What an un-Godly & disgraceful bunch this organisation is. Our dear friends mum passed away less than 8 weeks ago whilst in this hospitals Palliative unit. This organisation was chasing her Estate for a desperate money grab of $400. Just vile, out of touch and full of disrespect. You have your pathetic $400 now as the poor family member you were… Read more

harassing for payment (who is a pensioner) has now cleared this account. Next time leave family to grieve and stop chasing dead patients for such small money recoveries. Just a hideous organisation with little respect or care for a deceased patient & their family.

My wife was admitted to SAH Emergency on 19 October 25 around 9 pm as she had severe palpitations and a high heart rate. After a preliminary check she was moved to a cubical and the monitor was attached to view the progress.  A male nurse attended to her. He was wearing earrings and chains and was not in a normal dress code for a nurse. That dress… Read more

may be considered acceptable in a public place but certainly not on a duty nurse in a hospital. After introducing himself and checking on my wife he had switched off the lights and gone away. Around 2am my wife had developed chest pain and wanted to call a nurse. To her horror she discovered that there was no buzzer. She cried out for help and was answered by a cleaner who called for a nurse. The male nurse came over and after my wife had said she was in pain he had told her that he will bring a pain killer. He had come over with two Panadol tablets and a glass of water. The place was dark as the light was not switched on. While taking the tablets the water spilled on to my wife's gown and she was wet. The nurse had given her a towel and gone away, the place was still in darkness.  The next morning my wife's condition had stabilised, and she was ready to be discharged. A doctor had arrived and inquired who her cardiologist was. Having consulted the cardiologist, he had given her a script. As she had not taken this medication before, she had asked how she was to take the medication, whether it was before or after meals or in the morning or the night. The Doctor had abruptly told her "Check with the pharmacist". My wife was horrified to hear such a statement from a doctor. Soon thereafter a male nurse had come over to remove the cords to the monitor. Having removed the cords from the machine, he left the ones attached to my wife's body and said "you can do it". Virtually asking her to do it herself. This has been a traumatic experience and something my wife never expected from a private hospital.  We have both been to SAH Emergency before and been inpatients. We have never experienced such callous and substandard treatment before.

6 hour waiting for emergency services. No money no treatment. Not enough specialist doctors but open for 24/7. You will have more sickness and stressful when you arrive and waiting there. Not good service at all

Our daughter Melina was born at San Hospital in July 2025. While there were some positives—our obstetrician [Name Removed] was absolutely extraordinary and some staff (like midwife [Name Removed] and the lactation team) went above and beyond—the overall experience was marred by serious issues that the hospital has failed to take responsibility… Read more

for. During the cesarean, my wife experienced significant pain that should not have occurred under spinal anaesthesia. Despite me directly hearing conversations between the doctors acknowledging she should not feel those actions, nothing was documented in her file. When I raised this, the hospital’s response relied only on staff memory and paperwork, dismissing her lived experience. We were discharged without essential pain medication after major surgery. I was told directly by the discharge nurse that she had “forgotten” to send the script to pharmacy. On top of this, we were later billed (and threatened with debt collection!) for medication that was never even delivered to us. This was insulting and extremely unprofessional, especially after spending thousands of dollars at the hospital. We were also referred to the wrong Child and Family Health Centre, which meant we missed out on a crucial early home visit for our newborn. Only after multiple frustrating follow-ups did I discover the referral was never sent correctly. The hospital blamed “outdated systems,” but the fact is, they sent us to the wrong centre in the first place. Finally, the paediatrician’s failure to document our request for G6PD testing led to our newborn undergoing an unnecessary second heel prick test. The second “consult” was under two minutes yet billed as a full visit. The hospital’s response was that this was “standard practice” and then redirected responsibility to independent doctors. When I raised all of these issues formally, the hospital’s written response was deeply disappointing. Instead of addressing my questions, they deflected responsibility to individual practitioners, outdated systems, or vague miscommunications. At no point did they acknowledge accountability for the harm and stress caused to our family. It’s upsetting that such a well-known private hospital can deliver such a mixed standard of care and then dismiss serious concerns with no real resolution. Parents should not have to fight for accountability at a time when they are most vulnerable.

