Moonswatch 1965, explaining the significance of the watch.

The Swatch Omega Moonwatch 1965 is a tribute to the Omega Speedmaster and the 60th anniversary of it receiving NASA’s flight qualification for all manned space missions. Having owned other Swatch Omega Moonwatch, the strap has a matching gray Velcro strap, a nice touch that makes the watch stand out when wearing it.

What’s special is that when the watch is placed under UV light, the 19, 65 and 60 on the dial lights up. The 1965 refers to NASA’s qualification of Omega in 1965 and 60 celebrating 60 years anniversary in 2025.

I purchased the watch for €275.

What I also discovered was that Longines and a company known as X were also competing to be the watch used for space missions. It is sad that Swatch elected to make the other watches for display purposes only. It would have made a wonderful collection.
