Apparently, unbeknownst to me, I have been a spotify member under a family plan for 2 years. I recently received an email from spotify informing me of changes to my account. Suspicious that someone was using my email fraudulently I decided to investigate. Pretty simple, I didn’t even need a password to access the account, they just sent a pin… Read more
number to my email. I didn’t recognize any of the other members email addresses, including the managing member, and I also learned that the membership was for accounts based in Ireland whilst I live in Australia. I quickly sent a message to spotify using their “contact us” explaining the issue and closed my (supposed) account. This was last Friday. This morning (Tuesday) I woke up to a message that my account had been accessed by someone from a different IP address so I went back in and guess what the account had been reactivated. Again I sent a waste of time message to the ‘powers that be’ on spotify and made a few alterations before yet again closing the account. I fully expect to receive further emails from spotify in the near future since I changed all future notifications from ‘Push’ to email. I have considered certain details of my own experience and those of others who have left feedback on here, especially those of customers who were charged for over 2 years for 2 accounts even though they only ever opened 1 & only ever had access to 1, and I have come to the conclusion that it is most likely that the problem originates from within Spotify's own ranks.
Should be zero stars. I got caught by a phishing scam. They impersonated Spotify. Usually I am able to spot them but this one got me because they knew things about my Spotify account that should be private information. My payment was due but I had… Read more
no money in tge account. The scammmers sent an email saying the payment failed. So they knew my Spotify account email address, they knew my account was due and they knew the payment failed. It was the fact they had this information that lowered my guard. I lost nearly $800. No.way to get it back. Don't trust Spotify to keep your personal account details secure.
Follow-up · I don't know how they got my data but I suspect from an employee inside Spotify. They knew what day my account was due to be renewed. On this occasion they did not access my account but on a previous occasion someone did and they used it to set-up an extra subscription for themselves. However on that occasion Spotify refunded me and I changed my password so they couldn't do it again.
RIPPED OFF Spotify double dipping into my bank account for almost 12 months. Their business model apparently lets anyone sign up to your account without proper checks and then Spotify say they have no control. They just allow it to happen and then… Read more
take NO responsibility like they are just a baby company. You can’t speak to a person and they exhaust you by mucking you about with writing to a st^pid bot repeating questions and failing to adequately assist. Fair Trading should intervene as this is a practice lacking honesty fairness and integrity. Ripping off customers and then taking no responsibility is just WRONG and I would assume ILLEGAL.
Follow-up · Fair Trading. Confirmed receipt of complaint. Nothing further at this point. ACCC noted and recorded. Civil action costs almost as much to lodge as outstanding $$$. The fact that Spotify can take your money without your permission and then keep it when it is discovered, is the indicator that something is very wrong businesses wise and even with the watchdogs’ capacity to protect consumers.

Clunky & not user friendly – I have just signed up for Spotify Premium on my Samsung phone (S22) and I just noticed that you can't use the "talk to text" button on my phone's keypad with the Spotify app (see attachments) it normally works on anything that uses my keyboard, but with Spotify the microphone button is greyed out and not usable This is really not very good, and… Read more
if I can't use the "voice to text" feature on my phone then it's not suited for me, as I prefer to talk then type, it's 2022 for God Sake
If it's not available, then I'll have to look for something else instead (maybe Amazon music, which is also cheaper)
As a first impression, I'm really turned off with this
BTW I'm not the first person to have this problem, this guy on YouTube is the same, check out this video on YouTube,

