Excellent – Had it 12-15 years. Nearly faultless, although the epg was slow to pick up the schedules. Show details
Disappointed in Sony customer service shadow on left side were inputs are as pictured – Regarding wifi I have a bolt dongle USB charge will I have to purchase another dongle? Sony/Samsung dongle will it work with my bolt dongle Disappointed in customer service No support for products 4 years + Shadow on left hand side were inputs are see picture. Was a big fan of Sony Bravia but disappointed now I own a Blu Ray BDP-3200, 2018-19 model still no support more about play station they seam to focus on Show details
Worst tv and support – Worst tv and support. Spent 30 mins with support just for them to repeat themselves. And then put me on hold and then repeat. Had this tv for about 5 years cannot connect to internet but three Samsung I've had for 10 years can. Never but Sony again.
Panel failure – The panel of this TV started to show white lines in less than 5 years of infrequent use. Many people on internet are complaining about the same issue which means that this model has a manufacturing defect. Sony support were so bad and slow at replying, at the end, they asked us to pay around 600$ to replace the panel. We decided to never buy a Sony TV again.
LED Panel issues – Do not buy this TV model. I own 2 and both have the same issues with the screen horizontal lines and colour distortions. After reading other reviews I realise that must be a problem to this especific model. Definitely give it a miss! No worth the money you are investing. Show details
Good TV! – You can download apps on this tv which is useful to watch videos on big screens like YouTube and Netflix. I would watch them on my iPad but now I watch them on here! This tv is very useful for me because the controls are easy to understand and the tv is easy to set up! Show details
reliable tv – really good quality and display speakers work well has hdmi and usb port which is really helpful i have had this tv for more than 4 years and still running. remote working perfect and really durable. i use a chrome cast on it now and it works perfectly fine with no issue. overall great tv for the price Show details
Been a good reliable TV – We've had this TV for about 5 years and its been good and trouble free. No picture issues, remote working 100% in a household with children - a good clean image straight out of the box. Colours not oversaturated, movement not blurry at speed, smart functions fine though not all still being supported lately (which is as much as Sony and Youtube etc… Read more
not working together).
Recommended for a trouble-free experience and a picture quality expected from a more expensive model.
Certainly not built to last – I have this TV and it was OK. I didn't think the "Smart TV" functions were very good, often they just wouldn't work for no apparent reason. I had it connected with Ethernet, so the problem definitely wasn't to do with wireless. I basically ended up rarely using it. Also has some, hard to describe, intermittent sound problems right from the… Read more
beginning, that I could never put a service call in about as it was intermittent (the sound would badly echo every so often).
I also thought that the instructions were hard to follow, certainly not intuitive, I still had to get the manual out, every time I wanted to do anything out of the ordinary, after years of use.
However, I put up with that and wasn't too worried, but I spent a lot of money on it and expected it to last for years. (I still have another TVs in the house that are older, spent a lot less on, and they still work).
Now, I bought a PVR and it is supposed to be connected with HDMI, but the Sony HDMI connections won't work with it. At first I thought that the PVR was faulty (the picture and sound kept cutting out) and was about to demand my money back, but I then tried it on another, older and cheaper TV that only has ONE HDMI connection and it works fine on that one. Then I tried it on my oldest TV, that too works fine).
When I phoned Sony, (after getting me to reset it, etc.) I was told that this is just the way it is, I should upgrade my TV!!!
The warranty has run out, of course, but he said that I am welcome to put in a service call, but he doubts anything could be done, and would still have to pay the call out fee.
They did offer a discount on a new TV (although I could probably shop around and get a better deal) however, after this experience, my next TV will definitely not be a Sony!
I know that some people replace all their gadgets every time something newer and shinier comes on the market, but I am not like that. Being a pensioner, I couldn't afford to be like that, even if I wanted to.
Don't buy a sony bravia television – I paid top dollar $3,000 for a 40" sony bravia T.V at JB hi-fi. After the first twelve months the screen stopped working on one side, leaving the other side totally black. It was still under warranty, so I returned It to be fixed hoping that It would be the end of the problem. Six months later the T.V stopped working completely, just after the… Read more
warranty expired and the T.V repairer said It wouldn't be worth fixing.I was not only disappointed, but shocked that sony can make such a lousy t.v.
Ironically,I bought a cheap soniq t.v for $500 and It hasn't skipped a beat for over two years now and has a quality picture that supersedes a sony bravia's picture.
I'll never buy a sony T.V ever again.
You don't always get what you pay for.
Disappointing TV, panel issue within 2.2years – Within short time (2.2yrs) I got a panel issue which costs Rs.23000....which is not affordable ...even though we ready spending money on second time but they not assured/warranty the product that works well after repair .hate using this brand.very poor customer service.spending money on this product is not worth. After that I heard this model got… Read more
several issues within short time....this happens to many people not only me.my advise is not go blindly on the brand name....
Third Class – After 2yrs black horizontal line is coming in tv, which is panel defect, sony persons are asking to give more 20000 to change the panel of the LED.
Do not buy sony – I purchased a 40'' colour Sony LED TV KDL-EX520 in December 2011 Now I am facing the vertical lines and distortion on the screen, when approached the customer care they asked to do the Factory settings which I did but the problem still exists. Then an engineer came to inspect the TV. He told me that it was the display panel problem and which needs to be changed and the cost would be around$600 I can afford it now. Use less tv and tv less me.

