Tupperware Happy Chopper

Not worth buying – I sliced a small onion and put half of it into the chopper to see what it was capable of. After considerable effort twisting the lid I found only half the onion had been chopped so didn't bother to try with the other half. I have a Kmart string chopper which is great, but thought I was buying something of better quality. Show details
Happy chopper – Best chopping product that is out no more using a knife to get the perfect chop size for your vegetables Show details
Good – Although the 'con' described above is annoying, the chopper is good to chop things finely. It's also good if you are chopping a lot ( eg for a BBQ) as it will save you time. Easy chops food like onion, nuts, garlic etc. Easy to use. Be careful cleaning it as the blades are sharpe! The part which doesn't really make sense to me is how small it… Read more
is. For example to chop an onion in it, you have to get a knife and chopping board out to peel the onion, chop it into quarters or eighths to fit in the chopper ...... THEN use the chopper to chop it up. You might as well have chopped it by hand by this stage! And you now have even more to wash up!
Bad – This product is great for chopping up herbs, garlic and onions finely, however it is way to small if you want to chop a whole onion. I've also seen people grind nuts in it which is one of the reasons I bought it, but I find it to be a bit frustrating because you can only do a few nuts at a time and it gets jammed frequently. I think the product is… Read more
good for herbs and garlic, but probably a bit expensive considering it's limits. It is less messy and safer than chopping herbs on a chopping board...if you're clumsy like me.:-) Chops food fine, quickly and with little mess. It's too small
Excellent – The happy chopper is the smaller of the 2 Tupperware choppers and is fantastic for the small items or small quantities. Contrary to some of the reviews this is NOT the one with the blades to whip cream or dry salads. This is the small one that fits in the users hand and only has the little blades. I have also not had any trouble chopping… Read more
carrots and pumpkin in mine, bottom in one hand, top in the other and turn and cut away. So easy! easily held in hand, easy to turn, fast, efficient chopping price, small size but then I have the bigger one too :)
Good – I find this a very handy piece of equipment to have. Hubby also enjoyes using it altho sometimes puts too much in and spills it. Excellent with onions and to wash and spin out salads. Blade is very very sharp. Love that its a easy to clean and dry. Overall the pros out weigh the cons. Quick, easy way of making batters, pancake mix, whipping cream,… Read more
chopping onions. Easy to clean. Salad basket is a great little extra Cannot hold large quanities, need to make things in batches. Has trouble chopping harder vegetables eg carrots. Expensive unless you get it using your hostess rewards or second hand
Excellent – When i first used one while staying with friends, i had to have one. Just so happened that my mum had one that she didn't use so she gave it to me. ALRIIIIGHT!!!!!! i also find if you hold it sideways while using it, it seems to get through the 'tougher' stuff a lot easier. i like to make my own sauce for pastas and lasagnas. have had no trouble… Read more
at all with capsicum, mushroom, onion, zucchini and contrary to other reviewers, i use it to chop carrot as well. could be bigger but if this is the only downfall, so be it. the price wasn't an issue for me as it was a gift. :)
Terrible – Do not waste your money, if you have gone to the effort of chopping it up small enough to fit in the container and removing the skin you might as well just keep cutting, does not cut consistantly either. Do not buy. cool colour Goes from super sharp to blunt within month or so and ends up a storage container.
Good – I have found this chopper to be very useful in my kitchen. I use it to make baby food and this helps to save time. I use it for foods such as onion, celery, fresh herbs etc. I have also used the lettuce spinner attachment to get rid of excess water but as it is fairly small I had to do it in batches. As long as you don't use it for hard things… Read more
like carrot it is easy to use. I love my chopper. I love using it for onions which I hate having to cut up by hand. It is expensive and cant be used for things in large quantities or hard things such as carrots.
OK – This is a useful chopper for small items such as onion. If you are trying to do bigger quantities or chop some hard food eg carrots, then you may find it frustrating. If I were to have my time over, I would buy one of the cheaper choppers like this in the shops and put my tupperware money into a different item of tupperware. I have just about… Read more
every Tupperware product and while this is a reasonably good one, it isn't great. It chops small quantities of items such as onion really well, without the hassle of electricity etc These choppers get really tedious if you are trying to do bigger quantities. Things need to be chopped up a bit before you put them in the chopper.
