The Samsung Freestyle Projector is great product, until stop working. I have been dealing with Samsung repair since April 2025 with two different issues, and the problem has not been solved. Communication in between Samsung customer service and Video Factory repair seems to not be made internally, and I spent hours trying to fix an issue, and… Read more

When it breaks, buy a new one! – The projector itself is great. But if it stops working - and it will - you are supposed to just throw it away and buy a new one. Samsung flat-out refused to even tell me where I could get it serviced after repeated requests, making the process impossible. Troubleshooting to fix it yourself achieves nothing. I've had to go to a lot of effort to… Read more

find anyone who will even look at it, regardless of whether I'm happy to pay (I'm not even going to attempt to claim it's under warranty).

I will never buy another Samsung product again. Electronics should not be disposable and companies should not force customers to buy new versions every few years. It's horrendous for the environment and should a profound disrespect for their own customers. A new projector of the same model would cost around AUD1200 - and I am confident it'd break just as quickly.

I Smiled for Days – Bought this little guy last year and was instantly stoked with it. I now have a huge projector that I can watch on my roof. The internal software is excellent and intuitive for anyone who normally uses apps to watch TV. I did want the Xbox feature, I connected a PS5 controller to it, but the controller had some lag that I couldn’t remedy. I… Read more ·  1

did have to buy an Xbox S and plug it in, but I’m sure this feature can be fixed with a firmware update possibly. I’ve also used my phone as a controller. Great for games that are puzzles etc. Using the Xbox feature requires a subscription, but it’s great in ways and has drawbacks. I could play Dragon Age Origins on my ceiling…amazing.

It uses a micro HDMI cable which you don’t get in the box, but its primary function is online content which is brilliant. I do think it would have saved me two Amazon purchases…mistaking it for a mini not a micro.

Okay, so, I feel pretty good when I watch it from bed on my ceiling. My partner takes it away with them to watch on hotel walls when they work. I’d have to say the auto functions are excellent. I have tried this on very dark blue walls and white ceilings.

I love the solar charging remote that also can be plugged in via USB C. Very satisfying remote control. The volume buttons feel great.

Overall I really love this item and would buy more of them for different purposes. I have the big 4K one in the theatre which is amazing, but this High Def one is surely great too.

Why I love it: So portable Great auto functions that adjust the arch and focus TV’s are heavy, this guy comes in a tiny box. I can watch TV on my bedroom ceiling whilst in bed or a wall with an adjustment. This hooks to my Bluetooth headphones very easily Easy to use software. No strange software that you find in alternatives. This connects to everything seamlessly.

No care at all, randomly shutting down within a year – Bought all my electronics with Samsung brand inclduing 2 folding phones. Lastly, we bought the Samsung Freestyle Projector, within 1 year of the warranty period, it started to shut down randomly. Called Samung care last week, Samsung's level 2 tech did a remote controlled session and he clearly said that he was able to identify some issues with… Read more

my projector, so he's arranged a local repair contractor to have a look for me, and clarified there won't be any charge.

This week, the electrician came back and said there's no fault, and I'm getting charged for the service fee which Samsung custom care just told me they won't cover it.

1st of all, paying the service fee is not the end of the world, but I want a working projector, if that fee would get me a working projector.

This is so unbelievable, not going to get any more Samsung devices, i would be happy to take my chances with other brand in the future.

Buggy. Wifi drops regularly. OS crippling sluggish response – The form factor is convenient and I love the idea. The execution is terrible though. Often the OS is so slow I have to power cycle it 4-8 times while watching a 30 minute show. The wifi also frequently drops. The mini HDMI makes it hard to remedy the sluggish os with a chromecast or Apple TV. Apps like Apple TV or paramount, even YouTube will… Read more

often crash requiring uninstall and re-download from the Samsung store.

I can’t believe Samsung released a product with such poor optimisation. It is the 3rd time in the space of 2years I’ve been burned by a Samsung product.

