Still Spirits Turbo Air Still

Makes base Alcohol ok – As a beginner to Distilling when I first bought it, I was disappointed at the quality of the finished product. There wasn't as much information on it as there is today. After adding various flavour sachets and even after a month or more after bottling, the Spirits still tasted imitation. The only thing I ended up using it for was using the Neutral… Read more
Spirit to make home made Kalhua. We made a dozen or more bottles even using the "Dark Rum" flavoured base or the Whisky flavoured base. The Kalhua turned out delicious, by itself as a Liqueur or on Ice cream. The still sat in the cupboard for a couple of years until I decided the cost of Spirits was getting ridiculous. Now I have bought the Still Spirit Pro head and after the first batch through the distilling, already it smells cleaner . The Pro head fits on the original base so you don't have to purchase the whole thing again.
Veery good – I read quite a few reviews before buying - wide range of opinions but as I was only starting out on a distilling journey (been a long term home beer brewer) - decided to go ahead with the Air Still. Only used it a few times so far but ... easy and convenient to use and produces a good quality product (IMO of course). Show details
Good for small runs – This was my first introduction to distilling, ok it was ok but very slow to warm up and start extracting. I cheated and heated my wash to about 70 C and that sped it up. However the best output was about 60 ABV and not much for my needs. Also the filtering kit supplied is woeful. I switched to a home made filter. I have since upgraded to a… Read more
reflux still. However for a beginner to grasp the basics its not bad. I now only use it to make distilled water.
doesn't make much – After making a wine ready to distill to a spirit it does produce a solid result so long as the wine preparation is done well. My gripe is it doesn't make very much spirit in comparison to what i drink x time preparation results, also the resulting alcohol having a % that's a little low. Sold the unit and progressed to a t500.good resell price… Read more
for the airs still. Now the t500 that's a spectacular unit !. for those who might buy the air don't forget you can distill twice so long as you dilute correctly before the second restill. Solid quality, good resell price, does what it should do.,not made in china but please give me a bigger beer o'clock volume.
Good Equipment - throw away the instructions – The equipment is good quality. However the instructions are stingy and designed to keep customers buying their other products. The botanical basket is an excellent addition and can also be used to hold a copper disc. The instruction to single distil will always produce low results and turbo yeast and liquid carbon are not the way to make fine… Read more
spirits.
Need to throw away the instructions and learn how to make cuts (heads and tails) and always double distil and how to make good vodka, gin, rum and whiskey without added chemicals and fake flavour.
Alternatives include: invert the sugar (boil with lemon juice) tomato paste molasses malt extract wheat germ Vegemite Epsom salts suggested yeasts to try include M1 or GR2 and EC1118 and Oak (toasted, French or American)
Excellent product. Kiwis making us look lame again – Bought this unit out of curiosity to see if $7 per litre vodka was any good. Amazing results. The distilling and filtering takes time but well worth it. Fantastic product that demonstrates just how backwards Australia is when it come to home distillation. Bought over 100 different vodkas from various bottle shops. Get varied outcomes with the… Read more
Air Still but it is all good and some of it (double distilled - 5 times filtered) is just outstanding, as good as anything i ever purchased. You wont see me in the bottle shop anymore. These things are excellent little units.
AirStill is easy to use – Bought 2nd hand the Kit complete with both small and large fermenter.$200 with spare essence etc. Good buy.Have been a beer brewer for many years ie 6/7000 bottles The Airstill just adds to the savings!!! fun etc Now used 3 times the small fermenter, have made enough for about 9 bottles. seems like cost is about $7 per bottle not counting… Read more
initial purchase. Each batch gets easier.More than happy with end product .
Not sure I want to use the larger fermenter as it takes 2 hours to distill each batch plus filtering This is the slow bit,may look into better bigger faster charcoal filters. Happy to use the small fermenter for now.
Have used/consumed 2 bottles of my scotch not bad and my wife likes her Gin. Need Beefeater bottles as she is related!!!
On the lookout for scotch rum gin bottles etc Everybody so far is impressed with end product.
the dugs baws – This is a fantastic piece of kit makes a true spirit with ease from there the world is you oyster for choice of product highly recommended I love it. My friends love it too. A step in the right direction for home brewers
Does exactly what it says – I was dubious about whether you can really make palatable distilled spirits at home but I was wrong. This still needs no water for cooling. With the gear from Still Spirits you really can make perfectly drinkable vodka, rum, gin etc. Can't comment on the reliability of the still but it's very easy to use.
Great way to start making your own Bourbon at home – After finally making decent beer at home, I found my local homebrew shop sold spirit essences, and the ability to make your own Bourbon, Rum, Whiskey, Gin, Irish Cream, and many more Liqueurs at home. Starter kit came with everything, except sugar/dextrose, water & electricity. It came with the basic essentials, plus essences, a hydrometer, and… Read more

There are some legalities involved in regards to distillation at home. Do not draw attention to yourself by selling alcohol.
I have found that because there are no preservatives involved, I don't suffer from a hangover (unless I drank way too much). Great way to start. No hangovers (no preservatives). I should have paid the extra for the deluxe kit (bigger fermenter, better filter). Unit is slow. Saving up for the T500.