They can't cope with some things-for example, carrots are difficult.
Blade is very sharp.
Excellent – I got the happy chopper as a gift for hosting a party. I have been very happy with it as it takes me half the time to chop onions (which in my book is a huge bonus!) You cannot however, use it to chop much else. I have tried carrots but they are too hard. My only regret is not having it when my daughter was a baby, as it would have perfect for… Read more
small quantities of baby food!
Overal, easy to clean and easy to use. Quick and easy to use Cannot use it to chop much besides onions
Bad – There are much better kitchen devices to chop things than the Tupperware Happy Chopper. I find that it is very difficult to use as if you have small hands they can barely stretch across the top of it to enable gripping of the sides so that the chopper can be twisted. It would be very difficult for the elderly and disabled to use the chopper. … Read more
Very disappointed with my purchase and not a happy chopper. It's small in size so it fits easily into the cupboard...which is great because that's where it remains! Very awkward to use - you need to use a twisting motion and your hands keep slipping off. Inadequate and difficult grip.
Bad – I was quite disapointed with this product. It was quite pricey, as most tupperware products are, and because of the price I thought it would be a great addition to my kitchen. However, after using it a few times, it sits on the back of my cupboard unused. The container is useful, and its good that it comes with a lid. The blades jam when you fill… Read more
the happy chopper up. There is not much that you can actually fit in it, so if you are cutting potatos or some other vegetable, it takes a lot of time, doing them in separate loads. Also it does not cut fresh herbs very well at all.

Excellent – I looove my happy chopper. It is great for chopping onion, nuts, ginger, garlic, herbs etc. No more crying when chopping onions. The life time warrant gives peace of mind. It is convenient to use and easy to wash. It is quick to use compared to chopping by hand. The seal that comes with it means I can make salsa, remove the blade then store and… Read more
serve in the one container saving washing up. It is also diswasher safe (except the blade) making cleaning easy. It is expensive but worth it (can get cheaper by hosting a party). The blades are sharp so care needs to be taken.
Good – Such a great item for cutting up large quantities of onions - a bit much to use just for a small amount as the washing up takes a while due to the blade. So fast and easy to use - can store unused food with the seal lid. there is no blade cover and the blade is so sharp that you could easily get a really bad cut. Washing up is difficult becuase you are scared of cutting yourself.
OK – Really good at chopping small quantities fast. Great for people who don't like chopping onions. Meed to take care with the sharp blade, but otherwise is a useful gadget to have. Can cut up onions without crying. Cuts very quickly. Small and compact. Has VERY sharp blades so there is not much it wont chop. Nice colours! Has a seal so you can store… Read more
any food that is left in the chopper. Takes a bit of effort to wash - the blades are very sharp so you have to be careful not to cut yourself. Onions can leave a lingering smell in the chopper.
Terrible – I had an old Zyliss chopper and thought I would upgrade to this Happy Chopper - what a mistake. This happy chopper has so many flaws and so few benefits. It is awkward to use, having to twist it is not a movement that comes naturally and is very difficult with something like and onion. It is no good with small amounts of things like 2 garlic… Read more
cloves. I bought a 1970's Zyliss chopper for $1 from St Vinnies and have thrown the Happy Chopper to the back of the cupboard. Will dice a quartered onion if you have the strength to twist it with a whole onion in it. Is useless at chopping things like herbs it just moves them around, the blade is exposed when you open it and is dangerous.