THE worst hospital I have ever been in..public or private. They employ the most arrogant and bullying surgeons who make mistakes and are way more interested in you as a cash-cow than your health needs.

I had a recent CT coronary angiogram done at the San. The process of booking the test was smooth, and I received clear instructions on how to prepare—including fasting and avoiding caffeine. On the day of the scan, I was a bit anxious, but the radiographer who looked after me, Dennis Wu, was incredibly kind and reassuring and made me feel at ease.… Read more

His explanation of what the procedure involved and what to expect put me completely at ease. The IV contrast dye caused a brief warm sensation, but it wasn’t painful. The scan itself was quick and involved a few breath-holding instructions, which were easy to follow, especially after being told by Dennis Wu what to expect.

The nursing staff, physios and doctors are all wonderful. I'm thankful that they looked after me so well post surgery. Nothing was too much trouble. I was disappointed that my bathroom had no hand drying facilities. The bathroom was cleaned only once in the 4 days I was there and room vacuumed only once despite obvious stuff on the floor. In my… Read more

pre admission and admission paperwork I specified that I could not eat nuts, grains or seeds. My first meal, ordered for me not by me by staff, were sandwiches: soy and linseed. Couldn't eat them. I ordered a cheese and fruit bowl one evening. As I made my way through it I found nuts in the bottom of the bowl!. They weren't specified in the menu description. Overall the food was ordinary. I was most disappointed at the cleaning of the room.

ARE THE DEAD DEAD? – When my sister died at this so called Christian hospital the Chaplin told my nice that on the death of my sister my dead father, mother and other sister who were all dead for as number of years were in fact alive and greeting my dead sister up in heaven. Condescending and hateful staff! – I can't believe how handsomely I paid for the worst care and attitude ever! I think the nurses and admin staff need to get off their high horse! We're the ones paying you, patronising gronks! Shame there's no zero star option. But gave it 2 only because my specialist and anaesthetist were brilliant! Show details

SAN Hospital stay was great – From check in to surgery the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Whilst in post operation care the nurses were professional and supportive. The best of all was the food. Amazing meals. I can’t believe the range and quality. The hot food was hot and frozen food was frozen. I’d be happy to come back if I ever need more surgery. Thanks to all the SAN staff.

Painful experience you can get for free at public hospital – My wife attended 15 Feb 2024 with a non-life threatening but painful condition. Arrived 6.15pm. Did not see a doctor until 12.45am! Hopeless management, despite being busy only had one doctor on duty. Repeated promises that a doctor was coming were not met. Only people we saw in 4 hours were accounts person wanting to make sure hospital was paid… Read more

and rarely a nurse. Nurse ordered series of tests which were completely unnecessary as time fillers and revenue raisers for hospital. Suggest people to seriously consider whether they should go to this hospital in future. We will never again go.

The SAN is a Business out of Control – I had hoped not to write this review, and had requested a discussion with the CEO or COO of the business, however they have been unresponsive, leaving me with little choice other than becoming another negative reviewer. My opinion is based on several occasions where my elderly mother has been admitted to the SAN. While the medical care from her… Read more

specialist has been fine, and the care from the nursing staff has been genuine, there are systemic problems with this hospital as a business which are, in my opinion dangerous.

Communication between staff members, nursing, administration and specialists is the key issue. On several occasions there have been miscommunications that have lead to issues, including Mum being accidentally discharged still connected to a $10,000 monitoring device. There appears to be no plan on admission, which has left Mum lingering in hospital with no idea when she is likely to go home from a routine procedure. This also has a domino effect on her family, who do not live locally and are forced to take time off work on an open ended basis. It is obvious that the nursing staff are under resourced as there are hardly any about, and equally obvious that profit is driving this business, not care. There is a saying that "A fish rots from the head", and I think the executive management team of this business need to take a good hard look at themselves and the job they are doing.

We have been returning to the SAN as it is the hospital of choice for our Mum's specialist, but will now be looking for a different specialist who practices elsewhere. My advice? Look for a different hospital, and if forced to use this one because of a specialist, seek a different specialist.

