Good scales and company honoured warranty – I bought the salter scales because they were Salter made. They worked perfectly until a few years of use the digital readout died. The warranty was a lot longer than this so I lodged a warranty claim. As I had my original receipt the scales were replaces without any fuss. That totally impressed me as so many companies just play delaying games when it comes to warranty claims Would I buy Salter again? Of course

Purchased in at Big W for $70.

Lasted 2 months – Was good when first bought, but only lasted a couple months... literally. Tare function refused to work, and scale registered 1g or 2g when turned on. Tried to reset & change battery, but of no help. I bake for 2-3 times a week, which I don't think by any standard is considered heavy usage. With the price it is selling for, I would expect this scale to last for a lot longer than the cheaper ones. Had to return for a refund.

Lasted 6 years before it stopped working – I bought a Salter 1035 SSBKDR (looks same in photo) in 2009 for $60. It's been good, easy to store, accurate. Unfortunately I pulled it out of the cupboard 2 days ago & the weighing didn't work. It turns on but I can push down on the scales and it registers as 20g. The food I tried to weigh in a cup didn't even register a weight. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in but it didn't fix the problem. Tried a new battery - no fix. Off to buy different brand.

My favourite kitchen gadget – Spent ages looking for an electronic kitchen scale, but didn't want to spend to much. I ended up with this - and it's been fantastic. Thin and light, it can be easily tucked away without taking up any space, and it's easy to clean. I've found it a godsend to be able to switch between grams and ounces, depending on the recipe, without having to think about conversions, and it is surprising how often I use it to measure liquids too Light and small and easy to store, without being fiddly to use with larger pots and bowls Have had to replace the batteries a few times
