Overall sentiment toward The Messaging Company is overwhelmingly negative, driven primarily by users who were involuntarily migrated from major Australian internet service providers. Common pain points include unreliable email delivery, difficulties communicating with support, and rising annual subscription fees for a service that was previously included with internet packages. While a few customers report successful issue resolution, the vast majority express frustration and are actively seeking alternative email providers.
I'd give zero stars if I could. Forced to move to the Messaging Company when iiNet sold their emails. Do NOT recommend. They do NOT answer their phones, do NOT reply to emails and I have doubts there are humans even working there. Price went up PER EMAIL from $30 to $69.99. Fortunately I have transitioned to another more reliable service and am now trying to cancel my subscription with them. Wish me luck.
A minus rating would be more appropriate! Absolute sham of a company with nothing but greed in mind. Increasing prices at every chance but enough was enough for us. Have just closed 4 accounts down with them after importing all our emails over to Gmail. We encourage everyone to do the same and not give in their sheer greed.
Imagine spending $70 per year to keep an email address only to be treated like this. The actual payment settings require a scavenger hunt to find, then show a cryptic errors when you try to update them. I managed to renew eventually. Bad luck if you're on holiday that week!

This is the most annoying email forwarding possible ,at the moment I am ringing them twice a week just to send emails ....hopeless... get your act together ... This is holding up my business transactions grrrrrrrr
50% increase in email subscriptions Off-shore support but they cant help with anything, especially complaints No spam filtering Crazy prices after being forced to transition via iinet
I would even give a negative number of rating stars, because they don't deserve any. I had to use my Google account to sign in, because I cannot receive any emails via The Messaging Company. This is not my usual Login to the Product Review. This company charges me $55.00 per annum for hosting my email address which I have had for 26 years. Their… Read more
mail client is crushing, emails disappearing (actually the most important ones), it is constantly freezing my computer and if you spend an hour to tick all the spam mail and press delete button, you would be wasting your time, because it deletes only one from the top. Your entire 60 minutes for nothing. It also seems that there are all spams and scams allowed and it sometimes takes days to remove it. I keep submitting my complaints and expressing dissatisfaction of their service for past three years and it only seems getting worse. Why the Internet providing companies in Australia were allowed to stop hosting emails of their own domains and passed it to a Chinese companies charging solely for email address, three times as much as it is worth?????? There is no stupidity like that anywhere in the world. I recently experienced again recurring issue with sent folder, and my entire Inbox disappeared. No emails. No receiving new emails, nothing. I sent an important email which would certify a maintaining of correspondence and it apparently got sent, but sent folder doesn't register. Quality of service and applications of The Messaging Company isn't just the poorest, it is outrages. The complaints don't do anything they are meaningless. I have to cancel my subscription with them and go for something like a Gmail, Hotmail, or yahoo. Actually I have never had problem with yahoo mail, but constant meltdown about The Messaging Company. You guys are disgrace to the entire Internet. On photos below, it's shown all emails disapeared and the sent folder only registers some sent emails. It definitely doesn't file a Reply messages.
Full of scam emails, huge price increases, no support. I tried to look at the renewal notice and even that didn't work. A company that won't even let you renew must be in very bad shape.

I’d leave if I could but it’s not easy dumping a 20 year old email address. The spam is out of control and the price exorbitant. iiNet keep dropping features and increasing prices so I’ll leave them soon.
Follow-up · The year ending Sept 2026 cost $47.40, and the renewal is $69.99 for the next year! That's it for me and I'm transitioning away,l along with many others.
I get lots of spam. Even spam emails claiming to be from TMC, WTH! I complained and got a reply saying we are aware of this :>) My @tpg.com.au… Read more
account unfortunately goes back for over 20 years. I use gmail as much as I can these days, rarely any spam. I also use Proton Mail, it's free for one account, 5GB of storage and very secure. https://proton.me/mail
Follow-up · All is good now after giving TMC the [Content Removed] and taking the time to change everything to Gmail. The almost 99% negative reviews say sit all.
Follow-up · I gave TMC the Arse and use Gmail and Proton these days (Proton email gives you one free email address )
We can't all be wrong – There is not much to add, 25 + years as a customer because some [Content Removed] vodaphone executive decided email was an imposition, well now im not tied to an ISP and I've already gone through the painful part of setting up a couple of new email… Read more
addresses that actually work, so time to give TPG and TMC the middle finger. I suggest you try it and the relief at the end of the day knowing I won't have to deal with either of them was joyous, a weight of my shoulders. I apologize publicly to telstra, I thought you had [Content Removed] service but these guys have outdone you hands down.
Follow-up · Setting up a new email address after 25 years was not easy and I think suppliers recognise that and take advantage. The dumb Vodaphone exec that made the decision obviously missed that point though. Telstra still has crappy service, it's only the monopoly they have on the network that prevents me leaving them too.

Warning.... check your bank account long after you think you've left TMC....They were still taking out yearly subscription even though I never gave them permission to keep my bank details on record...Luckily The Commonwealth Bank were aware of their illegal practice and refunded my money immediately.
Hiru was great with assisting me with the issue I was experiencing. Thank you so much

Much Improved Customer Service – Initially very concerned about The Messaging Company because of the overwhelmingly bad reviews on here, I contacted them to ty to sort out a minor glitch with one of my four family accounts. I decided to use email for the contact as I wanted to attach screenshots and I was pleasantly surprised to get a response within 2 hours. After another… Read more
small clarification, I had my issue fully resolved in less than 5 hours. If they were as bad as previously stated, I think they might now be getting their act together and providing pretty good customer service. IINET on the other hand will never get any business from me again.

