A long way to go.
Spotify is just very clunky to use in general. One big downfall is when you look through an artist's list of albums or songs you would expect to see some visible icons displaying whether you have downloaded a particular song/album, or whether it is already on one of your play lists, however Spotify does not have this feature. Sometimes it's the simple things that count.
Discriminates against Android users
Simple functions are not available and disabled on android devices. Very disappointed cannot play my favourite playlist in its original order, can only listen to playlists in shuffle mode on my Android phone. This has been done deliberately by Spotify on all android devices but not on apple or other devices. Very disappointing.
Music from across the world at your fingertips for a small fee, love it!
I absolutely love Spotify, it has a vast amount of artists, music types, radio stations etc. for you to listen to at your fingertips. There is always music for every mood / time of the day / family member.
The monthly fee is very reasonable and a lot less than what I spent on CD’s or vinyl on a monthly basis in the past. Spotify also allows you to download music (by the album or playlist if you prefer) so you can also listen on your phone or tablet whenever you have no reception.
I use Spotify with a bunch of Sonos speakers or in the car with...Apple carplay both streaming live or downloaded content which all works well. The only downsides that I can think of is that streaming music does require a stable internet connection, if you don’t have that the app becomes glitchy and very annoying to use, the sound quality is ok most of the time but not up to CD quality standards (although you probably won’t notice that unless you have a very high quality set-up and pay attention). I think it’s a great app which led to me discovering new producers / bands / dj’s that I would have otherwise not heard of and the fee is well worth getting Spotify Premium and get rid of those annoying commercials.
Started the free streaming service and initially it was fine. I could select my favorites playlist or album and it would shuffle play all songs from that list or album. Now when I try to play my favorites list it starts playing a song that I have not requested. When I select an album, it only about 5 songs from that album and then starts on songs that I have not requested. Spotify has gone downhill with it's free streaming, probably to force us to go to premium. Going to look for another streaming service.
Not sure where to start with how unimpressed I am. I could start, possibly, with how the trial of the Premium service that is promoted as free isn't free, when you read the T&Cs, or I could start with the never ending ads, or perhaps how often the program freezes up hard to know where to start really except to say that Spotify is falsely advertised, hardly delivers and the creators have chutzpah to spare. Not impressed.

This app works great just enough to lure you in until it becomes basically useless unless you pay to go premium.
Mind you, in their opinion the simple choosing of a song you put in the playlist which you created while in the 'trial' period is a premium feature.
You enjoy the playlist you made, but only on shuffle, and don't think about adding another song, that's also premium along with every other basic you can think of such as skipping through it.
App equivalent of capitalism. Despicable.

Spotify make offers that are false and misleading
Another offer from Spotify being blasted all over the Internet for a free Google mini if you have a Premium account - which I do. So I logged in and looked and looked but could not find anything? Finally discovered it is not available in Australia, yet it is all over Australian websites as an offer. Total waste of my time - again from Spotify with false and misleading offers. Shame on you Spotify.
Free trial is not free
I signed up for the free trial and cancelled it on the last day (I didn't use it enough). Spotify had already put through the $12 charge. I jumped through hoops to get it refunded on principle. What a nightmare. They would not refund it in the end. Don't do the free trial unless you are sure you will keep the subscription!

No security, my account is hacked CONSTANTLY
I have had to contact the Spotify customer service team way too many times to count as a result of my account being hacked so many times (5+ times in 2 months).
Each time, they require me to prove my identity, log me out of all my devices and then tell me to change my password. The most recent time their advice was to, "change your password to something with lots of characters that's hard to hack." Yeah, no kidding, thanks...
Last of all, despite all the time I've had to take to fix these constant issues, despite being unable to use my accou...nt MULTIPLE times over the course of months, they offer me little more than a very insincere apology for the trouble. There are so many streaming services out there now. Don't choose Spotify, your data is at risk. Just don't do it.
Hacked personal data
Thought my phone had been hacked, because Someone kept using my Spotify account as my recently played songs were Arab and Indonesian music which I don’t play, contacted apple, apple advised that Spotify’s data had been recently hacked and it not only happened to the guy from apple but thousands of other people. Tried to contact Spotify, only way is live chat, wasn’t willing to help until I told them I had evidence that Spotify’s data had been hacked and all personal information was sold including email and passwords, soon changed their mind whe...n I told them I was taking the evidence and seeking legal advise, how quick they were to reimburse me 3 months of the family membership and apologised, told them to cancel my account. Even after I have a confirmation email from Spotify for the cancellation, I am still getting emails saying “welcome back” do t undstand that considering I don’t have the app anymore and the account should have been cancelled Felt I had no choice as I was resetting my password everyday for my gmail and Spotify.
I have been using Spotify since it launched in Australia and switched to premium not long after. The app keeps getting better and better now that it is getting all the desktop features. The catalog keeps expanding and it is the best way to find new music. The personalized functions like the Discovery and the New Release Radar playlists are the best features.
