Sadly, Greed has got in the way, of what used to be a great very useful product. As of 2025 the makers don’t just want you buying it, but they expect you to rent it off them as well. Alex control used to be free, but now only available if you pay the monthly rent as well. Show details

Gross monetisation practices, – AVOID SENSIBO! Absolutely sickening practice of trying to wring every penny out of you with the app’s ridiculous subscription model. Good Product but functions which should be standard are hidden behind subscription paywall – The product is very basic in function although it provides this functionality in an easy to use package. Pros === 1. Wide IR field of view. I have one of the units behind the bed just poking out with the air-conditioner at a reasonably sharp angle and it works as expected. 2. Included temperature sensor. Potentially would allow you to make… Read more

informed decisions based on room temperature but... (see cons). 3. Great integration with Home Assistant. At first I thought they may restrict the temp sensor to force people to use Sensibo Plus but hats off to them for not doing that. 4. Geofencing is a great feature. Want your air-conditioning to kick off x kilometres away from your home. Geofencing will do that and is not part of Sensibo Plus. Another thumbs up. 5. All modes which I use on my remote are auto setup on the Sensibo. 6. Auto-detection of both my remotes. Self learning will try and identify the remote unit and configure accordingly. You do not have to learn each function.

Cons === 1. Climate react is free to use if set manually. However it does require a subscription if you want to schedule this.

Conclusion Now I must say I think 3 starts is a bit harsh but 4 starts I think is too generous so let me say I give it a 3.5 stars as is. Sensibo Plus one could argue maybe worth it just for the graphing functionality an of course the extra cost the company would incur to store this information on an ongoing basis but come-on. Do not remove basic functionality to bolster the pressure to purchase the plus package. I feel like on of those people that are enticed to buy something and then rather than considering them valued customers. An opportunity exists now to make more money from them.

EDIT (17/12/2023): I have modified my rating by 1 start and have modified the con to state that climate react, the climate sensor is free if performed manually. It does require subscription if scheduling which is still somewhat of a concern, but if your like me you just use Home Assistant to schedule based on temp and if you have enough solar power to run it off grid.

Sensibo Sky – I bought three to work with my Midea AC’s. Be forewarned they are not compatible and do not automatically sync with the Sensibo App. I purchased these sensors so I have some view of how much my renters are using the AC and also to keep the place cool when there are no renters. other condo which has LG units. I have been working with tech support for over two weeks (by email) which has taken a ridiculous amount of my time and has not consistently corrected the problem, which makes these useless to me. Everyday I wake up to another test they want me to try and excuses on why they don’t work. I am beyond frustrated and I am still waiting for an answer as to whether I will get my money refunded. Tech support continues to insist that the sensors limited function and continued inconsistency is acceptable but it isn’t as advertised. If the units aren’t syncing with the App then the units could be running continuously when they are showing as off on the Sensibo App. Do Not buy these if you have Midea AC’s!!! EDIT-still working with the dodgy tech support on this issue. Woke up yesterday and could no longer see my sensors showing up on the App. I tried to reinstall and the QR code is now invalid…What???? I write to the tech support and they explain that because I have asked for a refund they have disabled my sensors and I should rest assured that the returns department is working diligently to get me a refund! I feel like I was robbed.

I have 3 of these - Simple and Effective Remote Management – - Remote control functions work well - seems to allow for most if not all of the normal air con control functions (also allows for login from a web address so you can use devices other than phones too) - Allows for an advanced timer schedule - Embedded sensor in the devices allows temperature tracking and full audit trail of who turned on/off… Read more

aircon and when (including temperature changes). Allows multiple users to access controls. - Works over internet - while out am now able to turn aircon on before getting home - Ability to set device to turn on against temperature thresholds. Handy when sleeping.

- Automated setup was a little clunky on android (wifi auto setup didn't work first time). Was easy enough to manually work around using instructions from their website to directly login to device to set wifi network - but I sent an email to their support who said they are taking it on board. If setup fails don't fear as there is a work around and it is worth the hassle to get setup.

