Biggest rip off ever – Only free stuff you can get for free without paying 30 dollars for . this site has nothing to do with cord cutting. its just a platform of already free sites like hulu, crackel. any thing more you have to pay extra. any prime channels like A&E you only get free seasons which you can get more just going to A&E website. P.S if you cant pay by… Read more
credit card, don't use the PayPal option as they will refuse to give any refund. I tried three different cards first for the 2.99 a month option only to get an error from their site.
It will be cheaper for you to do a goggle search or you tube as this is where most the video comes from. anything major you have to pay for through amazon, itunes, vudo etc.
Can't get it to load – I am quite able to use electronic devices. That said I have signed up and try to log on and it won't let me like a circular mess. I hit login then it goes to a screen with watch now hit watch now it goes to main screen with the login button then back to watch now and on and on. Go to forgot password just to try to see if that works says that… Read more

Termination request - now! – Termination request - sent! I haven't had whatever the so called "service" from SELECT TV / UBI for months.. The box would disconnect on and off and there are problems with the dish all the time... When we have called and left messages for anyone to call back nothing happens. Last time i spoke to a gentlemen whom i spent one hour on… Read more
the phone explaining over and over and over again the problems i had with the no-service, and all he did was read the notes on teh systems. Didn't get anywhere.
Hopeless, appaling, no service!
Do not reccomend to anyone!
no service....
Excellent – Unfortunately we have now only one paytv provider available for new subscribers, It's been a nice run and now the party's over for us. If we choose too switch to FOXTEL we will have to pay in excess of $110 just to get the equivalent of our $45 service with SelecTV. What happened to the ACCC's promise about communication companies having a… Read more
monopoly in Australia? If they tell you that don't have a monopoly because Optus TV is still running, ask them if Optus is able to take on any new customers too there service. I don't think so Excellent selection of channels, reduces the packages and condenses most of the best channels to lower consumer cost. I don't like that it has rolled over submitted to FOXTEL
Good – A service that is sorely going to be missed by consumers who have been enjoying the $37.95 package. They now have no alternative but to "migrate" their services to Foxtel and Austar, which are ready to put a hole in your pockets as of 15th of Nov 2010. Unbelievable what more are consumers going to lose out on! A variety of channels for all family… Read more
members which is far more affordable than competitors Foxtel and Austar. It markets for lower to middleclass working families. An affordable alternative other than free to air programming. It doesn't give you everything. It's support/installation services can do with an improvement.
Terrible – Not happy at all with the service. Once they have you, they don't bother looking after you. As soon as I find out how to stop the payments coming out of my account, I will terminate the service. I used to like the movies ... but then they got worse and older ... and replayed over and over and over. Keeps breaking down. I cannot contact Selectv… Read more
to have it fixed. They keep taking my money, but won't answer the phone .. if it's not broken .. and won't answer emails.
Terrible – Probably the worst decision ive made this year....DONT DO IT !!!!! THEY ARE A DEAD SET RIPOFF.....SECOND RATE HARDWARE THAT CONTINUALLY MALFUNCTIONS, NO IDEA OF SERVICE...THE BIGGEST MOB OF CARE NOTHING COWBOYS YOU COULD IMAGINE. Maybe you can tell I'm a little pissed off...i wish I'd never signed up ( if you want to cancel you still have to pay… Read more
the full amount of the contract....NO REFUNDS!!!) and theres no way I'll be renewing...Austar offers three times the value and you can get through to them when you need to NOTHING ANY MORE. At first I thought it was reasonable value for money...I'm a pensioner and have to watch every penny.... How big a list can we fit here ?? Mainly hardware issues...the box keeps turning itself off and rebooting...average four or five times a week and usually during an lnteresting part.Ive already had techs replace the box and the new one does the same. And God forbid you try to contact them. Expect a half hour on hold before you get to talk to a Philipino who can hardly speak English. No point asking to be transferred to the Melbourne call centre like the sales rep assurede me I could do....all those morons seem to know how to do is transfer you straight back to the Philippines.
