Not thrilled. Better off with a name brand that supports continued supply – Great tool, I need more blades and I've seen a Renovator shop in Perth but spent an hour looking on line to find the address to no avail. And now I see it's discontinued. Hopeless

The multitool is awesome – When used properly the uses for this tool are wide and varied. The projects I have used it for were made easier by the versatility of this tool which I have used for carpentry when I had to build a frame to screw Gyprock to on the walls of my house. It is also very handy for cutting aluminium sheet. Tony.  Show details

The Renovator – My husband is completely in love with this tool & also the circular saw :) he goes for these tools first before going to his 100s of other tools. I wish I knew about this tool earlier, maybe I would have a half empty garage ;) also female friendly....not heavy and bulky So easy to use. Not big & bulky

The renovator – This item was bought with the thought it may be ok, but I was unsure. So I bought an extra set of blades as I thought that would be its weakness. It was used for our bathroom renovations on all the many jobs. cutting tiles out, refixing power points. Was an amazing tool. Great for small areas and hard to get at places. Accidently thrown out with rubbish in trailer. Now trying to find another as we have all the spare parts. Show reply

Wish I'd never bought it – The vibration tool never worked properly. First a small spring washer fell off so got a new one & then a spring fell out. I do not know where it came from & cannot use it anymore. Was a complete waste of money especially for a Pensioner. It is now out of warranty.  Show details

Useless! Don’t waste your money – These spanners are made from cheap soft unhardened steel. They break easily. My first use was to try one on a tow ball nut (it was brand new towball and the nut wasn’t seized or overly tight). Anyway the spanner fell apart in my hands after only a quarter turn! Also don’t be fooled by the fake 5 star reviews from the TV marketing “review… Read more

sites”...they are stacked with ridiculously fake positive reviews. You’ll be very sorry if you purchase this spanner set. Totally useless!

Price of product is unexpectedly high – Cost of the "special offer" was $329.95 - very expensive. I rang after seeing "special offer" on TV. Postage and handling is $29.95 - so the tool cost is $300. This is the "normal" kit + the "special offer" of the second set of 4 spanners. Don't know if the quality is good or bad, but at $300 - I find that a bit pricey. If the kit was closer to $100, maybe, but not $300.  Show details

Better grip? Than what? – This tool is compared to shifter spanner in the tele ads, which is a butcher mechanic tool at best. You will never get it in a space where you need a socket or ring spanner. None of the examples would be seriously tight, or "completely rounded". Read the other reviews  Show details

great tool, poor backup – This is a great and handy tool, have had it for many years. have been trying to buy replacement parts for months now and the backup service is an absolute joke. you cannot order parts online, they give you a number that is for sales only, then transfers you to someone that has no idea, takes your details and never rings you back. quicker to buy a more off the shelf reputable brand that supports its product.  Show details

how useful – the blades are blunt after first small cut. has very limited use had it for 18 months used it twice those blades are now blunt. It was a present so I have to keep it but to me it is useless. It may be the poor quality of the blades but it took forever to make 2 cuts

Renovator Multi Tool – As usual this tool looked too good to be true and as usual it was. I haven't used all the pieces yet and not sure if I want to going by the outcome of the ones I have. paint. The Semi Circular Saw blade took for ever to make a cut in PVC downpipe I followed their instructions and didn't force it but it's hard to get it to stay in one place long enough to cut. Once it finally made a small cut I gave up and used my handsaw which took seconds to cut it. The only piece I've had some success with is the E-Cut Saw Blade that's come in handy for cutting old guttering although it gets a bit scary when using the tool while standing on a ladder. The instructions on attaching and using the pieces could do with a look at it says not to over tighten the bolt when attaching a piece then as soon as you make contact with what your cutting there's a terrible noise and the piece has worked it's way loose. It says not to apply pressure let the tool do the work then the tools hard to keep in one spot and doesn't cut or takes forever to do a simple cut. I definitely wouldn't recommend this tool as an easy solution to your renovation problems.

Expensive advertising, cheap shoddy product – Very noisy. Poor quality attachments which blunt easily when used as directed - these are also expensive. Very disappointing. A masterpiece of advertising hype for a shoddy product. Don't even think of buying it!

Renovator Multitool – I bought this from a friend who was leaving the country. I tried using the long wood/plastic cutting tool bit to cut slot in wood. with a technician at their service centre to find out what was causing this problem and if possible get them to fix it. This was apparently not possible. The customer service person I spoke with was so off-putting, defensive and to a point, rude. All she could repeat were standard responses presumably trained to do. If this is the way Renovator customers are going to be treated I will spread the word not to buy any product from them as service is non-existent! The tool is not anywhere close to what it is as advertised on TV. I probably should have read owners review before I purchased it.

Renovator "The 15 Minute Tool" – Bought this tool 2 years ago and it has sat in box until now, unused. Pull it out the other day to sand a piece of old furniture. Lasted less than 15minutes. Gear not engaging sanding pad. Rang Customer Services and they didn't want to know about it. Would not buy anything promoted by Brand Developers ever again. Nothing. Stopped after less than 15 minutes use. Bad warranty service and expensive.

