One star is generous for these liars...

After having some taps done I noticed that the plumber had left scratches on the vanity top where he had put his tools. When I brought this to his attention he flatly denied doing it and said they were there before which I know they were not. There was nothing I could do. Beware, take pictures before letting these people near your bathroom so you have proof

Job number #347180. We discovered an underground leak in our family room near our kitchen. After calling Service Today, a plumber was sent the same day to evaluate the situation. I was prepared for the worst: a concrete cutter to dig up my tiles and concrete and ultimately the cost of new flooring. However Steven and Dion spent 7 hours the following day redirecting our pipes through wall cavities and the roof in order to avoid the dig. The job was done efficiently and professionally. I can't thank them enough!

Prompt and Friendly Service

I called yesterday afternoon and they arranged service this morning. Ben arrived in time and was friendly. He also explained reasons of the blocked drain (Job 347305). After fixed the drain problem he did a comprehensive inspection for my smoke alarm, water tank, toilets. Very friendly. Happy with the service.

Excellent job at an Excellent price!

Great practical solution to our guttering problem, and no longer an eye sore. The piping sized was increased to improve flow and the runoff pipe moved to under our decking so it is almost invsible.

I diagnosed the concealed leak, I cut out the ceiling to gain access to it. They replaced the 2ft of plastic pipes

I told them the ceiling drip was increasing despite the upstairs bathroom not being used for 2 weeks whilst my mother was and is still in the hospital. Now doesn't that mean its an immediate point leak?

They quoted me over $387 to check that the leak wasn't coming from the showers upstairs by putting a bucket of dyed water in the showers and screwing a pressure gage on the shower outlet only to find no leaks. Gee, what a half-hour cost?

So I cut out the ceiling myself to show them where the pipe was leaking, yep there it was. (so he halved the upstairs shower testing charge thank God, I guess he felt guilty)

But then they charged me $520 to cut out a bit of plastic pipe and crimp in place 2 foot of 1/2 inch and 1-inch diameter plastic water pipe which was less than 40mins work - see photos

And yet now the gaping hole is still left in the ceiling because restoration would double or triple the cost....guess Ill have to find a better quote for this.

So the Net cost to crimp in 2ft of slim plastic pipe see photos (with the so-called pensioner discount already included) $713.69

The actual repair took less than 40 mins....$713.69 that's one day short of a weeks wage for me.....should I become a plumber?

Hi David, I have located your job details and can see that you were given upfront pricing on the first visit and returned the following day and completed the job. Our technicians were onsite for more than 3 hours and completed the work for you. I am sorry you feel you were overcharged but I can see that we came out within hours of receiving your call. You did have the price over $200 discounted and did accept the work to be done. At Service Today we always provide our customers with upfront pricing with the opportunity to decline the quote if they feel it is to expensive but we will still honour the lifetime warranty for the work we have completed. Kind Regards, JoannePrecisely I had to pay a $50 call out fee with no assessment or agree to a $387 assessment before he would even look at what was wrong. After finding nothing wrong in the first hour he suggested I cut out the wall ceiling and cornice to reveal the dripping pipe in the obvious place, so he watched me do this work for the second hour. Then he said repair would cost another $520 on top and that no one would likely do it cheaper. But he only gave me two options either I must pay for the agreed diagnosis $387 without any repair and he could leave and not come back with no work done and no repair.....or sign an agreement to the full fee of $713 including immediate $400 deposit one or the other before he leaves. Obviously, why would I choose to lose $387 with no repair done so I was stuck to deposit $400 and commit to the $713 but how was I supposed to know it would only take 40mins work (the other 30mins was when they left the site to go back to bunnings because the corner consultant ordered the wrong diameter plastic pipe. I still maintain the original assessment $387 was overpriced and fruitless because self-diagnosed anyway and the actual plumbing repair work was only 40mins at $520 again overpriced but I could not get out of the agreement after agreeing to the assessment without losing either $387 or $400 deposit and not getting anything repaired