There are better projectors for cheaper that have a way better software implementation. I hope they put more ram, a better processor and better wifi in the next one. Avoid.

Worst customer service and misleading promotion – I bought the projector under the promotion that if you buy a projector you get a battery pack worth $299 for free. When I recieved the projector via post there was no battery back delivered. I called Samsung customer service few times regarding my free battery pack and every time they said they cant do anything with a straight no. Very poor… Read more

The Swiss Army Knife of Projectors – I read the mixed reviews on the Samsung Freestyle but concluded it fit what I was looking for. Something truly portable, smart TV features, and a solid picture with large screen. As usual I didn't read any instructions, but had it up and running very quickly. Just projected onto my painted wall in daylight. At first I was very disappointed, could… Read more ·  1

barely see the set up screen to get it working. I very nearly returned it there and then, but I'm glad I didn't! So up and running with a washed out picture, pretty happy with the UI but a bit clunky especially as I already have 2 Samsung TV so quite familiar with their layout. So apart from the picture it was quite obvious the inbuilt speaker was adequate but at best a sub par bluetooth speaker. Played with it for a bit then had to do something else. My wife came home later and asked was I pleased with it, and said nah probably gunna take it back. Fired it up again and by now it's dark, and crap the picture was really great. We ended up watching it at the kitchen table against the wall for an hour or so, wife said she loved it so all good. Next day hooked up my HEOS speaker by Bluetooth but had terrible lag. Tried a cheapy JBL soundbar which was a bit better but still to laggy. Switched off and on and asked me if I wanted to connect the JBL, once I did the lag had gone. Anyway NRL Grand Final is two days away so I told my mate I would bring it over. He has a pop top and took down the awning to make a white screen about 2.5m x 2m. Knowing the projector sound wouldn't cut it outside I bought a JBL Flip 6 for $179 as a portable speaker. Paired that, the Flip is a very small speaker but the sound was excellent. So cut to Grand Final day and again got there in daylight, not surprisingly I couldn't even see the screen on the awning in daylight. So feeling like a dick I set it up inside wi fi etc etc. Was going to leave it that, but as the sun went down and a few beers in thought stuff it give it a go. Lo and behold once it was dark we had a perfectly fine picture running off 9Now, put the Flip in the rafters of the patio roof and had stadium like sound. Over 30 people outside, picture and sound excellent. So today set it up in the spare lounge room to watch the Windies ODI. Screen 123" x 68" which I think is 145". Totally immmersive, it is only recommended for 100" so I am pushing it to the Max. I can move it closer and reduce screen size and have a significantly better picture, but I don't want to. The truly theatre size is better than the slightly better picture. Had it running through the JBL soundbar, then remembered somewhere it can run two bluetooth speakers at the same time. Now the fun really started. Switched on the Flip and sure enough had sound out of both. Now the really cool thing is if you use the remote both speakers volume adjusts together. But if you use each device they change independently. So I could set the soundbar up front at x volume and put the Flip behind me at Y volume. Now had quasi surround sound and felt like I was at the Gabba. Soooo, it's not the best picture, hasn't got the greatest sound, but you can go virtually anywhere and have a home cinema indoor or outdoor, connect to every streaming service straight from wifi or your mobile hot spot. It cannot be beaten for pure fun and versatility.

I love it very versatile – I wanted a tv that I could use for online workouts with my Pilates reformer and it’s fantastic as I can move it around to face whatever wall I need it be in even the roof for when I working out laying down. Love that I can move it around the and Alexa is great . I love how compact it is and light weight . It’s so much better than putting holes in the wall . I’m glad the salesperson showed us this option . Show details

Doesn’t work as advertised – Projector is dim, doesn’t auto focus or auto keystone in the way they advertised. The software is incredibly buggy and should never have been sold to the public like this. Constantly shuts down and freezes up. Samsung won’t take responsibility for false advertising.
