Ideal product – I needed to back up photos from my phone as I was out of storage. This product really helped me and was really easy to use
Purchased in at The Good Guys.
Speedy drive at an affordable price – If you are in the market for a very fast, very portable USB device, then this may well be the drive you are looking for! I needed a larger unit to replace a slow, aging 32GB unit for diagnostic tools (bootable ISO's) as I work in the IT support industry. I can easily copy files to the drive at over 100MB/s on a laptop with USB 3.1, which I believe I was hitting the maximum my poor NAS could deliver (1Gbit LAN). This is most likely the work of windows caching also making the drive performance look better than it really is. That being said, my older 32GB unit could only sustain speeds of about 5MB/s write speeds.
I work away a lot, so I'm always at the airport, and have no problems with the xray scanners or such at the security scanners, but never have with any other device yet either.
Booting via the device is trivial and works as expected, and all ISO files I have loaded with Ventoy are very fast and responsive regardless of what USB technology you are using this on. Obviously, USB 3.1 will be a LOT faster as you will see in the attached screenshots using CrystalDiskMark. Ignore the formatted size displayed on my benchmark, as Ventoy makes two partitions on the drive, the ISO storage is 239GB which is heaps anyway.
Things I like: * FAST! * Metal case, helps keep it cool. * Small, but not tiny form factor * Inexpensive * 5 year warranty
Thinks I don't like: * Claims of 300MB/s are only for READ speeds and only on the 128/256G models.
Would I recommend this device? 100%, YES! My laptop can read the data from this USB drive at 400MB/s, which saves time and as they say, time IS money!
I've since purchased the smaller 32GB model for my UnRaid boot drive. Works as well as I was expecting also. My 256GB unit is still attached to my access card ring, and is used many times per day, again with zero issues. Your BIOS may need 'secure boot' disabled if using Ventoy to boot. Just a quick tip.
