Getting ready to race..
Whilst this is a fantastic little bike which handles and jumps superbly and has good speed. my 7 year old has a lot of trouble changing gears and often resorts to stopping and doing it by hand.. he has ridden a friends ttr 90 and has no trouble with it so i am wondering if maybe its a design fault or just simply stiff,, he is becoming increasingly frustrated with it..
Love the look , handling ability and speed.
Gears are too stiff
I bought the bike for my 5 year old son after he outgrew the PW50. The main reason for buying the bike being that he can learn to change gear, and I shouldn't need to be with him every time he drops the bike. Unfortunately he cannot yet manage the gear change (neither can his 8 year old sister who rides a JR80) as it is just too stiff. As the bike has to be started in neutral I also have to help.
I know the starting in neutral is a safety feature, but the other day he had a monumental crash as someone else picked him up on a hill and restart...ed the engine for him thinking he knew to put in in gear. He then took off down the hill without the engine braking he has become acustomed to and subsequently had a big crash further down the long hill. I will be making changes to the wiring! Overall though is is a good step up. A lot of bike for the money. Good engine. Electric start. Stiff gear change. Will not start in gear.
