⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience with Torrens University, particularly in administration, documentation, and student support. Throughout my degree, I experienced ongoing administrative failures, most notably unresolved errors on my academic transcript despite formal approval for refunds under the Extenuating Circumstances process. I followed up 7–8 times via email and phone and repeatedly requested escalation, yet incorrect fail grades remain on my record with no clear timeline, ownership, or accountability.

A major issue has been the lack of proper documentation and incomplete processes. Refunds were approved, yet I was not provided with clear invoices or formal documentation outlining exactly which subjects were refunded and how the adjustments were applied. This lack of paper trail has directly contributed to ongoing errors and delays.

Processes often felt half-finished and poorly coordinated, with departments working in silos and students left to repeatedly explain the same situation. I was also asked to re-answer personal and sensitive questions related to circumstances I had already formally documented and had to relive multiple times due to poor internal record-keeping and communication between teams.

Student Services was largely ineffective in escalating issues. Despite calling, explaining the urgency, and being told matters would be followed up internally, no meaningful action or resolution occurred. Escalation appeared procedural rather than supportive.

These failures have had serious real-world consequences, directly impacting my ability to apply for competitive graduate roles and progress my graduate visa under strict deadlines. At a critical transition point after completing my degree, the university’s lack of documentation, follow-through, and accountability caused unnecessary stress, emotional strain, and financial pressure.

There is a clear disconnect between the university’s messaging around student support, employability, and graduate outcomes, and the actual experience students face when they need timely, documented, and competent administrative assistance. While some academic staff and course content are strong, the systems supporting students outside the classroom—particularly international students navigating visas and compliance-sensitive processes—are unreliable.

I would strongly caution prospective students, especially international students, to consider the risks of administrative delays, poor documentation, ineffective escalation pathways, and limited accountability when choosing this institution.

They are bad man! The quality of their lectures and the content of each unit are below the standard level! Their teachers are using YouTube videos and power points for teaching and expecting year 1 students to write academic papers like year 4 in bachelors without any internet sources or AI assistance and keep accusing students of academic misconduct! Enroll into a university with a reputation not a Humpty Dumpty university!

Don’t enroll with TU – I have reported them to ASQA for breach of academic standards and ACCC for breach of contract. Although the course was online there was a component of virtual class time on the ASQA approved course outline which meant it met the requirements for VSL. Direct study time was not met. We were lucky to have 1/3 the direct study time stated on the documents. We were told this time would be reduced even further the following semester. DIV001 was a [Content Removed] show for counselling students. Not only was it meant to be taught over 12 weeks but was crammed into 5, but they threw counselling students into classes with nursing students. There was little reference for counselling. The IT issues with a change of systems and not being advised who’s class you were in only exacerbated the issues. 15k for a course you expected to have a significant amount of direct study time in only to receive SFA against other RTO’s at a fraction of the price - you do the math!

Hi Amanda, Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns. We take them very seriously.

We're committed to delivering high-quality education and continuously improving our courses. Since the period you mentioned, we've implemented several enhancements, including clearer communication around timetables and a 3-day week, additional support specifically tailored for counselling students, improvements to our online learning systems to minimise technical disruptions and ultimately increase the value of our courses for our students.

While we can't comment specifically on your individual circumstances, we acknowledge that during the COVID-19 period and for a short time after, there were times when we had to shift to virtual classes in response to health guidelines. We always aimed to meet direct study time requirements, but we understand this may have caused confusion or frustration. If there was any miscommunication or misinformation regarding your timetable or class structure, we sincerely apologise.

If you'd like us to investigate your specific situation further, please contact our student services directly. Your experience matters to us, and we'd appreciate the chance to address your concerns individually.

Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you all the best moving forward.

My enrolment with TU was only last year. Therefore it had nothing to do with Covid.
