Suncamper's Customer Service is terrible. I hope that my new Saxby V2 motorhome is a lot better then their Customer Service. I recently (August 2025) took delivery of my new motorhome after an 18 month wait. We experienced Suncamper's lack of "Transparent Communication and genuine customer care." They tried to sell us a Feb, 2023 chassis and… Read more

lead us to believe we were getting a Nov 2024 chassis on delivery. (Our contract stated 2024 chassis.) We googled the VIN Number and found this out. Suncamper's COO is saying, " It was just a mistake and mistakes happen." And, the Sales Manager stated, "Suncamper have no say in the chassis that they receive and he didn't know that my expensive, $200,000 motorhome was being built on an older, cheaper chassis being the Feb 2023 model." My partner and I had to argued with them to reduced the sale price to reflect the price difference of the two chassis's and the loss of safety features etc. Issue resolved under Suncamper's duress. Still have 2 other smaller issues for them to rectify which they refuse to do so, now that they have our money. Need an accessible, inverter switch installed for safety and convenience and need the dinette table top to be modified with an extension bracket to Off Set the table by 200mm, so the extra 2 persons can sit at the dinette table, like advertised and seen on purchase. Table design was changed and down graded during manufacturing without informing us. We paid for a more expensive, better quality, telescopic table that seats 6 and now we have a smaller, weaker table with a poorly designed support leg that only seats 4 as the table is fixed to the rear seating and prevents those two seats from being used which is highly dissappointing and a waste of valuable seating in the club lounge/dinette. We want the use of all seating in the dinette. This table is not "Fit For Purpose." After reading the other poor reviews on here and now knowing that Suncamper have many unhappy customers, not only with their customer service but it would seem they also have problems with the quality of their motorhomes as well. So, I believe they will not step up and rectify my 2 outstanding smallish issues because they are greedy and unprofessional.

Another Unhappy Customer. Deb and Gail. Melbourne.

Poor workmanship at a premium price – We bought a second hand Sherwood Suncamper a few months back with 16000km on the speedometer. The Toyota Hi lux is in good condition unfortunately we have had quite a few problems with the build itself. The worst thing that has happened is the steps collapsed underneath my feet causing an ankle injury…the screws which were used to secure the steps… Read more

to the body were woefully inadequate for the job they were meant to do..My wife and I are only slightly built so it’s not as though that was the problem. We have also found a lot of the fittings are second rate. The shelving especially is poorly constructed and inadequate for the job.It collapses quite frequently. Some of the other fittings such as curtains and windows are below par for the price the are asking for the units.Check very thoroughly before you buy.Not really up to scratch I’m afraid. We have had to fork out quite a bit to get it useable.

Lots of good, some bad, and a wee bit ugly! 3.5 stars would be more accurate! – We have just bought a (very) 2nd hand Sherwood 2007 and our view concurs with Mike K's - good design marred by some piss-poor materials and fit-out skills deployed .... what a pity! We previously had a Sunliner Mirage 2001 on a Courier base... generally a much better build and material quality, with design is at least as good. AND ... it is as… Read more

pretty as a picture! We have moved to the Sherwood mostly because we wanted 4X4 diesel. Indeed, the Sherwood/Hilux 4X4 D combo works very well - will certainly meet our off-road needs. However, if we were to order from new, we would be a little pushed to decide between the two manufacturers .. they both seem to be copping a similar amount of criticism nowadays!

Don’t do it – Love the van but the workmanship is bad , warranty not worth the paper it’s wrote on . Once you have paid for the van they not interested and customer service is the worse . Show details

Excellent for my needs – Love it. It drives really well, like a car. Beautifully fitted interior. Good size 3way fridge. A little gutless and doesn’t like really windy days. I would highly recommend it, especially for singles as the beds aren’t huge. Show details

Fantastic unit love it – We shopped around and the Sherwood was perfect in every way. Size of unit, comfort, sturdy. It is extremely easy to drive, we tried larger units and from major makers but were not happy with the finish inside. They drove like a truck. We purchased the 2 wheel version but when we upgrade next we would maybe look at the 4 wheel type but really… Read more

that's a way off. The wife and I couldn't recommend them more highly. Customer service by the team is better than other company's we spoke to.

