Taav quick failure despite compliance with instructions/useage – Had this unit perhaps 2-3 years; it replaced one that lasted 10-20 yrs but was hard to not spill (as the mixture bowl floated). This Taav one has now (for the second time) given up. Wont reset (instructions followed) and wont work/light up/do what its supposed to do. The idea behind mixing the raw inhallation with the water storage, IMO was flawed from the start. Dont bother yourself looking at these...no wonder they have been discontinued. Show details

Blew a power fuse – Left it on overnight and woke up to a tripped safety switch and no power in half my house. Device no longer works and part of the blue lid snapped off overnight. Seems very unsafe - glad my safety switch kicked into gear before a fire started.

nevertheless I've used the item constantly, leaving on all night. It is only now, 2 ½ years later that I noticed a leak. I’ve never used additives. Even while going all night, if filled to capacity level, it never boiled dry. Having detected a leak, I contacted the company and was promptly issued a replacement unit which I’ve used the last couple of nights (with same good steam result). So I cannot complain about the big TAAV because of the amount of weekly use I gave it and of course that’s with ordinary tap water, and we all know what that does to steam irons and electric kettles, over time. So I am a satisfied customer and will continue to use this make.

Tavv T2008 vs Crane (Oscar the owl) ultrasonic humidifier (refunded after 5 days) – I have been running the Taav Vaporaire T2008 humidifier for 48 hrs now. I ran the Crane for 5 days. humidifier only vapourised 1L of water on maximum setting. The bottom line is that there will be about 4 times more water vapour in the air than the Crane.

Warm, quiet and comforting humidity.

2. As the Taav humidifies the room it also warms the air from the steam - great for winter. As the Crane "humidifies" the air it cools it (think evaporative cooler) - not so great for winter.

The Taav is overall quieter than the "whisper quiet" Crane. The crane creates a fountain of water that splashes back into the basin with an annoying constant dripping noise; fan is also quite noisy. The Taav generates a very quiet boiling noise. Can be muffles with a rag over the water inlet hole.

Simple no frills operation.

3. No vapour output setting on Taav. Not necessarily a bad thing, I had it running for 12 hrs with the door about 10cm ajar. No condensation on the windows or walls (room size 3.5 x 3.5m). Crane humidifier with the door closed running for 18hrs seemed to have no effect on humidity.

Hot steam could be dangerous if children unsupervised.

4. Hot steam from Taav which is dangerous for kids. Cool vapour from Crane which is ideal with small children. The exterior of the Taav is cool to the touch. The steam outlet is obviously very hot.

So in conclusion I really wished the Crane worked, but it didn't do anything to improve humidity. The Taav is oh so very ugly, but it works. An on/off switch and that's it. Turn it on, the air becomes humidifed, simple. It's also quiet (I am an exceptionally light sleeper - I can sleep with the Taav running). Humidifies the air, provides some relief to stuffy noses So very, very ugly.

Ok but no way to clean – This is an ok T2008 product considering it is the cheapest vaporizer on the market. quietest or not however I still can hear the boiling and bubbling sound. It gives a good long running night as it stated it can hold a capacity of 4 litre (14 hours) which is good for my baby. I don't have to go inside the room and refill the water in the middle of the night and disturb my baby.

The downside I have with this product is there's no way you can clean the inside of the product. I just rinse it off with water a few times, twice a day. Each time, I always found some tiny pieces of leave-looking particles in the water (don't know where that came from or how they are form) but I have to shake it upside down hard and rinse it with water a number of times to get rid of those tiny particles. It would be good if TAAV can design the product for us to dissemble the product so that we can thorough clean and wipe the product dry. Good steam and that it fills 4 litres which can be used for 14 hours night especially good for babies and toddlers in a long night sleep Not possible to clean as there's no way you can open the unit to clean inside

Great little unit – I have bought 2 of these for my kids to help them get over stuffy noses and colds. It cuts down the severity of the cold and lessens the recovery time (mostly due to a good night's sleep when one can breathe properly). It can only be reset by re-filling in the water and leaving it in an off position for 5 minutes. After that, it will turn on without issues.

Having owned it for a few years, I have not had any electrical issues with it. Highly recommended for reliability and being made in Australia.

Only one who loves it? – I have had a euky bear and a vicks vaporizer ( same products just different name) and after finding out that there is a taav and it turns itself off and times out and cleaning is much easier than the others I had to purchase. switch. I thought the unit needed cleaning, so I bought the Taav cleaning tablets, only to find that I couldn't fit the tablets in the grill. I looked up the Taav Pro website...and found that others have had the same experience with the bubbling over and the tablets. Can't remember what I paid for it, but that's bubbled away, for sure! I will not be buying this product again.

It's my go-to vaporiser – I have tried a few different vaporizers over the years and find this one the best. Purchased from The Chemist Warehouse at Nerang QLD it is the least expensive and simply works. The plug sometimes needs a bit of a push but when it's on it provides a steady stream of mist all night helping me sleep. I think it has a 5 year warranty as well.

Unable to clean – I don't like this product. I crushed the cleaning tablets because they don't fit through the grill. I noticed mould on the base but because it's a sealed unit I can't get to the mould to clean it. I soaked in Hydrogen Peroxide and water but the mould is still there. Useless product!! I will throw it in the bin, not paying to send it back, especially after reading the other reviews.....fire!! Show details

Dangerous, do not buy – The safety switch stopped working so the unit ran dry and there is a terrible electrical burning smell. I'm so relieved it didn't catch on fire in my baby's room. Do not buy this product.

Helped my newborn – We purchased this product when our 2 week old baby got a cold and had nasal congestion impacting on his ability to sleep and feed. Given he was too young to use any medications or anything else this was very helpful and has been since when he got another cold at 5-6 weeks old. It’s also helped my husband with his congestion and helped ease his snoring. A great product.

Wouldn’t recommend – Purchased this after my well used Euky Bear stopped working after many years. I liked that it was more compact & has an on/off switch on the unit. come on when there is still around a quarter tank of water left. You have to cut up the cleaning tablets to get them in & there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove the lid for a proper clean. It is reasonably quiet when it operates & seems to distribute the oil smell for a while when first switched on. I’m quite disappointed & will be purchasing another brand to replace.

Don’t buy – It gets way too hot burnt my son hand bad, he might need skin graph. Do not buy for any use specially for children just giving everyone some advice thanks.

Appalling – The first one lasted 6 months. Firstly the switch light failed after 1 month, then it began leaking, eventually sitting in a pool of water. A great resource for colds & congestion – We plugged in and had a great nights sleep. Easy to clean. Used with vap. fluid, such a relief. The unit did have problems however. It was the plug in lead only. This needs to be pushed in properly. I wouldn't be without this machine now- it's stable, easy to fill & clean.

Fantastic! – After 2 weeks of lung congestion and asthma, medical treatments and not able to sleep lying down I bought the Vaporiser. Had it going all day, and then all night. Totally cleared the chest constriction by second night. Had sleep of 7 hours which was a godsend. Thankyou, I feel human again. I did find the reset switch and instructions not user friendly, but kept trying until it worked.

grateful for information on the reviews – just purchased was a bit of a struggle to get the cord in so thought to leave the plug in. Worked well day 1. Today it was a bit confusing when the signal didn't light up. Reading these reviews here has helped; I have now unplugged and switched off for a bit. Struggled again with the plug into the vaporiser but the light is working.