A total rip off

This company quoted my elderly mother nearly $600 to replace a tap. I cannot for the life of me fathom how they can arrive at this price. Even to go and pick up a tap from bunnings which wasn't more than $70 and then come back and put it in, it ends up being $250 per hour

rip off prices

The technician that turned up was very polite and efficient.
The price was hugely inflated, three times that of other electricians, this was with the discount already applied and no call out fee.
We paid over $350 to have an oven installed, thinking that this was a lot I called other electricians and was told that $120 was the standard price.
They will not quote over the phone, as others do; but on the job, when you just want to get it done; essentially we felt trapped.
We unwittingly paid $150 for the privilege of being in the total care club and being overcharged.
I will not be calling Service Today again

Fantastic Service

Besides the staff being lovely, the action we required was fast, fantastic and efficient. Once job#346319 was completed it came with efficient documentation and also a payment plan was available. So to me that is 10/10 service. Thanks again!

What a rip off!!!!

I needed a bathroom basin replaced. The job took an hour, the only materials used was some silicone and the cost was $417.00. I contacted them to complain and received a reply that they would look into it, never heard from them again. Other plumbers afterwards gave me verbal quotes that were half the cost. We'll never use them again.

Life savers

Had a small emergency with an old switchboard arcing and crackling. They were here in 1/2 hour due to the danger. Replaced on the spot and organised inspection. All the guys were extremely pleasant and helpfull. Could not have asked for better service. Thank you all very much. Would highly recommend these guys.

Don't believe their advertising!

I was fooled by the special offer blocked drains and $50 off. But they dont try hard at all to unblock the drain and very quick in quoting 12,000 to fix it. No way I can pay this price so I end up calling another plumber who to my relief was able to unblock the drain straight away.

Suspect price

Required an electrician on a Saturday morning due to a power failure and contacted Service Today. Price quoted a call out fee of $89, which seemed very reasonable. The technician found the problem to be a faulty Safety Switch and then quoted a total price of $550 to replace it - and this included a $50 "Yellow Pages" discount! I think companies know that once they get a call out - especially for a weekend emergency - the customer is unlikely to reject them and go elsewhere. Therefore they offer a low call out rate and then charge whatever they like for the job.

They did a great job

They did my kitchen tap and my shower head and they cleaned up after and took rubbish with them and I would recommend them to other people . They were friendly and on time.

Overpriced Scam

Booked a Service today electrician online, gave a description of the jobs I’d like to have completed. Electrician rolled in after the allocated timeframe.
Didn’t have the dimmer switches in his van or an LED downlight. Provided a verbal quote of $760 and said he would return at 7am the following morning if I gave him a $100 deposit.
9am and he is a no show. Won’t answer his mobile and text back saying ‘at an emergency job’.
I contacted the office to cancel and get a refund. Had a heated exchange of words as staff giving me a nonsense excuse about refund procedure. Finally they transfer to accounts department for a refund in 1-2 days.
Local electrician has now completed the same task for $280

Disaster from start to finish

Simple electrical fault causing the circuit board to flick off. The inexperienced tech that came couldn't work out what it was. Then recommended the entire board be upgraded. I just paid what was way too much for nothing having been done. Another local electrician came and he traced the problem to a faulty toaster. The cost for the second electrician was only $150 and a lot less than I paid Service Today to do nothing

We had bad experience with your service. So disappointed, your so called electrician left air condition main circuit board cable disconnected while investigation. As a result, Samsung air con. tech didn't attempt to fix the air con issue. Because of your electrician's negligence, we have to pay price for that. I had good 45 minutes chat with your receptionist at Adelaide. I asked her to book an electrician to connect the cable at circuit board, which he had disconnected without any reason. He should be liable to fix the issue rather creating another issue on top. She kept on asking for call out fee of $49.00 even though that was not our fault. Its all your electrician's fault. Why should we be responsible for that. She also mentioned its in our terms and condition. You guys are worst ever i encounter of. i never ever recommend to other people.
