Steer Clear. No Longevity – I cannot recommend the Sureguard Protech 5 Solar Electric Fence Energiser. I have purchased 6 of these energisers over the last 2 years to stop bulls fighting through fences. The oldest 2 energisers I purchased are less than 2 years old and no longer work. The fault is not due to installation issues, voltage drop or environmental etc issues as other energisers work perfectly in the same place the 2 defective energisers were situated. Sureguard seems confident they know what the problem is which concerns me because if it is a common issue I have another 4 energisers in use that could fail. Sureguard are happy to repair the energiser if I pay to post it back to them and pay for repairs that they say could be $60 to $80 but could be more. Their warranty is for 12 months and is only extended to 3 years if you pay for the extended warranty. My view is the warranty should be 3 years without having to pay for the extended warranty. I recommend steering clear of Sureguard and their solar energiser. I have not had a good experience with Sureguard and I will not be buying solar electric fence energisers from them again. This is particularly disappointing as I bought the solar energisers from them after the Lismore floods in 2022 because they were a local Australian company from Lismore. If I’d known what I know now I would have bought the solar energisers from a well known energiser brand. If Sureguard stood by their product they would repair it free of charge or send a replacement energiser. I simply cannot recommend this product. It does not have the longevity I require and it certainly does not have the longevity claimed in the reviews on their product website. Steer clear of the Sureguard Electric Fence Energiser if you want something that lasts because my experience is they don't.

Fantastic product to keep your cat safe, and keep other cats out of your backyard – My cat has been attacked by other cats twice in the past a few months, she was bitten very badly and got infection, I had to take her to the vet each time, costs were well over $500, not to mention that we had to flush her wound for two weeks to help her to heal, on top of that she was at risk of getting FIV. I looked online for solutions to keep her safe and at the same time to keep other cats out. Plus, I wanted to give her as much as freedom possible hence she loves to have her freedom. So I ruled out the confined netting area because it's limiting her freedom to much, and the fence top netting because that doesn't guarantee to keep other cats out. So I went for Sureguard fence top ping wire system. We ended up installing it by ourselves to save on cost, our garden is about 65 metre of boundary fence, part colorbond, part timber, to simplify it, we used the bird netting to block top of the gate, bought the screws from hardware shop. Total cost was $490 Sureguard including the energizer, plus small cost of screws and drillbit. Which is many times cheaper than the cat nets option. Brad from Sureguard has been wonderful helping me along the way, answered my questions, which made the whole installation smooth. The only thing you need to pay attention to is if there are any gaps between the ping wire and top or edge of fence, no other gaps around fence, no overhanging branches. My cat did get out once and I have since blocked the gap with the plastic gutter guard roll, and she hasn't been able to get out since. And no other cats have been able to come in to bother her either. I am very happy with Sureguard and the help I received from Brad. Highly recommend this product.

Purchased in at Sureguard for $490.

It has a 4.9 out of 5 star rated review for good reason – A absolutely wonderful Australian made product that I’ve had running for months and months and with absolutely no problems, my neighbour put me on to them and he has his a lot longer, I’ve used mine for cows but he has horses on his. Completely portable it literally took me a half a hour to put up hundreds and hundreds of metres hook it all up and I loved the YouTube video where they use them to protect campers in America from bears encroaching camps, my calves where escaperists in the most extreme.. this product fixed everything overnight .. and the 126 positive reviews are because it’s such a damn good unit.. tiny packs a punch and the build quality is worth every dollar, I’ll be buying more..