Great Gadget – If you are into gadgets and smart home devices Sensibo Sky is a must. Easy to set up with my wifi and aircon and has all the features of the remote controller. My Sensibo device sits about 3.5 metres below my aircon and about 10 metres from my wifi modem and all works seamlessly from anywhere in the house and anywhere my phone can access wifi. As a smart home devotee I can recommend this product. Show details

It does the Job ! – There are some limitations, but I give it 5 because it has been a blessing in this hot weather whilst we have been both Home and Away from the house and it is reasonably easy to use. or it won't function! I have mine attached onto the wall with a truss (round head) screw, and Sensibo is visible to the Air Con. Best not to stick them on in case the glue fails, causing it to fall. However, if your Internet fails, you have lost access to the Sensibo unit, which means if you are away for a few days and had the Air Con turned on, Sensibo Sky can't be reached. NOTE: Your Air Con is not there to be looked at, so get the most out of it, especially when the weather is uncomfortable.

Terrible to install but works well if you succeed – I have 3 units. They are terribly difficult to make the initial connection to your home network and fail repeatedly. I have had to enter each on a manual setup and then had to turn off the home mesh system so that only the router was in and even then failed multiple times. Once setup it works very well and is convenient. The instillation though is not “easy to install’ as claimed! Show details

Works well but hard to justify the price given advanced features cost more money – Happy enough with the product but it has some shortcomings. Whilst it is easy to setup and use and has nice user interface, the hardware itself is nothing fancy and basic at it's core which makes the price a little hard to swallow. Sensibo are Not up front about Needing ongoing subscription to use "locked" features - money gouge – Important features are hidden behind a paywall / premium subscription. This is not advertised , and I would not have bought had I have know this. Spend all that money, and then to find out the features you need are only accessed by ongoing subscription - it does not sit well with me. Its feels like a scam, and it feels like a money gouge. … Read more

Sensibo - you should be transparent about the subscription or simply include the feature without the need for ongoing subscription. Sensibo, you need to do better - be better.

That being said, I never had a problem with the device, and how it worked. Setup was easy, and there was enough options (once you paid the subscription, of course) to suit your individual situation.

It there was no subscription, I'd give 5 star. As it stands, I would investigate and buy something else with no subscription.

Full of frustration and disappointment – The device worked intermittently for around 3 months but has since just become a dust collector. We have tried uninstalling the app, re-connecting the device, re-confirming the remote type but it fails to do anything. A great idea but poor execution. Absolute rubbish, no response from support – Set up failed three times. Tried contacting their support. After 5 attempts still no response. OK controller, poor infra-red remote range – This Sensibo Air (not Sky) is being used with a Daiken A/C. We want to turn on the AC remotely. Spam Product – For a $325 product the app is so frustrating that it’s not worth using the product. On opening it spams you with extended warranty sales. And then…. Waste of money folks, rather buy a built in WIFI controller for your airconditioner – My dissappintment with this product. 1. There is no auto detection/update to the app that the air-conditioner is turned on or off. Meaning, if it was turned on with the standard remote, the state of the app is not updated. This defeats setting a schedule to turn off an aircon at a set time, meaning if it was off, it now turns on. (Not desired) … Read more

2. With Google Home, to turn the aircon on, you need to select the "on off" button and then select cool or heat, and to turn off the same process selecting "off". So many steps. As with the Sensibo app, you will not know if it had been turned on or off with a standard remote. A built-in Wifi controller to my Mitsubishi heavy industries overcame the problem with Sensibo. I now have two Sensibo units to trash. - Waste of money

3. Features like "Silent" on the standard remote cannot be replicated on the app. Fan speed yes, but not ultra slow/silent. This means for full functionality a standard remote needs to be handy. :(

4. Graphs of temperature and humidity is features don't really interest me. I guess it was a lesson learned, as there is no real benefit in these Sensibo controllers.

Good, but the company will spam you – I bought this unit a few months ago and it works better than the A/C's in-built thermostat. It's useful to be able to see past temperature data too (plus pre-emptively put AC in cooling mode if weather is supposed to be hot). #1 complaint: The. Company. Will. Spam. You. Product is a great idea needing better customer service – The unit is easy to set up and integrate with Google Home. I eventually bought two, one for the living room and one for the bedroom. Overall it works well but it has two problems. When the Sensibo server goes down, which to be fair , is infrequent, the device is completely useless. I also have issues with the labelling of the air direction in the app but Sensibo customer support have difficulty in understanding problems and resolving them. Show details

Used to work with Apple Siri but now no longer – The set up process is fairly simple, and once the unit recognises your air conditioner model, the app allows for full functionality of all the basic functions. I wish there was another option to recommend, but if you want smart control of an IR A/C they are kind of your only choice. While the product worked it was pretty neat, but I couldn’t really recommend taking the risk that you might get faulty hardware that they won’t help to replace, or the fact that what you’re buying will only work as long as their company stays afloat.