I've been a premium member since 2022,they charged me twice every month. I didn't notice as its linked to my PayPal and honestly I never check it. Now 2025 I realized the charges and its still keep going, the total loss reach more than $400 and I sent my complaint but unfortunately they only refund me less than $40. So disappointed, I gave them… Read more
time to refund me for the total loss even if its not all which is fine but how come only $40? Fyi the reason why they double charged me because they said I have 2 different email which doesn't make any sense. My very first few months at the beginning the charges was normal till suddenly they charged me twice. Pls email me to get this things right as I'm sick explaining to different staff all the time and they are all sounds like bot. Will not take this down till u guys fix the issue.
Im a legit music artist and Spotify has reported me to tunecore for streaming fraud i did not do or authorise to be done, on a handful of my published monetised works! im furious!!! because they are deliberately sabotaging my lifelong work and credibility these accusations withheld & chewed up my royalties basically they stole them from me in the… Read more
form of streaming fraud fines which is outrageous considering i did not do it! A third party acting for them did it! And now I'm being blackballed by tunecore! Anyone can sabotage an artist works by submitting their links to be botted and fake streamed even a fan could do it unwittingly thinking they were doing me a favour the current system is outrageous and illegal and im writing this review to give a heads up and to make a record of what has happened the tracks are submitted by tunecore to spotify i dont have any control over it! Tumecore have taken down my songs from spotify and stolen what little royalties i get. Since being with tunecore and spotify ive amased over 1.5 million listens why would i jeopardise everything ive worked so hard for most of my life? By committing fraud? Are they serious? Well yes it appears they are! Simce being informed of this tunecore is now facing a 500 million dollar lawsuit by universal music group for copyright infringement secretly Universal loves me and they've seen what has been done and realise its being done to their own label artists too! Spotify is also in their scopes! Obviously i requested tunecore never submit my music to spotify forthwith and that i be given the benefit of the doubt in regards to the accusations spotify has levelled at myself and tunecore. I rhink its important everybody sees whats happening and that you all can keep an eye on it as it develops, thank you. I DID NOT AUTHORISE OR COMMIT THESE ACTS OF FRAUD AND I VEHEMENTLY DENY ANY INVOLVEMENT IN ILLEGAL STREAMING ACTIVITY especially not on those songs!!!
Spotify are thieves I should of suspected as much with the 4 months "Free" trial period 1st- charged $2.50 automatically on my credit card details when I signed up for this without any notification I was aware of ! 2nd-when the trial period ended- They attempted to charge my credit card $17 which fortunately for me I had activated a new card… Read more

3rdly- it makes cancelling so difficult that it's virtually impossible.. Ive put this information online with screenshots as evidence warning others of the theft as its a virtual company that doesn't exist materially and doesn't pay tax's yet makes trillions of dollars annually worldwide with theft and deception.
Its "FREE VERSION" is so bombarded with adds EVERY 8 MINITES FOR 30 - 60 + SECONDS it will drive you Insane.. Avoid these online "Virtual thieves"
If I could give 0 stars – Thank you, Julius B., for attempting to sort out my issue. Spotify has an excellent management team, but I must say I’m shocked by how they let their customers down in this instance. Julius purposely ended the chat without providing me with a resolution. Unethical or incompetent – I subscribed to Spotify over 4 years ago. I locked in the premium package. I decided to cancel after a short period of time because it didn't seem financially viable. So I thought I cancelled that subscription. After some time I decided to renew my… Read more · 1
subscription with a different email account. Again, I signed on to the premium plan. I have been happily accumulating different genre of music for the past 4 years. After doing a spot check on Mastercard account I was horrified to notice TWO separate payments per month had been deducted!! Spotify notified me of the price rise some time last month. This was either unethical or incompetent taking two lots of money from the same account. They have done well out of me. However, one disgruntled customer can echo to thousands.
Follow-up · After using this service for over twenty four months I have continued to enjoy the wide spectrum of music and podcasts provided by Spotify. From my initial review to my current subscription there have been substantial changes which has transformed my opinion of this service. I will be continuing my subscription providing the costs remain economically viable.
Parents beware. Spotify allows explicit sexual ASMR and pornographic-style audio that is easily accessible to minors. I had no idea this content existed on the platform until I discovered my underage child listening to it. Spotify is marketed as a… Read more
music and podcast app, not an adult content platform, yet there are inadequate warnings, weak parental controls, and no meaningful age gating for explicit sexual material.
This is a serious safeguarding issue. Parents should be clearly informed, and children should not be exposed to sexual content through an app that presents itself as mainstream and family-friendly.
Completely unacceptable.
Follow-up · Since my original review, I’ve looked more closely at Spotify’s settings and policies. The content was explicit sexual ASMR-style audio with graphic adult themes. It was clearly not appropriate for minors. The “explicit content” filter was turned on, but it did not block this material. There is no strong age verification for this type of spoken… Read more

Awful customer service. I've been eligible for a student plan and never knew I was as they don't show or advertise these plans. Reached out to customer service and they are so unhelpful. Clearly trained just to make sure they get $ in over customer care and satisfaction
I have loved my Spotify premium account for many years. However with the recent price increase, taking it up $15.99 a month, it’s not worth it. Such a shame but I refuse to spend that much.

