Ryobi ELT1100A 1100 Watt Electric Questions & Answers
VerifiedHow to put a line on the trimmer
Is there a replacement head for an elt1100a available?
Yes there is. I just purchased a Ryobi LTA-001 trimmer head. Although it fits various PLTxxx models, it fits the ELT1100A perfectly
How to change the empty line
can a metal brush cutter blade be fitted to ryobi elt1100a
Ken. they look really good in the advertisements. I fitted one, easy for me as I have a lathe to make the adaptors. It was a complete failure, far too much vibration and load for the machine, also I think they are dangerous. Sick of changing the plastic wire ,try some stainless steel plastic coated wire.
thanx will google the wire one
I have the Ryobi RLT Electic Line Trimmer can I put the RyobinPro Cut 11 on to this trimmer?
Yes ,no problems ,I use one, a little line is lost (75mm) every time it's replace but that's normal with most trimmer heads. Bunnings sell them. As I explained in previous posts this machine is too fast, put a speed control on it and the trimmer line will last twice as long.
How do I remove the head?. Is there any way to lock drive shaft so I can get the bump knob loose?
My first response would be get a new Stihl electric. Half the weight, ten times more useability. Basically use the isolation aperture above the head by inserting a suitably sized Allen key or small screwdriver to lock the drive in place while unscrewing the head.
Hi Colin If you hold the body of the line holder you should be able to undo the bolt ( 13 mm ) that holds it on the drive shaft. If the whole head spins around I think you will have break it to get it off.
How do I stop the drive shaft so I can remove the head to replace cord
Is the complete trimmer head or an alternative still available for the ELT1100A?
Hi Barry There's a range of aftermarket trimmer heads that will fit. I'm using a PRO CUT 11 which works well. As previously mentioned this trimmer works much better slowed down to about 3/4 speed . Had mine for years now with no problems.
Can you change line spool?
Yeah, there's a youtube video by Mr. Hardware "How to restring dual-sided spool lawn weed eater trimmer with double string" . It can take some force to remove the bumper knob at the bottom if you've not done it for some time. The whole head comes off and you put in the string in the holes and wind it up as in the video and leave about 30cm and slide them into the keeper. Then load it into the hopper and feed them though the holes (this part is tricky). Then put back the bumper knob and your ready. I use thicker line as it lasts longer. Some people use the metal blades but I think they're dangerous when it comes to your feet and legs. Hope this helps you out.
I fitted a 'Pro Cut 11 line head on my Ryobi trimmer. It works well but every time you change the line you lose about 60mm of line. This is not a a big issue as the line is cheap. Google "Ryobi Pro Cut 11" line trimmer head it's all there.
Hope this helps Richard
What part number for cord?
Ryobi power cord & plug HLT8.
Hi Kari
I don't have any part numbers.
Richard
Do you need to continually replace the little juey head for the $34.95 or can you simply replace the line?
$35 seems expensive for a bit of plastic tbh. I don't use them, I use the standard head that came with the line trimmer and have had no problems and spend $15 on 50m of 3mm line which lasts me the year.
As Kazza has answered, you just need to replace the line, not the head.
Can I get a better head? I see in the comments that a little Joey bent head may work better. What is your advice? I have never been happy with the original head, and have always had big trouble getting the line in.
Hi John3155. I actually can't answer your question as I never tried to get another head for it and never considered it. Sorry, no help.
you can change head to ryobi pro cut line head. it needs single fix line.