Excellent – Overall, I just love this little happy chopper, which I prefer to call my onion chopper. I am always very happy to use it therefore I should really call it 'My Happy Onion Chopper'. When I had a Tupperware party a few months back and saw this great new product...I though what a great idea, and then I looked at the price and thought...Mmmm would I… Read more
really use it much for that price??..Well let me tell you, I use it all the time, and although I am not Italian, you would probably think I am with the amount of meals I make that require onion. I know this chopper is supposed to be good for a few other things like hard vegetables/fruit (not capsicums), but I don't have the need to chop those vegies much. It works so fast and chops my onions into large pieces with just a couple of turns or for smaller chopped pieces it's just a few more turns a Whalllah!! Done...No mess...no more tears...no onion fingers...and best of all it can stay in the container just like so until you need to add to meal or you can even take the chopping blade out and take the twist lid off and put the air-tight storage lid on (which comes with it) and just pop it in your fridge for whenever you need onion in a hurry. Fantastic idea! As for the smell, I don't have a problem at all with that as i use the onion straight away and rinse all the parts under warm water and air dry on sink (be very careful with leaving the blade lying around if you have kids) and other than that as far as storage goes, I keep My Happy Onion Chopper in my pantry - up high as the blade is very sharp. My Happy Chopper is RED colour which I also love as that goes just perfect with my kitchen. Looks great, design and colour and very very quick and easy to use! Costs a little bit...about $40.00? (off the top of my head)
Excellent – I use it everytime I need chopped onions, that's 4-5 times a week. It's easy on the hands and wrist. I've also used it for nuts and herbs and it's done the job. I have the older blue colour and the blades are still sharp, the tupperware lady said you can also by blades as replacement parts if you accidently throw them away with the scraps. I gave… Read more
some as christmas presents to my parents and inlaws, they love using them. My hands don't smell, my eye's don't water. Get's smelly with constant use for onions. Though the dishwasher usually keeps the smell minimal.
Terrible – I love Tupperware but this is one product that needs to be scrapped. It is a waste of time, much easier to use a knife or food processor. Do not buy. Easy to clean, compact size. Time consuming and hard on the wrists; no good at chopping most nuts, blades are dangerous when the chopper is stored in a drawer with other things because the lid comes off easily.
Terrible – Overall, I wouldn't waste my money. I was sold on the chopper at a demonstration - while cutting strawberries. When blades are new it works perfectly, but to have to keep buying more blades you have to ask yourself twice. Great way to chop onion. comes with a seal so if you don't use all the chopped up stuff, then you can pop it straight in the… Read more
fridge ready to go next time. Blades go blunt a bit quick for my liking just adding the expense coz you have to buy new ones. The bowl is a bit small so if you want to chop lots, then you have to do it in batches. Doens't chop garlic the best and doesn't cut nuts very well like they say. The gears have jammed up a couple of times too.
Good – A very good buy. For anyone looking for that one item to buy when asked to a tupperware party, look no further than the happy chopper The best hany onion chopper I have ever used very little - except I would like a way to store the blade safely while the rest is in the dishwasher

Bad – I bought one of these primarily because of my severe distaste for cutting onions. I can't stand the smell of them raw and the tears streaming down my face. It worked really well for the first month or so, but now the blades are blunt and of course, the blades aren't guaranteed by Tupperware, only the plastic parts. Now I have a rather expensive… Read more
container that I can't really use for it's intended purpose. Easy to chop onions, which I normally hate doing so much that I leave them out of every dish that I cook! The blades seem to have been blunted really quickly (in less than a month and I don't use them THAT often). I have no idea how to replace them.
Excellent – I have tried many onion choppers and this is by far the best. It is really easy to use and clean ( except that you have to handle the blade with care). It chops up other veggies well also which is great for cooking meals for bubs. I bought it mainly because I was so tired of crying every time I cut up an onion so for me it is definately worth the… Read more
money. No more tears....Yaaay!!! Very easy to cut yourself with the super sharp blade. A little on the expensive side (although it does come with a lifetime guarantee).
Terrible – Good concept, shame they didn't make a top that fits properly. It should not slip at all. Save your money. I bought it to chop onions,it works for the first few twists but once the inside top edge gets onion juice on it, it slips around and stops choping unless you tightly hold the lid on the side.Tupperware has replaced it 3 times and it still does the same thing. Hopefully the next one works.
Terrible – It may be OK for softer food items - but not for nuts. My main purpose for purchase was to chop nuts and now I am not happy Jan! It doesn't chop nuts to a consistent size and it is hard work to even get that result.
Excellent – It is a must kitchen gadget for those who loves to cook. I've cooked lots of bolognaise at home. Chopping the onions is the worst part of it. Having this happy chopper have really save my preparation time and forget those tears. No tears and quick when used to chop onions. I've just purchased it recently and it has been the favourite kitchen… Read more
gadget so far. I use it mostly to chop onions, although it can also be used to chop herbs of nuts. The blades are extremely sharp. It is really easy to use and very easy to clean. Nothing really.