Forced onto this company after iinet gave up their email service (thanks iinet!). The name says they are a messaging company, but from my experience they don't do it very well. The cost has gone from just under $50 for 2GB, yes almost $50 to almost $90 if I'm not mistaken. Try to log in to your account to check/change things....constant error… Read more
messages and the interface is so slow. I would never recommend anyone use this service. There are much better free and cheaper paid for providers.
Not sure if there is anyone within this organisation to actually speak to. Have tried and tried to contact someone with regard to all the Spam sexual favours and dating sites that I receive daily and have done for at least two months now. It is obvious my details have been compromised but this company does nothing to help. Then they want to jack… Read more
the annual fee up so I have found another company who I hope will have some sort of customer service not just take your fee. Can see them going broke if there is no human to talk to. Steer clear.
Absolute worst company imaginable. What was once a complimentary service through iiNet is now expensive (a $20 per month price increase coming soon) so you’d think for that price you’d get a quality service that strips out spam and scams, but forget it. And don’t even bother contacting them for support - if you do actually manage to get a reply it’s from someone who has no idea and doesn’t give a damn.

Forced to move after iprimus ditched its emailing capabilities. Obviously I didn’t have much of a choice as my email address is 20 years old & linked to thousands of things. Webmail is glitchy. Struggle to login in every single day. Unable to send mail between any old iprimus addresses now. Tech support is slow, don’t listen & basically useless.… Read more
Honestly can’t believe I’m paying for this service, it’s appalling. Will spend the next 2-3 months trying to setup something else, it’s going to be a nightmare migrating all of the account linked to this address. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Woeful service. Unreliable delivery (both incoming and outgoing) of emails. I have had some emails days late. As email is still used as an account verification the arrival of a necessary code is frequently no longer valid. It is frustrating because I like many others I have used the email address for a very long time. Did I say woeful let's add atrocious; possibly a "breach of contract".
Like many others, I'm not happy having been offloaded to The Messaging Company by iinet. I wouldn't mind the extra cost so much, if I didn't have to regularly email TMC from my gmail account because my webmail isn't working. This is happening more and more often, and it's very frustrating. What's more, after I received a letter (yes, a letter)… Read more
from a friend in Germany telling me that her emails were blocked, I found out that TMC blocks many German email providers, because they are allegedly sending masses of spams. Maybe that's why I don't get a lot of spams, but instead I have to worry about not receiving emails nor being able to send them. I have moved my main contacts in Germany to gmail, but who knows what other emails might get lost in cyber space. I cannot complain about the company's service, as they always respond to my complaints and usually fix most issues. At the moment, the thought of moving 25 years of correspondence elsewhere is still stopping me from closing my account, but I'm bound to do it one day.
Have now officially cancelled both our email addresses which we had with IInet for over 20 years!!!! The Messaging Company has the nerve to increase their cost by some 15% or so, to $90/year for me and still provide the same dreadful service. Goodbye and Good Riddance :(
Unbelievable - this should be illegal in a modern country. I had my @Internode email account "sold" (I presume) by internode (IInet) to "The messaging company" and what started out at $30 per year, 2 years ago, has risen to $47 last year and this years renewal is just shy of $70. This is over 130% increase in two years. Something is wrong here -… Read more
this company is holding the domain hostage and charging ever increasing ransom each year.
I will have to try and get out. Please avoid this company if you can. I am not sure what the ACCC is for

i just got a renewal from these people for their crappy email service. i have a long standing email address that is critical to keep because so many of my contacts have it, and TMC use this as leverage to charge whatever they want. they engage in extortion. their spam filter is rubbish as it blocks legitimate emails. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you can avoid it.
I haven’t used their service in awhile but tried to recover information from my old TPG email to recover my PS account and told that i no longer had an account due to non payment i wasn’t even notified by them. They deleted my account and was told it couldn’t be recovered
Already reviewed this rubbish company once, but feel compelled to revisit just to express my disgust at having to pay for such an abysmal service. I'm locked into TMC as I want to retain my longstanding personal email address of 30 years. The list of shortcomings of TMC are long and I don't need to spell them out. Just read the rest of the… Read more

But yet again this morning, after signing up for a new online account on a website, I sat waiting for 30 minutes for a registration verification email - which never comes because TMC only selectively deliver email, and it would seem by carrier pigeon. If it ever does arrive in my Inbox it will likely be tomorrow, only 24 hours after the 10 minutes allowed in the registration process. (And Yes, I did check my Spam folder, because that is generally where legitimate emails go, while the junk mail goes to the Inbox. They can't even get that right). Does anyone from this company monitor these reviews?
I'm off now to give a one star review to iinet/TPG for dropping us in this mess.
Worst service and support in the history of email companies. I would rather carve a note into a stone and have 2 pigeons deliver the stone than deal with customer support. If i had 3 hands I would give them 3 thumbs down. Don't use this company they are Useless with a capital U
Appears to be similar issue to everyone else, my Exemail service was taken up by TMC. Had nothing but issues since then, legit emails are spammed and obvious phishing emails sail straight thru. An email arrives from a legit source and 10mins later the same source is spammed. Can't use Outlook as I have to continually check the Spam folder on… Read more
line. Slowly been migrating everything to an Outlook account and will pay for a basic subscription, which is only $30 per year and gives you 100gig of storage.
Absolutely hopeless support, can not fix anything. Do not receive emails from many places.... Added addresses to allow list still do not get email. Currently have spent 3 days trying to move emails but because their system is so bad I am left with a few accounts stuck because of their system not working at all......
The one time code should be sent to a mobile number not email. It does not last long enough by email. It disappears. I have wasted days trying to set up. The deadline is tomorrow the 8th. Why can't anything be simple with one time codes?
I have had the same email address for the past 30 years and everything was fine until it was moved to the Messaging company, now its just slow, frustrating and rubbish.
