Absolute Garbage – Had mine for a few years but only used about 10 times. I should have know better than to buy Ryobi so serves me right. Keeps throwing chain. Looked up the manual on line to tension chain. Manual refers to at least 10 diagrams of which there are zero in the PDF. The quality of the tools itself carries over into the manual. Crap ... avoid.

Works well....when the chain stays on – The chainsaw works really well and can handle almost any smaller cutting task. The issue is that the chain is repeatedly getting clogged with debris and comes off easily. flew into the garden. Found the washer but not the c-ring. The c-ring holds the washer in place and the washer holds the chain sprocket in place so without the ring the unit cannot be used. Found a replacement c-ring on spares.bigwarehouse.com.au for $32.00. Keep in mind this is a tiny metal retaining ring so still tossing up whether to purchase or not.

UPDATE. Purchased an E-ring pack from Supercheap for $9 and one of them fit so I am back in action. It is a good product.

Utter garbage – Bought 4 of these now. Usually they last a few days before they fail. Still cheaper than getting people out to do it for me. Bought one yesterday from Bunnings. be better that way the plate could be the only item that needs to be replaced.

I'll take it back tomorrow to get a refund as its inside 14 days for refund.

Problem is these lugs wear, the eventually break off and the sprocket moves around, CONSTANTLY throwing the chain off. The device is now completely unusable.

BUNNINGS' answer - No interest.

RYOBI's answer - No interest, no contact.

What will I do next? No more money getting spent at BUNNINGS or on RYOBI products.

Good little chainsaw – Bought this to trim some Plane Tree branches and wow. Cuts through a bit roughly but gets through them! Pretty quiet, long reach, bit awkward when fully stretched out and don't use it off a ladder. Got through about 8 branches 150mm diameter and a heap of little ones and only used half the oil tank (about 30m). When I stored it though all the oil ran out. Suggest draining the tank before storing it.

Terrifyingly dangerous – Trigger switch on this stopped working on the second day of use, resulting in the tool being unable to be turned off. I had to try and pull the tool apart with the chain running. Returned it to Bunnings, who offered to swap it for another, but refused a refund. Never again Ryobi will I give you my money, never again. The tool is a death trap and a safety hazard - don't go near it with a 10ft barge pole ... or pruning pole!

bet for my requirements. At Bunnings before I made the purchase I was lucky enough to meet an employee in charge of the gardening section, and it turned out that he had purchased a Ryobi 720W and was very happy with it. The two year warranty was a bonus, so I bought one.

It took me a while to get used to handling it, because it is top heavy and therefore difficult to use. However, once you adjust the strap to suit the height at which you wish to cut, it becomes much easier to use. As far as the oil goes, I'm happy with the 30ml capacity which seemed to last about one hour with on and off use. A larger capacity would of course initially add to the weight of the unit.

The Bunnings employee warned me about the extra weight of the two stroke cutters, and the lack of low down torque in battery cutters. The 720W electric has awesome torque at low revs!

After around two hours use I saw the need to adjust the chain to take up some slack, but found it difficult to decipher the instruction manual on tensioning the chain. So I went to Bunnings and the same employee showed me how simple it was, and also how to sharpen the blade cutters.

So all I can say is that I am a very happy chappy!

Great garden tool which replaces all other lopping tools – Found if you use the shoulder on strap as the fulcrum balance is excellent. Used on green hardwood to dry Laurel and it cuts excellently.

Problems, but still glad I bought it – Like the previous reviews, I found it awkward to use. It's very hard to balance, with all the weght at the far end. It's difficult even when at it's shortest length. Unfortunately the power cord comes out of the end of the handle, rather than underneath. with a large fishing rod. Instead you're trying to balance it against nothing.

Another problem with the power cord location is that you can't store it with the blade up, as the full wweight is then loaded on the cord input. I need to store mine resting the other way up, on the blade end.

As a previous reviewer noted, it's a bit difficult to set up and still retain the full shortening of the fibre-glass shafts. It's as if the coiled p0wercord inside gets a bit knotted and iwon't compress all the way. With a bit of fiddling mine was ok.

The oil is also an issue. The oil window is opaque and difficult to see the oil level. I tried to insert a stick like a dipstick to test the depth. But in any case it chews through the oil very quickly, so I don't worry about it too much, but I'm not sure how long it'll be ok.

Finally, the chain doesn't seem to be factory pre-stretched. In other words it stretched a lot in the first ten minutes and then came off the runners...not a big problem as ity was easy to put back on, but I would suggest keeping a close eye on the tension at first.

All in all, it has a few problems, but it certainly has made prunng a lot easier. Where I needed to use a ladder and a saw to readh igh branches, I can rip through the thicker branches. As a trimmer though, it doesn't do a good job of some fine branches - it can tend to fray the more flexible ones rather than cuttng. Makes pruning big branches a lot easier, price Awkward to hold, oil problems

Difficult to set up, oil issues – On the first use, I filled the oil reserve as per instructions, and tightened the lid - only to find it is extremely easy to overtighten. The chain tension was difficult to figure out on such a small bar. I set it up similar to my big chanin saw, and the unit threw the chain. Had to tigheten quite a bit to stop it throwing off.

Incidentally, the replacement chains are expensive.

Just ok – I had trouble with the first one I bought. After assembly, I found I couldn't retract the pruner from the extended position. No worries, I took it back to Bunnings and they gave me another one. The new one works ok. depending on how much of a workout you give it). It's a real chore. The pruner can also become a bit tiring after a while. It's made of lightweight materials, but it's still a bit awkward to hold (mainly due to the weight of the head). The harness helps but it's not always in a convenient position.
