This is more of a question than review. The customer service team are excellent and very obliging and their job could difficult dealing with some customers. There seems to be consistent problems with the emint shop site, especially on new coin release days. These issues could be attributed to I T problems? This would be plausible except I have had… Read more

my account details altered, phone country prefix changed and unable to edit my account details on a coin release day. This issue prevented the ability to place an order. Others had the same problem with their account. Are there others that had this problem and didn’t report it ? The next day the problem had miraculously disappeared. The issue with this problem is the security of mints website and customer information. The altering of customers accounts is a very serious security concern and their details including credit card information may be vulnerable. This should not under any circumstances be considered just website glitches. The inability to place an order pales into insignificance compared to security concerns of customers account details being altered. This security issue must be of paramount importance for investigation. If you have had a similar problem, it must be reported as soon as possible. It’s imperative that these problems are reported as this may be an extremely serious security issue or risk. Thank you

Ordered coins for my mother's birthday which is today. I ordered them on the 3rd April, today is the 30th April. Still haven't received them. Have followed up several times. Most of the waiting time is that they don't pack them ready to post for at least 3-4 weeks, so you don't even get a tracking number as it is still in the packing stage. … Read more

Whatever system the Australian mint is using for online sales is not working and needs to be changed. I could order something from overseas quicker than the mint. I can't comment on the quality of the coins because a month later and I still haven't received them.

I have been an account holder with the Royal Australian Mint for 40 odd years, They use to call customers like us "Legends". But the quality standards of uncirculated coins and customer service in the last few years in my opinion has been nothing short of appalling. If one is Lucky enough to win a coin/s in a battot by EQL. it can take over 5… Read more

weeks for your order to be delivered (not Aust Post) fault. So now I use R.A.M approved coin dealers. Their logistics are 150% better.

Useless customer service – Was fortunate enough to win a ballot put up by the RA Mint, unfortunately though the provider they use to host the ballots, EQL; does not actually allow you to change your address registered with them. So having recently moved homes the item I was so lucky to win is now being sent 4 hours away from me. EQL clearly states that I should contact RA… Read more

Mint regarding order changes but after spending 40 minutes on hold, the mint's customer service is claiming there's nothing they can do, and even stated that EQL handles the dispatching of the coins?

I have won ballots in the past and it took weeks before the coin was sent out, I don't see why it's not possible for the mint to change the address on an order since surely it's them who will be sending them out?

Zero Customer Service – Appalling customer service. Email are responded to within 'we don't answer email' autoresponse. I ordered an item on 12 June and called a week later to find out what the delay in processing my order was and when it will be dispatched. No reason provided for the delay and told to suckbit up and it will get sent when they were ready to send it. … Read more

Clearly no idea of ACCC guidelines and the need to dispatch goods within a reasonable or agreed timeframe.

Rude and lacking understanding of their own legal requirements.

Sales line is a joke – Called the sales line to purchase an item which is what their website said to do, as item not available to buy online due to limited quantity. Waited in a queue for 40 minutes, listening to a message over and over again of how important my call is and they look forward to assisting me. When an operator came on the line, they just repeated three… Read more

times how can I help you, with no space for me to speak. Then claimed they couldn't hear me and hung up. Appalling and totally frustrating. Why should I have to purchase through a dealer at ridiculously inflated prices; or is that your preference Royal Australian Mint. That treatment was shameful of you.

Another sad story of appalling customer service – Having won the ballot to buy a set of $2 coins and having seen the funds deducted from my account, after 2 weeks of hearing absolutely nothing I emailed the Mint for a response. Waited 3 days and no response about my order. When you send another email you just get another automated reply. What a bunch of sad inefficient people the Royal Australian… Read more

Mint are. This organisation seems to be beset by issues of incompetence and very poor customer service. I don't know if they just civil servants who do not understand how to run a business or they are just plain lazy knowing they have a captive market. It will be the last time I ever shop from them.

The worst place in Australia to deal with. Appalling service – Ordered and paid for the 2023 $2 20 coin set on January17, Today is 2nd February and still no dispatch advice, emailed the mint two days ago to cancel the order as usual no reply. Rang the mint today and was told I am not allowed to cancel the order. If I'm not happy when and if it arrives send it back they may then refund. Just what sort of a… Read more

scam is the Mint running here you pay for an item delivery advised between 10 to 14 days. Well the 17th January until the 2nd on February is obviously out of their promised delivery times and they refuse to refund. Appears an email to the Federal Treasurer is in order whichever way I'm not happy and the item if and when it arrives will be going back.

Great if you can get to the shop in person – Being a coin collector, a stop to see the RAMint was on the itinerary when visiting Canberra. The tour was great and very informative. You can mint your own coins. The RAMint shop was well stocked and I bought lots of souvenirs. Sometimes when there are new releases, it is hard to log onto the online portal or get through on the phone. But if you happen to be in Canberra, the RAMint shop may have the coins.

Lift your game – Poor customer service. Coins released at a particular time always in limited mintage. Cannot order online but only over the phone which is constantly engaged. Yet the same coins are available on EBay for twice or 3 times the retail price. You've lost me. I'm giving up coin collecting.

Terrible ordering system – The products are good but the change to the ordering system- through agencies or via phone is awful. I've been trying to get through on the phone for three days and the line is continually busy. Just what is the Mint doing ? The e-shop system was good, although lately many of the coins were sold out within hours, despite supposedly being of… Read more

"unlimited mintage". The online ordering system should be rebuilt to handle the load of customers and orders of limited mintages should be restricted so we can all have a chance of obtaining the coins. Australians first! -After all, it's OUR Mint and OUR coins!

Terrible loyalty for previous customers – Will never buy from the mint again due to poor management real collectors will have to pay between $250 - $350 to obtain a coin that originally came out with a retail value of $15 all because of incompetent management The new packaging for higher quality coins is garbage as well

Great products, but eshop needs overhaul – I’ve been buying off the mint for years, however recent times have shown their eshop needs a serious overhaul. There have been several times this year I haven’t even been able to access the shop. Orders have been slow in the last six months.

Appalling customer service! – I bought eight Commemorative $5 Coins from the Mint in 1994. The coins are sealed in special air-tight blister packs. And I kept them in a box. However I recently noticed that one of them had completely lost its colour, going from a coppery to a nickel colour. There is no air leak and no damage to the blister pack, so there must be a metallurgical… Read more

flaw in the coin. I contacted the Mint about having it replaced, and instead received a phone call from a strident woman who talked over me, insisting that because this had "never happened before" it must be my fault. And no, they would not replace it. And no, their technicians are not interested in getting it back to see what went wrong. She basically tried to shout me down, an appalling display of foul customer service. It was a startling example of how NOT to treat a customer.

I asked her: "Do you expect me to continue buying from you after treating me like this?" and put down the phone. I was absolutely shocked that the Mint would appoint someone as discourteous and contemptuous of customers to handle (perfectly valid) complaints.

So in summary, buy from them at your own risk.

History through Coins – The Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, is unique, with their interactive displays. It provides a visual history of Australia, through Australia's coins, from the "Holy dollar" to todays decimal currency. The volunteers tour is entertaining, and involves the group in the talk. You are able to mint your own coin. The gift shop has a wide variety of collectable coins.
