Pretty but useless. Avoid!!!! – Looks beautiful, but each unit requires 4 AA batteries, seriously!! The seasoning container is very shallow, maybe 4 or 5 tablespoons max, so frequent refills. The bottom rests don’t clip on, thus easy to lose. Tried grinding sea salt, unit jammed. Pretty useless. I’m returning the unit. Very disappointed. I was shocked that Russell Hobbs would bring such a low quality and functionally deficient product to market.

Don’t buy! – Thought it was faulty. Returned it at the good guys and it was replaced.. The salesman refills it with the salt and pepper I had in the ‘faulty’ one to show me it working. It does exactly the same thing. After half an hour later (with an impatient 2 yo) we discovered it doesn’t grind sea salt!! So what’s the point? Waste of money and a waste of my time. I suggest to buy another brand….that does what it’s supposed to do.

Would not recommend – Not enough adjustment pepper comes out too coarse and it is very easy to over salt food even when doing a very quick press on button. Can be difficult to undo and put back together when refilling. Battery life seems ok though.

Don’t Last!! – Purchased through the Good Guys lasted about a year before the salt one seized up and also battery terminal rusted inside unit. Rust marks also show on outside of the mill despite cleaning regularly. Light at the bottom has gone in one of the mills and the pepper mill has just stopped working the last few weeks. If your after salt and pepper mills that last about year go for it, otherwise look elsewhere.

Russell Hobbs Reputation Rubbish – Three months Three weeks , no replacement warranty , don't buy these things on online , if you really want to buy them get them from somewhere where you can take them back because I think you'll be taking them back Try and find a warranty and keep it handy

Absolute rubbish – I Bought them because i have arthritis in my hands. They only work intermittently, chew through batteries, and now won't open for me to refill, what a waste of money

A good gadget everyone should have – The Russell Hobbs Salt and Pepper shaker is a very good tool every household should have. I bought this from Goodguys couple of months ago and since than I do not regret to pay for it. It's a very handy tool and easy to operate. Once someone use it they will definitely going to buy it. I believe its a good product under Russell Hobbs banner. The… Read more

additional feature of having a light in the bottom is very useful when u try to see what goes in the food. In addition, the shaker has got option of changing the grinding size. I personally recommend this brand and the product. have fun ....

Perfect! – Love these salt and pepper mills! They even come with little plastic bases to put them back on so that you don't end up with salt and pepper all over your pantry. They grind through the large pink salt I use with ease too. Definitely worth the upgrade if you were using cheap ones like I was.

Good value and works perfectly – I don’t like battery-operated devices in general, but it was getting harder / more painful to use my manual pepper mills as me and my joints aged, I capitulated. After some online research, and reading reviews of battery-operated pepper mills ranging from ~ $70 (!) for 1 mill to ~ $15 for a set of 2 (!) and powered by between 4 to 6 AAA or AA… Read more

batteries, I settled for the Russell Hobbs as these were in stock. Due to COVID, many mills at the cheaper end were out of stock.

I bought these online for click and collect and was unsure whether the list price of $29 was for a pair or for one. (Poor descriptions for online sales is one of my pet peeves.)

PROS: - good value as these came as a pair - each mill uses 4 AA batteries - decent sized opening makes it easy to fill - plastic disc supplied for each mill to stand on (catches the ground bits) - ability to adjust the grind from fine to coarse - has a light on the grinding end - easy to use large push button on top of mill - stainless steel finish looks elegant

CONS: - small capacity (the clear section is the capacity)

I am happy with my purchase so far.

UPDATE: I’ve just had to change the batteries, so 4x AA batteries last roughly 2+ months based on multiple grinds a day (we love our pepper!).

Glad I bought these – At first we were a little annoyed to discover they needed 8x AA batteries (4 for each shaker) in order for them to work, but now we're really glad to have bought them because we use them constantly.

The grinding mechanism fell apart and spat washers into my guest's dinner! – One of the grinders, when being used, malfunctioned and two washers (one cut in half) landed on my dinner guest's meal. Only used about three times too! A dangerous and faulty product..

Russell Hobbs Pepper Grinder – Pepper mill very rarely works, I thought I was using wrong pepper corns.I have tried different brands but no different. Salt okay, but I would not recommend. Because a gift I can not return

What a waste – Bought these brand new and have never worked. Didn’t go to use for awhile after buying so I originally thought it was the batteries but after replacing these they still did not work.

Embarrassing gift to me from my wife, – Embarrassing gift to me from my wife, hopelessly underpowered, only will go with brand new batteries and settings full wide open. The salt one was taken back to Briscos and they replace half, not sure motor or grinder half. 4 x 1.5 volt batteries which is actual 6 volt, but I measure 3.05 volt on output so 2 batteries in series. I sprayed… Read more

silicon down into the electric motor, giving slight improvement. Batteries were new up at +1.52 volt each.

After 10 second use the output from the 4 batteries dropped from 305 volt to 2.75 volt.

I suspect there is poorly made windings in the electric motors, that's why some work well for some customers but 70% experience problems like me.

The shop replaced complete unit, but that even stopped after 4 weeks so I only have the salt level a 3rd full, and the grinding size only at 50%

Excellent, love them – I have had these for just over a year now. Work perfectly every time. Easy to refill. I don’t understand the bad reviews, people must be misusing them. We use ours every day with no issues.

Non-functional and frustrating – Thought this newer model was going to he great. However it has been nothing but drama with intermittently working mills and now the salt grinder not clicking into place, falling apart and creating a mess. Going back for a refund.

Very Easy to Use and Works Perfectly – I bought this set a week ago, and I have had no problems using it. The instructions were very easy-to-follow, and each mill worked perfectly, first time, and every time thereafter. I cannot understand why there are so many negative reviews in this thread, as the mills have been working perfectly for me for a week, now, and I use them several… Read more

times every day.

I suppose it is possible that they may break down at some future time, and, if that happens, I shall submit an update here, but for now, I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

Great! – Bought a few weeks ago and so far it is great. The grinders are used every day and haven't had any issues so far. Compared to our last grinders these are much quieter too. The only small complaint is the amount of salt that comes out is a bit excessive and if you shake the grinder then more comes out, so just press the button briefly then shake it and voila!  Show reply
