Samsung Series 8 HU8500 Questions & Answers
VerifiedIs there any new firmware available for ua65hu8500? I bought it thinking of upgrading through evolution kit but that was a hoax.
Hey Zman, the updates will happen either visa the TV setting or Over the internet when the TV received the update. You can update via the evo kit but at the moment we are not sure when that would be releasing.

Why is Samsung Series 8 UA48HU8500W not supported?
Is this Samsung Smart Tv 4K? Thanks
Yes, but I returned mine for a refund because it kept breaking.
We are suffering from a problem in our LED SMART TV UA55HU8500. Initially a message was appeared on the screen that Cooling Fan is not working and the TV will be Shut Down. This message sometime appears and sometime not. After few days, two Vertical Lines appear on screen (One Red & one Green) at a distance of 3 inches apart. Kindly Look into the matter and guide us for its Rectification at the earliest.

is samsung ua55hu8500w 4k ready
In Short........ no,
Isn't it a 4k UHD TV? Mine was (in Australia). So not just 4k ready, it's 4k all the time. You can't switch off half the pixels to make it 2k.
Hi Wayne, the HU8500 TV will require an evolution kit to be able to support HDCP 2.2 for new devices.

I have the same question as David W....is it UHD? I tried to connect to Foxtel iQ4 and the 4K native channel does not display. Samsung support tells me it is not UHD, only FHD.
It is UHD (4K) but this doesn't mean you can get 4K via every source. From some sources you'll just get FHD quality. (I got rid of my Samsung TV because it broke 3 times in 10 months. I'll never buy another Samsung product, ever, not even their phones. They're dead to me.)
Foxtel says: "To view Foxtel 4K, our 4K UHD Standard requires that your TV needs to have a resolution of 3840x2160, a supported refresh rate of 50hz and a HDMI 2.0 input that is HDCP2.2 compliant." Maybe your TV doesn't support HDCP2.2. According to external link , this TV isn't supported.
The TV manual says: "HDCP 2.2 can only use the HDMI(MHL) port." Also it says: "Your TV supports MHL (Mobile High-definition Link) via an MHL cable. MHL enables viewing and playing video, image, and audio files from mobile devices on the TV. However, MHL is only available through the TV's HDMI (MHL) port and only when used in conjunction with an MHL-enabled mobile device." I don't understand this but maybe it will help you.
Thanks honest Bob. That would explain it. Sorry to hear of your experience with Samsung - I've been happy with mine since new (2015) but this one threw me a curveball...Samsung support (useless btw) are telling me it is definitely on FHD.
Is this model 4K
Yes it's 4K, but I don't recommend it and personally will never buy another Samsung TV or any other Samsung product due to multiple bad experiences.
Hi David, this model is a UHD 4K Smart TV :)