Good – I joined select tv after being fed up with Foxtel being so expensive and repeating the same programs over and over. The select TV equipment feels cheaper and not as user friendly as the foxtel however, it is more reliable (I have had no problems so far) with foxtel the IQ was replaced twice in 1 year!! - Much cheaper than Foxtel - Good selection… Read more
of channels - More reliable - Hardware/set top box not as user friendly as the Foxtel one - not as many channels as foxtel but having said that, Select TV has LESS REPEATS
Good – Good value, good service, I've never had a customer service issue, and I've always managed to get straight through. If we dont use it for a while (a month or so) the smart card authorisation drops out and requires a phone call to re-activate which is a painless exercise. The same problem happens with our Optus Aurora card and apparently has… Read more
something to do with missing required updates because the box is turned off. We use Selectv in a camper whilst travelling about. Terrestrial TV cannot be relied upon and after our 4 year goes to bed at 7.30pm, it's a long night without TV. We use a generic satellite signal receiver (not Selectv equip) and so we don't have any issues with signal continuity or equipment inconsistencies. We have to set up a portable dish every time we move camp, and that can sometimes be a 'challenge' but that has nothing to do with Selectv itself. The service has been pretty much flawless. For travelling it is pretty good value, and it's nice knowing we can some TV entertainment practically anywhere we decide to camp; remote or in the middle of a city. The channels selection suits us well and is a nice spread of programming. The service is pretty good value when compared to Foxtel. There is no contract and the service can be suspended for up to 3 months at a time. I would love the History Channel and a broader range of documentary channels from the Discovery and Nat Geo range
Terrible – Dont waste your time and money with this mob. They have a long way to go to be even reasonable. For the $38 pm just rent videos, and watch FTA stations. PS: Does anyone know how to contact them via email - I desperately want to cancel my account, without cancelling my CR card to stop them. Reasonably priced, and with the extra cost for… Read more
Discovery gives a reasonable mix of programs ie Movies + documentaries absolutely atrocious service, impossible to contact with their "email" help. NO normal email address available, phone up is a joke.
Mindless repeats of almost everything over and over. About 70% of programs are junk and we rarely watch them. All Europe stations (NO FOX) and limited sports.
I have tried to cancel the subscription twice now, but they keep billing me!! cannot log into my 'account' - all i get is TV programs. Recently upgraded the box to include FTA local stations - is am improvement, and is now mainly all we watch. The box is faulty - needs frequent re-boot, program up/down jumps anywhere, often 'no signal etc...' type messages pop up in the middle of viewing, as yet wont replace the box under warranty. No HD station come thru.
Its a nightmare .
Good – Great service compared to the competition. After some initial glitches with scrambled channels, service has been reliable. Good range of programming if you don't miss sport. Programming seems to be improving with new channels and recent web tools to manage account are useful. Good value for money (compared to foxtel) with a variety of channels.… Read more
Good to see support of Australian movies, some good quality stuff. Customer service is hard work via phone with long waiting times. Alternatively you can leave a message, eventually calls are returned. Some movies get recycled far too often.
Terrible – We've had it for a couple of years and it's almost time to bite the bullet and give it away, until they become technically competent. A buck a day is too much to pay for occasional and uncertain reception. The price is about as much as I'd be prepared to pay for what I watch. Programmes aren't frequently interrupted by commercials. There isn't any… Read more
other supplement to the ABC (our main viewing channel), now that SBS is just another junky commercial channel. The uncertainty of reception. We've often had transmission terminated during a movie and we've had only Eurosport and the printed data for the last week, despite a strong signal and frequent re-tuning.
