Still running as new after almost 11 years – Purchased this from Bunnings Willetton 30/11/2013. Used extensively for wooden toys. Hard and softwoods. Still working fine, no issues what so ever. The really heavy cast iron base reduces the vibration usually inherent to these types of sanders. Belt changes are dead easy. There are some plastic covers in some places but they do not appear to… Read more

be structural. Mine haven't broken or failed yet. The 370W motor is way more than you need for DIY or medium duty works. I have not experienced any RCD tripping even under heavy load. Belts and pads are standard sizes and easy to obtain. I can not recommend this machine highly enough. One minor point is the metal shield under the belt platter can rattle a little if you don't properly nip up the screws holding it in place. Other than that it certainly represents good value for your DIY workshop.

Works Well, then starts tripping circuit breakers – This is my third Ryobi Belt and Disc Sander from Bunnings. Performance and reliability for all three are the same. They work well for 1 year to 18 months, then they will constantly start arcing tripping the home circuit breaker. I wont risk buying another Show details

Constantly trips RCD – Used the machine twice and it is tripping my RCD. Tried different circuits in the house, same result. I can only assume some really dodgy engineering has gone into this product for that to occur. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, it's a safety risk and should be product recalled. I have many other Ryobi products and I can't complain but this is a big letdown. Show details

What a brilliant little machine – Fantastic little machine. Does what it says on the box. Some parts are made tinny and don't fit exact but it's for DIY. 370watts is ample for me as I make wooden toys and this saves me sanding everything by hand. I left one guard off on the disc sander as it was constantly rubbing and added a velcro pad for velcro backed sandpaper. Works like a charm. Very happy Show details ·  1

Really useful sander – It was not till after I had bought this sander that I read some of the reviews. Turns out that is a good thing because it would have put me off buying a very useful addition to my tool set. Yes it is possible to jam the belt if you apply too much pressure, but the supplied disk and belt remove material very quickly if you are not careful. Some… Read more

of the components are fairly lightweight plate, but the main body of the machine is sturdy and heavy enough to be used with out bolting to the bench. The machine looks to be well made and more than adequate for DIY and hobbyist use. If I wanted a machine to be used on a daily basis I would be looking for something more heavy duty with a corresponding increase in price.

I would recommend this machine both on performance and value for money.

Great sander - very versatile and just the right weight – As a DYI person and hobbyist I do a fair bit of shaping timber. This sander is brilliant at removing timber. I have not had any of the troubles others have reported. The disc section is great and the belt is as well. Show details

POS – This sander does not last at all. I purchased this on the 11th of september and now a little over a month later after light use it trips breakers. Mind you this is a 40 amp breaker. No way this tool should use any more. Avoid this tool at all costs  Show details

Effective Sander for the Price – Bought this sander for some DIY home projects from Bunnings in July 2018, had it now for 2 months and it has been good for the most part for what it is used for. Had some trouble initially with aligning the belt part, but didn't read the instruction Manuel and worked it out by turning the adjustment knob at the front to line the belt up right.… Read more

Could do with some more power and some of the metal guards are a bit flimsy.

Have not had to replace/find new belts or the disc part, so cannot comment on the longevity as yet.

For the price you pay compared to others out there and there availability, it works fine and decent value for money

RYOBI JUNK – I bought this sander at Bunnings on the 08 July 2017 and returned it on the 09 July 2017, it was a bit of junk, I read a review (on this site) on a previous model, I think the reviewer gave it an o.k score so I thought that the new model would be made a lot better, well I was wrong, its still the same only it's now Ryobi green. Bunnings never even… Read more

had one on display so I was hard to view it before I bought it, my fault for not asking for a look before I bought one.

REVIEW.......

The machine is of a poor quality

*Lots of green plastic instead of metal.

*Very low on power

*The thin alloy metal material rest for the disk sander was not made flat or square so a good finish on a job would be not possible

*The material rest was only held to the machine in one spot, by only one bolt. Very poor quality. Would break off very easy.

*The belt was hard to remove and replace.

*The instruction manual was terrible, no words only pictures.

*When running the sander seemed like it was out of balance, it wanted to walk back to Bunnings I think, this would make a good job very hard to achieve.

My opinion of this sander is that it's a poor quality machine, save your money a bit more and buy a better quality sander.

A really useful machine let down by inferior components – We bought two of these machines for Glenfield College, Sadly both machines suffered the same initial failure. The switches fail to latch in the "on " position. Both were returned and after weeks of complaining, were replaced. Sadly the new machines suffered the same problems. Our tech department have now modified them and improved their… Read more

reliability, probably binning the warrenty.

The starting capacitors on the motors have also failed. A good machine let down by cheap electrical components. Liniesha and disc sander combo. compact and ideal for small workshop. Good for metal and wood. Cheap electrics, accuracy is doubtful possibly a bit under powered for such a large belt.
