Smeg 60cm Classic Aesthetic Thermoseal Oven SFA6301TN
VerifiedMPN: SFA6301TN1 review
We just moved into our new home with Smeg appliances in time to cook Christmas lunch. Very exciting! No time to read instructions but, hey, how hard is it to operate a simple oven? We turned it on and a foul smell soon spread throughout the house! One of our family became so ill she had to leave the house. After reading the instructions it turns out you are supposed to run it on high for an hour before using it before using it to cook! What sort of manufacturer makes you do this without a warning sticker on it rather that burying it in some some instruction book? It might be a nice oven but it wasnt a good Christmas!
Follow-up · I would love to report that we are now in love with our oven but regretfully we wish we had selected something else. Not only was Christmas lunch ruined but one of the guests had lingering health problems from the smell. There may have been something in the instructions about this but who reads the fine print instructions on an oven! They should be intuitive. And speaking of which the user interface is horribly non intuitive. To top it all off, it would be so bad if it worked well but it is under-powered compared with most (850W) and the food comes out burnt in some areas and cold in others. With Smeg brand, which we have bought we expected much much better.
Yes. When I say it is under powered and poor user interface I am referring to your combo microwaves of which we bought 3 and wish we had chosen a different brand. We bought Smeg because we thought it was a good brand.

Dear Robert, Thank you for your review. Regardless of oven brand, you need to perform an initial burn-off to remove any residues from the manufacturing process. You mention the oven being underpowered? Are you referring to a microwave oven? Our ovens are rated at 3,000 watts to offer you the best cooking results. Have you contacted us to discuss these problems? Regards Smeg