Panel issues after 2.5 years – I don't use the TV all that often but I like a good picture when I do. This TV was purchased in a rush with little comparison done. After owning it for a while I was satisfied with the picture and the features I needed were all present. I worked well with my AV receiver using HDMI ARC. There were some issues with the responsiveness of the TV, ie… Read more
accessing menus could be a bit slow. It also takes an age for the TV to respond to the remote after you first turn it on which was quite frustrating at times. all in all I was content to use it for the next few years. However 2.5 years after purchasing it the panel displayed major issues. The top half of the screen showed lines and "buzzing" and lost colour. The TV is unusable, but I had taken out an extended warranty at JB so it has been picked up and taken to the repair centre. Connectivity, decent features Stopped working, not convinced of Sony's quality anymore. They no longer make their TV's and many other products in house. Do not be fooled into thinking Sony TV's are of the same quality they were 10 years ago. They lose are no longer profitable in the TV sector and are outsourcing most of their design and manufacturing.
Great TV, would recommend – UPDATED: Had this TV for around 18mths. Very pleased with this TV, use it as a PC monitor and TV, watch a lot of Apple TV online and find its great, did not want to pay for 3D that I would not use. This is our second Sony Bravia in 6 years and would not buy anything else at this stage. For me the price was excellent, I know Samsung seem to… Read more · 1
have a little better picture however I just cannot come at that brand I'm afraid.
Lots of features, clear vibrant picture, good sound, light weight and very slim. Price, screen size and that its a Sony
Sony KDL46EX520 Series – The picture quality and colour is not as dynamic and sharp as I thought it would be. Still good just not as crisp as a Toshiba of roughly the same size. Bought the wifi dongle so as to access internet tv as well. All good. I do like the layout of the programme guide for digital tv as it enables you to peruse the channels without changing the… Read more
channel you are currently on. I love that it has 4 HDMI sockets for quality when connecting other devices. I do like the sound on this tv as the sound can be projected through the front speakers which is great if you don't have a surround sound system. TV Guide, reliable, sound is good. Picture quality not as dynamic and sharp as Toshiba.
Let down in the sound department – I bought this television as a PC monitor replacement intending to use it as a multimedia PC and as well as a home workstation. It takes a lot of fiddling to get a decent quality picture through the VGA input. The sound is a total let down... it's like listening to a laptop. Decent value, energy efficient Poor quality sound
Sony EX520 review – I was going to buy the Sharp LC32D53X, I didn't because it is just HD (720p) and the design looks a bit dated. So the Sony EX520, It's full HD (1080p) and has a nice modern design (for the price). I just wish the remote had less buttons and the swivel was smoother and allowed the TV to rotate more. Full HD, modern design, price. Swivel not smooth enough and doesn't allow the TV to rotate much, too many buttons on remote.
I will not recomend it – I bought this tv hope that pic will be better with new reality engine. I must tell you, the TV (samsung LED TV) i bought 2 Yrs back performs far better than EX520. the images looks too blury and i could not tweak it to make it better. Back light is too poor, image faces too blury, skin tone is too red/yellow even after choosing the best pic… Read more
optimisation possible. Its not the signal as i was using samsung led last week with best pic quality. If i go for PIP mode the smaller image is good but when view at full screen mode i feel like im looking at 20 Ys old TV. The remote is too plastic looking, im unable to even access favourites unless i go through 3 folds of menus! I regret that i spend $900 for this T.V, i would prefer samsung lcd tv.
Watch movies off USB and local network – I mainly watch movies. This TV plays many file formats available on the internet either through USB or from a DLNA server. I started by copying movies to USB, but then realised that the TV can connect to my computer and that means I can access most of the movies without having to copy them first. So that's what I do now. This TV doesn't have 3D… Read more · 4
functionality but I don't need it. The menu system on this TV is exactly the same as that on higher end models like EX720 and higher. I realised that when a friend of mine bought a fancier Sony tv. The remote is almost the same and software is the same. What it's lacking from it's higher end brothers is 3D, glass screen and proximity sensor.
Glass screen would have been nice, but I don't think I want to pay extra $500 for it. Glass looks fancier and is easier to clean.
The TV is smart enough to turn off the picture if there's nobody in the room to watch it. Too bad it doesn't do the same for movies watched off network or USB. I pause a movie and go away. Come back a few hours later and the TV is still on.
There's a SONY-made iPhone/iPad remote control app for this TV. It's an essential ingredient if you want to browse YouTube or do other things that need a keyboard. Without the app you'll spend a lot of time selecting letters with the remote - kind of kills off the fun of spontaneous YouTube browsing.
Overall, this TV has a good picture quality and a good set of features. I don't see myself using it for skype, but that may change in the future. USB, DLNA network connectivity, YouTube, iPhone Remote, Price, Good Picture Doesn't sleep when USB or Local Network movie is paused
Quality you would expect from Sony – Good colour, easy to use, and good favorites. We went for the Sony as we have had good results from other Sony products. The colour is excellent (Which you would expect from the bravia system). There are only a couple of issues that Sony have. EPG system is completely useless, you need to run through all channels to get the EPG information. Sony… Read more · 3
responce is "just live with it", I say listen to your customers Sony and fix. The second problem is no "last viewed" button, you are expected to use the favorite button which takes time to select. Sony... I want to watch a second channel during the ads and flick back to see if my program has started, if this take 5 steps it does not work. Good Colour, EPG system useless, No last channel button
Excellent TV, love it! – This TV is very reasonable and good quality. Even the model is not the updated one, I am very satisfy with it. I have checked the price of this TV recently and found that the price in different shops are vary. And even at the same shop but in different suburb are not selling at same price. So I spent a week in searching the cheapest shop. … Read more
Finally I found Dick Smith closing down shop has an extra 5% discount on top. Therefore, I recommended to the consumer that Do research before you buy otherwise big lost and disappointed. Sony is a reliable brand, the price is reasonable. One of the Dick Smith closing down shop do not have extra 5% discount. The salesman said 5% discount only offered for the original price and asked me whether I want to get this discount from original price or not. So rediculious!