Double Check your Cancellations! They hide this deep in the options to try and stop you. Dark Patterns. Then it will fail, disappear and they'll keep charging you. If you advise them of their mistake they'll say, "tough luck, read our refund policy". Terrible service. And this all after taking my money happily for years.... Show details
Just atrocious. I deleted my account a couple of years ago due to pathetic customer service and the inability to contact a human to sort a problem. I thought I'd give it another try today. don't qualify, but that is the ONLY link to sign up. SO I tried. Nope. I was met with a message saying I'm not eligible. I know that. There is a link saying I am eligible for a normal premium account. So I click it and end up back on the original sign up page that tells me I'm not eligible. I tried to find help online. They demean you by having you 'chat' to a bot. I eventually got only live chat, only to speak to some peanut who didn't understand the problem. Off to Amazon Music for me.
I'm a customer for ages and I was always happy, but now the monthly price is too much related to the service that they provide. I tried to chat with them (no other way to contact them), but instead of having a conversation with me regarding why the monthly subscription is always increasing without all songs and albums being available on the platform, they closed the chat. No good unfortunately
This is a message to all students or people who u would to use Spotify. I do not recommend as when I click the song i want to play it won’t play. And they will expect users to pay Spotify premium this is a horrible music player. I wish I can give 0 stars, just how mad I am at them, please just stop being greedy like a pig and actually do something that will make people happy.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT THAT I HAVE EVER HAD TO ENDURE IN MY LIFE!!!!!! issue remained unresolved.
Throughout the interaction:
- I was repeatedly asked the same questions, despite having already provided the answers. - I referred the agents to specific timestamps (e.g., 9:04 AM – 9:08 AM) where my responses were clearly documented. - The final representative became visibly irritated and abruptly ended the chat without resolution. - This experience was not only frustrating but also completely unacceptable, especially from a brand that positions itself as premium. The lack of continuity, accountability, and professionalism in handling my case was shocking.
Relentless gambling ads. Virtually one song, followed by a gambling ad or multiple gambling ads. I did not sign up to be inundated with gambling ads. You Tube music is a much better alternative.
Why won't the podcasts play in order, it keeps jumping backwards to one already listened to. If I wasn't sharing the account with my son I would cancel it. Extremely poor and very frustrating. Would not recommend.
Spotify continued to bill me even after I deleted my account,so I warn any potential customers to be aware of their very dodgy behaviour..after they give you the runaround I suggest you simply stop paying them is the easiest way to avoid their unprofessional behaviour.
Spotify free is absolute rot! It says listen to ads then for 30mins of free listening but you get 1 song then 5 ads. Then it plays songs from a completely different playlist! home. I used to love this app but discriminates the users that are in the free mode even tho they will buy premium later. Treats those users like garbage.
I like classical music and prefer to listen to a whole concerto or other work. Spotify can't tell the difference between a composer and an artist and mixes and changes my play lists. I've uninstalled it and will be looking for something else. Lots of content but the app wanted to choose what I listened to, wouldn't even let me select from my own play list. I used the free version, glad I didn't sign up for a fee! Show details

User be wary. Spotify acknowledged an error with their system where previously you could accidentally set up 2 subscriptions with the same user details. visibility that I had two subscriptions nor the ability to cancel the second one via their app/website. Spotify then only refunded me for 24 months if 2nd subscription even though I provided them with evidence of the previous payments too. Still owed $227.88 cust service escalation team was not helpful & frankly kinda rude. Gave inconsistent excuses for not refunding me further due to 1. No visibility in their system of payments prior to 2yrs via their system 2. Privacy reasons. When I inquired what privacy policies prevented-did not answer question. When I advised them they would have evidence of my payment records in their archives to reconcile against my evidence of payments as required by Tax laws they told me that they're a "Swedish entity and operate via Swedish legislation." Which is incorrect and deliberately misleading as Swedish tax laws requires they retain record of Financial transactions for 7 years. They didn't even reply to my last email and I got a survey request instead of a resolution. Super disappointed in this interaction and will be pursuing my refund via my governments fair trading department. Do better Spotify customer service escalation team.
Does the basics but when it comes to search, ignoring genres in playlists, support. They are totally useless. Basically it’s like putting in a tape in a machine and you just get all the crap on the tape. Just like a tape you need to fast forward. In this day of AI we should have moved technology on from the basic tape or CD format. Clearly have zero concept on how to use new technology, just give you the same ideas and crap from the 1970s. What a bunch of idiots customer service is so poor they treat u like a dog i paid my Spotify for the last 5 years and then they reckon I havent paid it even show them screen shots of everything still they carnt work it out i highly recommend using another provider
App and music very good , but when you cancel and move to another provider they keep bombarding you with scam emails which you cant block. They always use a different email to send the spam so it cant be blocked. I have been harassed for over 15 years and this might continue till i die.
