless. You only receive automated bot responses, and once you push further, they simply stop responding altogether. There is no phone number, no real customer support, and no alternative way to submit a claim. After weeks of trying, it’s clear this company has no intention of processing claims. I am now $800 out of pocket, just like many others who have posted similar reviews. This “coverage” is worthless. Save your money and do not use this service.

After seeing a few recent bad reviews, I was not very comfortable with my coverage through RentalCover.com. However, it turned out to be a very quick process. I received a response from them six working days after lodging the claim, with the good news that it was approved for the full amount of $6,516. BORDERLINE SCAM – No Claim Processed, No Communication I had an accident with a Hertz rental in April and bought Full Protection from RentalCover. later – and I have heard absolutely nothing. No updates, no reimbursement, no progress. My claim number is NKSU-WEN7-INS, and yet RentalCover has completely ignored it. What’s worse, they are impossible to reach. Their phone numbers don’t connect, and emails go unanswered. There is no way to speak to a real person.
This is not what they advertise. They promise a smooth, worry-free claims process, but in reality it has been nothing but stress, financial strain, and total silence from their side. Holding on to thousands of dollars of a customer’s money for months without even an acknowledgment is unacceptable and feels like a scam.
I strongly warn others to stay away from RentalCover. If something goes wrong, don’t expect help, don’t expect communication, and don’t expect your money back anytime soon.

We used rental cover for car hire in Canada, the quote looked good and the cost was reasonable. On the last day we had a stone hit our windscreen and the rental company kept the deposit to cover the replacement.
