Sistema Stainless Steel Bottle Double Wall Questions & Answers

Update: "Due to a programme glitch (at Sistema)" it took a shocking 2 weeks 2 days to respond regarding how on earth you wash the lid if you're not supposed to immerse it in water (as per the confusing cleaning instructions). Too late of course by then - I wanted to use my bottle and washed the lid (though no full immersion). And then I received this "We do not recommend immersing the lids fully into water as a precaution to ensure the bottles hold the temperatures as advertised. The reason is that the lids have Styrofoam pieces inside the lids which hold the temperature so if any liquid gets under the dome, it will damage the interior and your bottle will not hold the temperature advertised. For cleaning we do recommend removing the seal and washing in liquid but for the remaining part of the lid we advise that this should only be wiped with a damp cloth. I have got our Quality Team to cut a lid open so that you can view what is inside." (image attached under product review) I've suggested they have the Quality Team undertake an immediate and substantial overhaul of the cleaning instructions, which are SERIOUSLY DEFFICIENT! Needless to say my bottle does not perform as well as I would've expected.

The cleaning before use leaflet says: 1. Before first use hand wash ALL PARTS with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.2. Remove the flexible seal from lid, noting seal orientation...etc All good so far, until you get to the second paragraph where about half way through it says "DO NOT immerse lid in water" How in the heck do I "hand wash ALL PARTS" but "DO NOT immerse lid in water"?? And what happens if I immerse the lid in water?

Stainless steel double walled flasks work on the principle of creating a vacuum between the walls, which means the air has been removed. Unless you put toxic substances into the flask or dropped into a toxic substance, it should be fine. If you were to elaborate on the elements of your concerns, then a more informed answer could be given

I think that however, I purchased the 1lt bottle if you put room temperature water in it at night, the water is far too cold to drink by morning. The bottle does not insulate from air temperature inside my home. Why ?

I bought the $30 dollar bottle for my husband who does nightshift to keep a warm drink...For some reason it just doesn't keep it hot anymore..Please advice as he loved to have a hot cup of lemon and ginger on a cold nightshift. I have just lost my job and cannot afford to buy another one especially if it happens again

Hi. If the seal is still good it shouldn't change. Test it by filling with boiling water, put lid on and wait ten minutes. When you undo it after that you should hear some pressure release. To keep my things hot during the cold months like we are having now I preheat the bottle by filling with boiling water and letting it sit to absorb the heat throughout the inner wall for a good 10 minutes or more. When I empty and fill it with my drink of whatever I then wrap the bottle completely in a tea towel or anything like that. This insulates the outer layer from the cold. I used to do this with all my drink thermoses regardless of brand and it makes a big difference in the colder months. Only take the towel or whatever you use off when your about to use it and pour. All or most thermoses if you feel them after filling and waiting, you will feel warmth around the top fill section area and cap. Pay attention to keep that section covered in the cold weather as that is the major heat transfer point. Cheers.

I do all that heat the bottle before use each time.....I think it's somehow lost the ability to keep things hot...

Thanks for your help. I took the seals off, as suggested on product info, and I’m drying them thoroughly. Cheers
