Best HD tv – Nov 2020. Purchased 2 in 2012 and they still work and the picture is excellent, especially when upscaling kicks in on new movies. Colour is fantastic. Plenty of connections. Well pleased. Show details
Great, when it worked – Bought the 46 inch version of this and was very happy with it for 3 years until it gradually started to lose its signal intermittently. This eventually increased until it was dropping its bundle every 8 minutes, which makes doing anything or watching anything impossible. Out of warranty, of course and nobody answering the phone at the… Read more
recommended service agent helped me decide that a whole new TV was the way to go. Shameful that a high end TV doesn't even last 5 years! colour, clarity and steadiness of the picture. heavy, clumsy remote, short lived.
Shattering – My boss purchased the LC40LE820X TV for me as a parting gift for 12 years of service to his company. After we assembled the TV and positioned on the cabinet, we discovered that the remote didn't work. Tried new batteries, but nothing. Fortunately, within the warranty period, Sharp provided a replacement remote. On the Sunday before… Read more
Christmas 2013, after 18 months of the TV standing, without moving - in the same place on the entertainment cabinet, for no reason and without warning - the glass on the stand shattered. Small pieces of glass have been found 1-2 metres away from the stand. Very dangerous if there were people in the room at the time.
It would appear that there is an initial design fault in the fitting of the glass to the stand, because there's nowhere for it to go when other components in the stand flex or expand with heat and cold.
The 'cosmetic' look of the (now shattered glass), would have been just as effective by using polished Perspex.
I have approached Sharp via email, with photos of the shattered glass, the theories of how & why the glass shattered, and have asked them to help me resolve the issue, because it's dangerous.
The TV is working well, but the shattered glass remains on the stand at this time, because I need to know how to remove it safely, and also need to find out how to keep the stand stable at the same time.
So far, Sharp are refusing to acknowledge the design fault, and are not offering to help resolve the issue, because of the online purchase warranty period. They have advised me that I need to buy a replacement stand for over $200.00, which may not be available, because the TV model is no longer made. There are no alternative stands available to suit the model.
Knowing that the glass on the stand is not stable, I feel it would be a waste to buy a new stand, because of the likelihood that the glass in it would meet the same fate as it has in the current stand.
Because of the lack of customer service from Sharp, I cannot recommend their products to anyone. Buyer beware. The TV itself is running really well, and the picture is good. The remote not user friendly in bad light. The glass on the stand is dangerous, and has shattered without warning.
Sharp - devious and dishonest – Purchased a Sharp 60 inch colour TV model number LC-60LE830X. Was told it had a Japanese screen and 3 year factory warranty. The main difference between the one in the shop and the one we got is the one in the shop worked - must have been a special order - and the one we bought has no warranty. The screen had a vertical line through it.… Read more
Called Sharp Corporation of Australia (Sharp) who sent a repairer out to inspect. Repairer said the fault would have to be repaired but after many weeks the repairer advised that it could not be fixed despite numerous attempts.
Finally, the repairer (not Sharp) advised that a replacement TV had arrived.
But get this, the "replacement" model is a much lower specification: model 60LE830X.!!! The so called 'replacement' model does not have the "3D Quattron - 4 Primary colour technology" and 200Hz screen. The LC-60LE640X is advertised on the Sharp website as only having a "100Hz panel". I advised Sharp that the replacement TV was not acceptable and I could not accept it.
I used the analogy of paying for a six-cylinder car only to have it replaced with a four-cylinder car. I advised Sharp that they could either repair the TV at their expense or replace it with a model with the same key features or refund my money as required by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Sharp has been unresponsive in addressing this issue.
Never buy Sharp products - the company is truly awful and their products simply do not work.
Never worked. No warranty. Devious company to deal with
We purchased a 46 inch 200hz panel from HN 14 months later 1 trip to the repairer to pick it up… Read more
No Warranty – I bought the TV. Two things went wrong inside six months. The motherboard failed and needed replacing (which they did). At the same time a pixel failed, giving me a permanent green dot right in the middle of the screen. Sharp have refused to ackowledge this as a fault, claiming I agreed to the terms when I bought the TV. This is rubbish - I never agreed to them. First six months of viewing Rude, unhelpful, unresponsive warranty service.
LC60LE830X – I purchased the LC60LE830X 4 months ago now; I got the set on special (reduced to $2200) from Harvey Norman Braybrook. So far I am happy with the TV and as the cost I purchased the set for meant it was the cheapest 60” LED LCD out of the big 4 being Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Sharp. Being a 60“TV the big picture at times can be quite… Read more
pixelated with SD content and at times can look unnatural and muddy, this includes when playing DVD’s.
Blu-ray and HD is where this TV shines, showing a very detailed picture, motion is smooth and the TV is a pleasure to watch in HD.
The latest Samsung TV’s offer a much better picture quality all round and much better apps. But at this price and me not needing all of the bells and whistles I chose this TV instead.
The remote could use back lighting as it is very hard to see at night, and very easy to hit the wrong button due to the buttons being smaller than the average remote.
The 4th ‘Yellow’ pixel that Sharp claims enhances the picture quality over an RGB TV is, in my opinion, ‘gimmicky marketing’ it looks no different to a normal TV… in fact most Samsung LED LCD TV’s offer much richer and sharper picture qualities from seeing them in the store.
3D is good, no different to a Samsung or Sony panel.
The TV itself is gorgeous the Blue Light under the Sharp logo adds a touch of class to the set, there are not many other bells and whistles superficially other than a small silver strip around the edge of the TV.
Overall I would opt to go with a Samsung again over a Sharp, but for what I need for the next 3 years this TV will do :) Quality Look Average Picture Quality
sharp is cheap and nasty! – I was sent out this tv to replace my other sharp tv that broke after 2yrs, was told that the replacement tv was new never been out of its box only thing is we cant sell due to box damage, we get tv and only to find out its been refurbed, and they call this new. the so called new tv they sent us had scratches all over it, batteries missing and other… Read more
items relating to tv were not in box and they call it new, more a returned tv they have decided to try repair and had the nerve not only to pass it off as new on several occassions but only offer 9month warranty.
Weve been run around and lied to and insulted enough by sharp customer service and management for over 4 and half months only to be constantly lied to and treated like trash. i urge ppl in australia and all over the world to avoid sharp products as they are useless just like there customer service and management are.
Also recently been told by asharp repairest and there customer service that sharp do use reco and second hand parts to repair tvs, this is why sharp are so cheap and flimsy.
For ppl in australia the best course of action is consumer affairs.
Was simply terrible.