Terrible – Message just send to their support area: Selectv, Happy with the programs offered, extremely disappointed that you can not get support when necessary. Your condescending message “hang in there” seems to paint a picture of what your organisation is all about…. “Hang in there while we try and get it right.” And the content of your web site… Read more

Excellent – Worth every $ dollar, $37.95pm Selectv Suites my needs, When theres is nothing on Free to Air Tv, Able to Watch Couple of movies on the Movie Network, and Entertained by great Documentaries on National Geographic Channel, $37.95 worth the cost, not so expensive as Foxtel, Great Entertainment, movies, cartoons, music need more Entertainment Channels, like Tv Shows, and maybe Aussie Sports Channel,
Terrible – I would NEVER EVER subject anyone to the lousy service by recommending Selectv to them. I rated them as 1-poor only because there's no LOWER ratability. Only saving grace is that they're comparatively cheap. Otherwise none Everything that's mentioned as cons in the other reviews. Signal always dropping out or no signal whatsoever on some channels … Read more
at certain times of the day. Trying to contact anyone by phone or email to complain to or to resolve the issues is totally impossible, no one responds to messages left.
Terrible – Bad service, you get only a letter or an email when you want to be disconnected, otherwise no service at all. This service will go the same way as Boomerang TV years ago. promised 2 years ago for more channels. Put up the price to 37.95 and you get 2 more kids channel, but the took the wine channeloff.
Terrible – I have had Selectv for 2 months and already regret signing up. In the past couple of weeks they have introduced a new package with a new style set top box two extra childrens Disney channels. Since the new channels appeared I have had nothing but trouble...constant error messages saying either "Insert Smart Card" or "Service Scrambled" it does… Read more
fix iteself with a re power but as this is happening 10/15 times a day it is annoying. I rang their customer service number and they admitted there was a problem for some customers who had the old box. They said someone would ring me later that day about the matter...no phone call received. I rang again the next day and the person I spoke to said the could refund me a weeks worth of money...I said how about just fixing the service...they said someone would ring me....no phone call received....over the next few days the service got worse, after numerous calls and hours waiting on hold...[name censored] told me that they would send me a new box at no expense...great I said. I waited a week for the box to arrive and of course it didn't....more phone calls, more promises for people to call back that of course never eventuated. This morning I turned on Selectv to see a message on the screen saying that they had tried to charge my bank account for $149.00 but the payment had been rejected and that I was to ring them immediatly or my service would be suspended. I rang them and after 35 minutes on hold got through to someone who said that the charge was for a set top box...I again went through the whole story and she said that she could see by looking at my details that I had been attempting to sort this problem out for a couple of weeks....anyway she said a supervisor will ring you within 5 minutes.....30 minutes later I was still waiting for the phone call. Finally I rang Win TV who gave me a different head office phone number, I rang and the lady there told me she would go into the call centre and speak to them...within 10 mintues someone rang and said they would send out the box today...since then I have had a "courtesy call" to let me know the box is on the way. Why is it that to get decent service you have to take extreme measures? Cheaper than Foxtel Shocking customer service, VERY bad signal
Terrible – Had Selectv for 8 months biggest mistake crap channels and now with price wise makes it even less value for money have gotten Foxtel back and will never look back SelecTV was the worst tv package ive ever had... If you can get Foxtel don't even bother with SelecTV Its cheap you get what you pay for... Biggest piece of crap I've ever had box… Read more
kept losing picture had to power down atleast 4 times a day and reset it.
nothing on half the time and promised more decent channels and all they do is come up with 2 kids channels for an extra $8 per month so it was good bye to SelecTV for me and Hello to Foxtel again
Good – The package isn't bad value if you are into movies and documentaries and can live without 10 sports channels. Admittedly, I was having all the problems that are described in the reviews so far, but then one of the biggest pros of SelecTV being that you can supply your own STB, I simply spent a bit more on a HDMI PVR and they were gone for good.… Read more
Being that I am not in a Foxtel area, and have had nothing but problems with Austar's MyStar system, I decided to give SelecTV the benefit of the doubt. Dont bother ringing for help though, you wait on the line for 40mins to be told to reset your decoder at the wall like you havnt tried that 5 times already.