A VERY GOOD HOSPITAL – So many services, generally short waiting times, albeit Emergency has slowed down recently in my personal family experience. The adjacent Fox Valley Medical Centre is really nice. Some great specialists locally and great heart and cancer treatment facilities. Sadly from knowing some staff, it seems like a hierarchy of poor communication and… Read more

finances focussed on hospital debt means that there are overworked and underpaid elements of staff, shortages are not effectively addressed and ratios are poor at times - it seems like it will struggle to progress from 'very good' to 'great' and unlikely 'excellent' because that requires collaborative up-down communication and efforts to increase quality, but the staff indicate that the senior staff don't seem to want to motivate staff other than a few scraps of pats on the back here and there which are a bit vapid.

Terrible Nursing services and very poor nursing care standard to patients – My husband (his surname is different from mine) had an overnight surgical procedure. As he chose one of an excellent surgeon who works in this hospital. And we are pleased with the outcome of his surgery and the medical care received. I am very disappointed and shocked with the standard of nursing care that my husband received by the nursing… Read more

staff. - The evening nurse on duty of 19/5/23 was abrupt and slow in attending to his basic needs eg after he came from the recovery she said that she will come back to change , rearrange the tangled sheets that were used at the theatre and freshen him up . That was never happened till I voiced my concern 3 hours later as I didn’t even see her sight since my husband was back from the recovery . She came back only to bring two moist face washers in a bowel and told him to use it himself. then left. - She didn’t even assist or tried to help me to assist to put him in comfortable position in bed . - I noticed blood was oozing from the site of the operation and only then she changed the soiled intact cover dressing and applied new one. My husband is very quiet and didn’t want to complain or raise any of the above issues . I felt bad and unsure , if he will get the proper care, when I left the hospital at night knowing that he is in such uncomfortable position and not looked after with proper nursing care. - The following morning when I called was answered by the team leader who advised that they (nurses ) can discharge my husband and he doesn’t have to wait for his doctor. I Was surprised that nursing staff can make such decisions. But when I went to pick him up I discussed it further with the nurse and found out that the doctor made the decision not the team leader herself as she claimed earlier . - such poor quality care received . We would have to pay over $7000 for this admission if we have not private insurance to pay most of this bill .- I used the puzzer to call the nurse and waited for more than half an hour in 2 occasions but no nurses would attend .

charged medicare for no service – Rang before I went there and explained my situation and they said come in. Came in at six, waited two hours to be seen, only to be told they cant help me. an initial account for $39,the other virtually a letter of demand for the $39 I hadn't paid!, and that they reserve the right to give my details to a debt collector! So both were sent the same day lol obviously trying to cover the accounts departments incompetence. That was bad enough but these money hungry people still charged medicare $360 for a service they didnt give me. When I emailed to complain about the two accounts for payment that were printed and posted on the same day they of course didnt have the courtesy to reply. I wonder what medicare will say about a mob that charges them for a service that don't give?

Charge like wounded bulls – The hospital was paid by Medicare and private health insurance and still billed me $979 for x rays on top. They have their own pathology so bill on top of rebates for that as well. A charge of $335 and $172 for emergency care. I am a pensioner and have been in just about every private hospital in Sydney and only been charged Medicare and private health insurance. This hospital is a big rip off.

The worst private hospital I've ever had the misfortune of being a patient – If my chosen surgeon didn't operate there, I would never have agreed to attend the rehabilitation unit of that hospital following a week or so in surgical unit. I was aggressively verbally treated by one female physio who criticised me in front of other staff and made me feel terrible. Wouldn't even allow me to take high walker into my room. Dr… Read more

had to help me "sneak it in" and it was needed as NO nurse in rehab would shower me but offered other more physically capable patients if they wanted one. When I emailed a query to reception/ clerical they came out to my room when surgeon had finished consulting showing no tact nor diplomacy about the matter! Only was treated decently and with respect in the surgical unit! If that was the last hospital on earth, I wouldn't go back. The fact it's in a "wealthier suburb" or apparently a "Christian" based hospital beggars belief! Glad I wasn't born a Christian nor baptised and became a Christian much later. Would have been better of remaining Jewish and poor from the Inner West! Disgraceful, this was back in November 2020.