The Renovator's Pros and Cons – Not the best oscillating tool available but it will perform with-in the capabilities of the tools perimeters. Meaning, it is designed to cut material in tight positions and is never meant to be used as an all purpose power saw as some are led to believe. It is a very useful commodity in confined spaces, where no other tool can gain access. Its… Read more

ease of performance in those conditions will make you very happy you own it. The power is ample for the tasks asked from it. Vibrations from the tool after prolonged used can get annoying but it is an easy compromise for skinned knuckles using a hammer and chisel. Overall there is better oscillating tools available but it is certainly worth owning one regardless of brand. What lets The Renovator down are the blades and accessories. All blades will go blunt or wear out at some stage but the accessories that come with the tool are not worth fitting to the machine. Find a good source of blades and accessories and you will be happy to own this tool. Plenty of power. Gets into tight locations like no other tool can. Worthy tool for the right application. Gets excessively hot with prolonged use. The accessories and blades are poor quality.

I was also taken in by the advertising of this product – Overall, I shouldn't have bought this tool. My rating is bad, bordering on OK at the middle. Most of the jobs it does I already had tools that would do them. So I was sucked in by the advertising. I will start with the positives first. I have found it a good tool for plunge cutting and making powerpoint holes. The scraper is a really good… Read more

attachment and has saved a lot of time in removing old glue from flat surfaces. Sorry, but here ends the positives.

Negatives.

1. My purchase came with a lot of accessory attachments, however there is no way they can be stored in the little case with the machine, so it is easy for them to get separated etc.

2. Some of the blades are made from material of such a thin gauge that the clamping washer does not even grip them. This results in a blade that just sits and rattles and does very little, and I think would cause wear to the holding hex centre if used for any length of time.

3. Starting cuts can be difficult. Damage around the start of the cut can result from the vibration. I have found pressing a thumb against the side of the blade and going slow is a sort of solution.

4. The sanding pads and functions are poor. The soft cloth backing of the sanding pads wear quickly. Light pressure and the pad will sand the surface very slowly. At a point of increasing sanding pressure movement commences on the velcro surface rather than the surface being sanded. This results in quick soft cloth backing failure and the sanding pad is soon no longer any good for the machine. I thought it would be good for sanding in tight places, but alas, hand sanding with a cork block has been returned to. Will leave the scraper blade on permanently and chuck the rest away. Not easy to work with.

Does not do the job advertised – 1.Rubs the Velcro from the sanding discs when using the sanding pads. I tried all speeds but the result was the same. 2 Tools vibrate loose after a few seconds and stop cutting when using on softwood, particle board and medium density fibre boards. 3 It does a good job cutting plastic drums in half. Cuts plactic well No good for timber even softwood nor sanding

Waste of money, nothing like shown on tv – Got this as per ad's on TV, tried it once, It's like a kids toy. Good to cut paper, but it can't event cut a simple nail, or go over a sheet of slim wood panel. A total waste of money, returned it the next day. Better off spending a bit more and getting some power tools... Nothing at all Can not do anything worthwile

The Renovator – I saw this tool on TV and thought it would be very useful. It could be if it did things like in the ad. 1. It weighs quite a lot and is therefore not so manipulable in awkward places. 2. It makes an incredible amount of noise. Ear protection is a necessity. 3. When using the vacuum cleaner attachment, you will need another person to hold the… Read more

hose in place. If not, the hose will fall out. It then becomes very unmanageable.

4. I used it to cut 5mm thick perspex. The progress of cut is very slow, The perspex melted due to the high amount of friction and the cut was anything but smooth.

5. I tried to cut some 0.75mm sheet steel. Forget it! It bounced all over the place and was impossible to get a line started. I went back to my Black and Decker jig saw and got it cut in no time.

6. The sander is not great but does the job slowly. The problem is that there is a sort of Velcro material stuck on to the rubber pad and after the first use, it began to detach.

7. The types of material for which each attachment can be used on is printed on each attachment. Good idea. Unfortunately it gets rubbed of when one uses the attachment. If you do buy this tool, take a picture of the attachments before you use it so that you can make your own label.

I still have to try out cutting wood but I am not very hopeful that it will be a wonder tool there.

I cannot say that I would recommend anyone to buy this tool. High vibrations are fine but generate a lot of heat. Maybe one can adapt it to give massages!!!!

Noise, slow cutting rate, weight

Disappointed – Again sucked in by advertising! The Renovator is nowhere near as good as we are told. It took ages just now to cut through 4mm pine and the blade kept coming loose (yes, I did it up tightly, several times!). In the end the last piece of timber snapped so the cut is not neat, and there are burn marks on it. This was supposed to be a simple straight-cut job. Expensive way to make an easy job difficult.

Total Waste of Money – Doesn't do the things that it states in the tv advertisement. Therefore it doesn't really do what it supposed to. I was also concerned about getting spare parts and can't get spare blades anywhere. I eventually gave this to my son for his craftwork as it's no good for real household work. Lightness of the tool Hopeless on hardwood and most metals