SelecTV is currently no competition for Foxtel, but as Austar is without a HDMI compatible OEM STB that isnt fraught with problems and channels full of Mobile phone adds then SelecTV certainly gives Austar a run for it's money. No contract, OEM STB not required for use, cheap, minimal advertising, potential. Channel library is minimal, and you will only ever watch 3/4 of them as the other quarter is jsut crap like ftv and sky racing. SelecTV branded STB gave terrible picture quality and reliability. Atrocious customer support.
Good – Recently we chose Selectv over Foxtel, our reasoning being that the channels provided better suited our needs - we would have to 'upgrade' the foxtel package to get most things we wanted. We have young kids, so 3 kids channels is great, and the '4.1' movie channels (Movie 1 and 2 are the same) are obviously the drawcard. And yes, we like NG and… Read more
Discovery - though strange you can't get Discovery channel itself. Unfortunately, the box Selectv supplies has no HD output, and the 4:3 channels look *lousy* on our HDTV, so seriously consider your own box and installation into the equation if considering Selectv. And we discovered that using the 'Channel Up/Down' button can cause the box to seize up.
What it also lacks, is the 'old TV repeat' kind of channels that Foxtel has, and the infinite options. But we're happy with it. Good variety of channels (compared to *base* foxtel package) Box supplied is nasty, no hd support
OK – Overall, not bad for the price. There are not so many channels but that is to be expected seeing as it is budget TV. I have not had too many technical issues myself, apart from signal dropping out (and always in the good part of the movie) which can be a little frustrating at times. The do have a good variety of channels to make everyone happy.… Read more
In my opinion, it is better than the lowest priced package of Foxtel because Select TV has movie channels - where Foxtel does not provide any movie channels in their lowest package deal. Good for people on a budget and wanting some additional channels to watch and who are not fussed with only 20-something extra channles as opposed to Foxtel's huge range. Good value for money, no contracts signal sometimes drops out
Bad – i was interested in connecting my tv with select tv,but on ringing them up to inquire about what channels they had to offer and at what price it would cost for 22 channels a month,i was a bit taken back as it wasnt as cheap as it first sounds promotoes a lot of adds on tv so you do hear a lot about them, they state it doesnt cost much it says on… Read more
the adds it costs just over one dollar a day,but if you work it out it isnt that cheap compared to other companies for the month

Terrible – I spose if you cant afford foxtel or optus and still want movie channels this is the only alternative perhaps when they grow bigger mabey the service will improve? Cheap I guess you get what you pay for images are always breaking up and sound is terrible sometimes i only get one side of audio. Customer service takes so long and is hard to talk to anyone.
Good – Great price for what you get.Movies,Animal Planet,Nat Geo Channels, Discovery Science etc .No chance I would go back to Optus or Foxtel. Had selectv since July 2006 and after 8 years of OPTUS tv I find that it suits my viewing habits for a total of $35.95 per month.I have enough sport on free to air so foxtels sport packages doesn`t interest. Contacting by phone a slight problem.
Terrible – We chose SelecTV over Austar because of the pricing. It was approx. half the price for similiar channels. We have had SelecTV for approx. 2 months and are very disappointed. The old saying "You get what you pay for" certainly comes true for SelecTV. We have had more time without it than with it. Constant error messages, eg: Service is currently… Read more
scrambled and searching for service. SelecTV offer very limited help and technical support. The phone service directs you to use their website which offers basic help. When we have spoken to a SelecTV person they continually tell us that it is probably a faulty LNB (the receiver on the dish). We have had a private technician out to check this out and he advised us that all was fine. Good program package Constanty loses service, lack of tech. support, waiting times on hold
Good – Very happy with service. Occasionally no service, so I just switch power to stb off at mains and switch back on and that always does the trick.Could do with a few more channels, at extra charge of course. Cost and good channel selection could do with a few more documentary channels
Terrible – Very bad customer sevice, operating hours are restrictive. Pay the extra and go with FOXTEL and get much better customer service No contract Extreamly long on hold times (90 mins, 83 min and 105 min just to set up my card The first two times I called the call was "dropped" and hence the other two calls. you would think a "sales" line would answer the phone a bit quicker