Good design. 80% Perfect. BUT workmanship inside looks like it was done by a unsupervised 1st year a – I thought I was buying a Premium built motorhome but the items I have had to fix myself is still growing. Not one hole that was drilled through the floor for pipes and wires to pass through was sealed. Water leaks from shower floor not being sealed that damaged wall panels. Water leaks from fuel filler pipe not being sealed where it passed through… Read more

floor. Gas bottle storage was not sealed from living area so gas entered cabin. Draws kept on coming open because the striker plates where set to high. Still sticking edge tapes back on. Fridge would not work on 12v wire not connected. Battery holding bracket came lose because screws that where to short pulled out of floor. water pump stoped working because of bad wire joints. Microwave came loose. Metal dust from cutting hole in roof through every thing in car cabin also in air vents below windscreen inside and out. Took unit back to Suncamper to have shower water leaks and panel damage fixed they covered up the damage by sticking a panel over the rotted panel and plastered silicon every where then on the way home a cupboard door that was removed to do work fell of. Lucky I am a Carpenter/ Cabinet Maker. Had no trouble with outside workmanship.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MOTORHOME ON CONSIGNMENT WITH SUNCAMPER – Do not leave your motorhome on consignment with Suncamper. We did, much to our regret. We had advertised our Suncamper Sherwood privately, and were contacted by Suncamper offering to sell it on consignment. Their fee was reasonable, they had a buyer interested, and the contract said that final payment would be made to us within two weeks of the… Read more

sale. So we signed up in early July 2015. The vehicle was sold mid July but when we hadn’t received any payment by mid August, we started making enquiries of Suncamper GM Cameron Harrison. Despite multiple phone calls and multiple emails, we were always put off, calls never returned, emails never replied to. I felt that we were being scammed.

Concerned about this, we contacted the Dept of Fair Trading, and found that the ATO had applied to wind up the company. Further investigation by our solicitor found out that the ATO debt was repaid prior to the relevant court date. We were able however to apply to become a substitute creditor in that action.

All of this was occurring while I was undergoing chemo treatment for cancer - quite a stressful time overall.

It was only when Suncamper received notification of our application that they eventually acted. Payment was finally received in mid November, four months after it was due.

So … be warned!

The Toyota is great; the expensive box on the back is fraught with problems – From day one this vehicle has been a headache. The concept is good, but the quality of workmanship atrocious. This vehicle has been back to the factory so many times it is beyond ridiculous. As well as the frequent build and equipment issues, every time it comes back there is some other damage done by careless workmen. As soon as the money is… Read more

taken, they don't give a damn. I have been asking for a refund from the start, and keep getting "give us another chance"

The best of its kind by far – Been over and around Australia twice in Suncamper's 4x4 Toyota Hilux Sherwood. Rough tracks, gravel roads, motorways, it handles all perfectly. Cleverly designed, practical and comfortable for two, I wouldn't buy anything else. Product backup by Suncamper is excellent. The best advice: buy the smallest motorhome you're comfortable living in, not… Read more

the biggest you can afford - this motorhome fits the bill. Just placed an order for Sherwood number three.

November 6th 2016 Update: A Year Down the Track

Had my third Suncamper Sherwood, Toyota 4x4 for just over a year now. Added solar panels, a Webasto heater in the back and air bag control in the cab. Knocked over quite a few k's, the last one being around Tassie. Everything running perfectly. They get better all the time and are still the best design of its size. The new diesel Toyota is a more comfortable drive and quieter than earlier models. A minor problem with the fuel filler pipe breather was immediately fixed by the manufacturer. Best advice: buy the smallest motorhome you can be comfortable in, not the biggest you can afford. This one fits the bill for me.

Life wasn't meant to be this good! – It is always an exciting time planning a trip into the outback in our 4WD Suncamper Sherwood motorhome. This is now a regular ocurrence every 3 to 4 months, departing Victoria and heading north. The Suncamper is easy to drive and park and has all the possible creature comforts for the outback. Really neat little motorhome!! – Small and easy to drive but still spacious inside. Easy to use and practical layout. Well built. A joy to drive and stay in. Well insulated. Well built, spacious, huge windows. Gas box key was a little sticky.
