I was 7 weeks into a difficult breastfeeding journey when I had a rescue call with Sarah. I had a very painful crack on one nipple that wasn’t healing and was shaking with pain every time my baby latched. I had also been told by a IBCLC that my baby had several oral ties that would need releasing as well as a weak tongue and jaw. I went into the… Read more
call feeling pretty hopeless and wasn’t sure how much longer I could continue breastfeeding. Within minutes of speaking to Sarah I felt reassured and hopeful again. My baby latched without pain for the first time in weeks and continues to do so 10 days later. The crack on my nipple is almost healed and I am finally enjoying and looking forward to feeds. I was so impressed with Sarah’s knowledge and ability make such significant improvements over a video call. I will be forever grateful for her help!
The Thompson Method is a must have for all mamas to be. I highly suggest getting started with this helpful course prior to giving birth so one can be as well equipped as possible when navigating the first months of breast-feeding a newborn. rewarding parts of parenthood. Birth is sacred and Postpartum is a very tender and special time, The Thompson Method is perfectly aligned to make these transitions as smooth and informed as possible. There are many seasons in the journey of parenthood, but to have such caring individuals leading the way with The Thompson Method, makes it all easier and more enjoyable. The care and connect calls are so personal and full of valuable information. The course takes you through all of the important steps from making sure your birth is on your terms as well as getting started with breast-feeding in the most attuned way. I’m very grateful to have had The Thompson Method in my back pocket while I was postpartum with my first born and now as I navigate the early days with my second. Because I had already gone through the course and refreshed before having my second baby, I was able to begin breast-feeding my son in a way that resonated with me and on my terms. Guided by my intuition and affirmed by The Thompson Method, my experience has been incredibly rewarding.
I just wanted to say thank you to this amazing program and community! My original goal was to nurse until 2 years, but as time went on and I read more and more information I decided to keep going until my little decides he doesn’t want to anymore. and was left so weak and anemic - and I failed at nursing her beyond the 2 weeks I painfully tried to figure it out alone. I was young and had no support other than my mother in law telling me over and over “breast is best”. I’ll never forget where I stood in my home the day I broke down and cried and said I couldn’t try any longer. She was continuing to lose weight as we had to visit the ped every other day to check.
Fast forward 14 years. Pregnant with my second. Knowing how valuable breastfeeding is (and oh so much more than I did with my first baby about all sorts of things!), I was determined to set myself up for success so I found this course and studied it as I also prepared physically and spiritually for my “redemption” homebirth (as my midwife called it). I recall referencing the videos a couple times during the first several feeds to be sure i recalled the fine tuning.
And here we are, 2 years and 8 months later! Still going strong!

2.8 years thanks to Dr Robyn – From the very first moment my daughter was born right up to 2.8 years when we finished our breastfeeding journey I owe ALL our success to Dr Robyn. changed my life and my daughter’s ( and many others I’m sure ) with her dedication, commitment, compassion and support for breastfeeding mothers. Her legacy will live on for generations x
The guidance I truelly needed as a first time mum – Thank you Dr Robyn and the Thompson Method team. I was saddened by the news of her passing and what a wonderful legacy to leave behind. Thank you Dr Robyn for giving me the confidence to Breastfeed within minutes after giving birth and the strength to advocate for myself and my sons natural ability as a first time mum. 16 months and going strong. Amazing content and assistance that was super useful in my journey – Just posting to express my gratitude for this course and to Dr Robyn Thompson. I never could've imagined breastfeeding my 2nd child to 17+ months, especially after struggling so much with my 1st. I wasn't aware of the Thompson method with my firstborn, and I combo fed her with the bottle (formula and breastmilk) until I eventually switched… Read more · 1
exclusively to formula at 8 weeks postpartum.
When I was pregnant with my 2nd child, I came across this course, and boy am I glad I purchased it. Because of what I had learnt, my baby latched all on his own very quickly after doing the breast crawl during the golden hours after birth!
We did go through some rough patches with nipple soreness, which led to some bottle feeding and temporary formula top ups. But with advice from the team here, I was able to pump to protect my supply and then used a nipple shield for a short time to get him back on the breast with minimal pain. Pair that with an amazing maternal Child health nurse who was familiar with the Thompson method, and in no time I was nursing him exclusively.
I went on to breastfeed until just a few weeks ago, he was down to one nursing session a day. I was ready to stop...it was bittersweet and I cried about it. But I am incredibly thankful for this blessing, and recommend this to any woman looking for help with breastfeeding. Thank you once again, from the bottom of my heart. God bless
GOLD for a happy L&D and natural BF!! – I used Dr T’s program for all three of my babies. Even as a second and third time mom, I went through the entire education she provides in the app and learn new things each time! Most people only think about planning for postpartum—but have no idea what to REALLY plan for labor and delivery, and after. Thanks to Dr T., I was super determined to… Read more · 1
have a natural vaginal delivery without pain meds, and she helped me navigate everything (from avoiding interventions to letting my babies lead with gentle assistance around the breast). I can’t believe the beautiful positive memories I have surrounding especially my last two deliveries (I only discovered her after delivering my firstborn via vacuum and epidural…it was not fun). Yes, natural birth hurt of course—but knowledge is power and with my hubby and doula and Dr T for support, I got through it and my recoveries were waaaay easier than my first. I know that Dr T is the reason I had such amazing experiences. All the natural oxytocin during l&d and after to get nursing going was and IS such a gift. Through the early sleep deprived days of waiting for my milk to come in, feeding on demand, supply adjusting, growth spurts, nursing strikes, teething, starting food, sudden behavioral changes, my own hormones, positioning a newborn vs older babies…and the HUGE database of Q&A you can search through…I can go on and on. This IS it. Breastfeeding shouldn’t even be called a method, as this IS the natural way to do it (but of course Dr Thompson can call it her method as she seems to be the only woman out there who knows all this!). I’ve had some excellent lac consultants and fellow mamas give great tips over the years, but not like this. Dr T lives and breathes this topic and is so calming and fun to listen to. The app is extremely easy to follow and picks up where you left off. The facebook group is a goldmine and the whole working Thompson family very present there. My baby now is 9 months old and I’m still looking up questions about her silly random behavior now for a refresher. THANK YOU and so much love to you. I have gifted this course 3x over the years and will continue to do so for all my friends and fam who get pregnant!!! Best gift ever. Even our nanny has it so she can help postpartum mums better :)

Extended breastfeeding experience – Robyn’s method meant I breastfed my daughter until she was nearly three which is a huge accomplishment for me given I was in my 40s and only breastfed a very short time with my eldest babies. I’m so very grateful for Robyn’s advocacy and support and research. Show reply
2 years with first now onto my second – I fed my first baby for two years using TTM and loved it. I count it as one of the greatest achievements of my life. I recommend this program to anyone who wants to breastfeed their Bub. You’ll get all kinds of advice (often differing between different medical professionals!), but arm yourself with this knowledge too and you may just find that it feels much more natural to you.
Highly recommend! – I had real trouble breast feeding my first. I didn’t have great information and ended up going from over supply to no supply. Get educated on breastfeeding before your baby comes! – Dr Robyn and her team are an absolute necessity to have in your toolkit! both together), life support for the first 4 days of his life, severe separation, I did not get to hold him until he was 4 days old. My husband helped me hand express colostrum and we put it down his feeding tube, then I expressed round the clock to bring my milk in. We lived in Ronald MacDonald house for the first 10 days whilst our boy was in NICU. We couldn’t establish breastfeeding during our hospital stay. We brought him home on EBM. I had a video call with the incredible TTM Dawn, 24hrs later we were breastfeeding…12 months later we are still going. My son is thriving, he is reducing his feeds as he needs and I follow his lead. My mother always said that breastfeeding her six children was easy….maybe it wasn’t maybe it wasn’t. For me it was brutal yet I was so determined, and I got there because of the TTM and Dawn. In the early days I cried a lot, not because it was painful but because I was just all over the place. I remember reading other mothers posts of encouragement as their babies were older than mine. Looking back I’m deeply proud of my son and I, and my husband for his unwavering support.
To any mummy out there in a dark place, as the beautiful Dr Thompson says “follow your instincts they will never be wrong” and reach out to the TTM team….they are a blessing ❤️

Disappointing – I didn’t find this program helpful, and in all honesty I felt it ended my breastfeeding journey when other supports may have been more helpful. persevere with my breastfeeding journey. We are about to reach the one year of mark now and it's amazing how much of a difference time and persistence has created. Initially we triple fed (advice from NICU nurses) then used Dr Robin's methods to move away from pumping and bottle feeding eventually bub refused formula, then refused ebm in a bottle too favouring directly feeding from the breast meaning we reached out goal. Dr Robin's methods means breastfeeding is now a relaxing and bonding time for us that we don't plan to stop until bub naturally weans.

This program set me up for a successful breastfeeding experience – I’m so beyond grateful to the Thompson Method for setting me up for a successful breastfeeding journey. However I had an excellent obstetrician… Read more · 1
who advocated for me when the paediatrian wanted to take Scarlett the second she was born for ‘routine checks’, repeatedly telling him “no, baby goes straight to mum for skin-to-skin”. Scarlett came straight to me and had her first feed in recovery; being premature she had a bit of trouble with low blood sugar levels, the midwives helped me express extra colostrum after each feed to top her up and maintain her blood sugar in those first few hours, after this time she was able to exclusively breast feed without the need for any topping up. Throughout my hospital stay I had several midwives assume she was my second baby because of how well she was breastfeeding.
I never had any bleeding or cracking of my nipples despite finding out that Scarlett had tongue, lip and cheek ties that were restricting her ability to latch as effectively as some other babies might, which I completely credit to the Thompson Method. Despite so many complications Scarlett has completely thrived, she was 2.7kg at birth and is now a whopping 9kg at 6 months old!

Once Robyn observed me getting my son on the breast to feed she advised to make small adjustments and the pain I had been experiencing during a feed, went away! with Dawn and she was able to assist me SO much. The feeds were incredibly painful for me and it would cause frustration on both ends. This would then result in engorgment and mastitis. All along, I was searching for textbook answers to ‘how to breastfeed’ however Dawn taught me that I need to do what works best for me and bubs. I remember telling Dawn how much I HATED breastfeeding and couldn’t wait to get to the 6 month mark so I can wean off.
However, as time went by, my milk regulated, my nipples were less sore, and the connection with my baby was indescribable.
Seeing her flourish and hit milestones, all through having my breastmilk was enough to motivate me to continue and it made me enjoy the process, I no longer ‘hated’ breastfeeding.
Never did I think that we’d get to 1 year. I didn’t even think we’d get to 6 months. It’s been a long and hard journey and I am so incredibly proud of it. And we aren’t stopping anytime soon cos my baby girl loves a good feed.

My baby boy was born via a natural, vaginal birth at 38 weeks. The more I have listened and learned about late preterm and early term babies, the more I understand the importance of intervention like pumping and nipple shields to assist breastfeeding success. The Thompson Method discourages the use of both in the first 4-6 weeks which is more damaging than beneficial in this context.
The method seems to oversimplify many aspects of breastfeeding and overcomplicate others which is not particularly helpful for a new mum.
The program has been useful to me alongside the advice of my midwife and lactation consultant.
