Easy and quick to book – I tried making a booking on another car rental website directly and I'd get to the final stage and it wouldn't work, giving the error "bad request". No such trouble on vroom vroom vroom and even better, the booking I made was significantly cheaper, so far so good and hopefully no drama next month when I pick up the car Show 2 replies

The worst time for hiring a car.........Christmas!!! – We were trying to book a car with Budget directly and they were booked out - NO CARS !!! I went to vroomvroomvroom ..and we were able to get the car we wanted at a decent rate on the dates we wanted.

DO NOT USE – Book directly from the rental company. Vroom charged a "deposit" from me,* supposedly a booking fee. Turns out Bargain car rental doesn't request, recognise or charge a deposit/booking fee. Essentially I ended up paying $87 more by booking via Vroom than booking directly via Bargain. Charles Hospital. So I booked the car, knowing it would be very difficult to afford it as Ive been out of work for ^ weeks now. Anyway, long story short, a friend really came through for me....so I didnt need the car. Friend only confirmed he could help late Sat afternoon, past the 48hr refund cancellation period. I called Vroom Vroom Vroom, explained all Rhanny. He was great, sympathetic and understanding, couldnt promise a "courtesy refund" but he would try with/through his manager. HE CAME THROUGH. they are giving my full refund!! Made my week, not just my day. Think a lady - [Name Removed]? had called (missed the call) to follow up as well. I'll definitely be using them again. Thank you so much guys!! Cant say enough about your staff and company. If anyone is looking into renting a car, please use Vroom Vroom Vromm. Amazing customer service and support. for the rental fee and insurance with a credit card. When I went to pick up the car the following day at Thrifty, I was charged the rental fee and had to pay the insurance fee again. I showed them I had booked the car with Vroom x 3. Apparently, that was not valid and was told by the customer service representative at Thrifty that I would have been better off booking the car through Thrifty in the first place! That was the biggest and unexpected surprise waiting to happen. No transparency whatsoever. If there's one thing us customers do not want to happen, it's unexpected surprise. So I basically paid for the same service twice! Vroom x 3 certainly knows how to piss a customer off! If I had known that Thrifty was going to charge me when I arrived at their doorstep, I would not have bothered with this bloody thief of a company called Vroomvroomvroom. If you are familiar with ZMOT (Zero moment of Truth) Vroom x 3 would be wise enough to consider that we live in a society where consumers can now talk freely to one another and exchange experiences and information via social media and review sites such as this. Just another company with crappy business model wanting to take a fraction of the pie without regard to providing value to consumers. Stay away from this company by all means if you don't want a crappy day.

any excess payment be due at the end of the rental period, you would still have to pay the full excess amount to the car rental company first, then wait for more than a week (which is where I am now) for the rental company to send you the repair invoice, which you would have to submit to the 3rd party insurer together with other required documents which the rental company will provide you with.

11 days after returning my rental car and being charged with the full $4000 excess by Budget on my credit card, I'm still waiting for the repair invoice from Budget, which I will submit to the 3rd party insurer before they can even begin to assess my claim. (to be fair, Budget promises to refund me the unutilised portion of the $4000 after repair costs have been accounted for)

I hope this gives a fair idea of what to possibly expect should you purchase car insurance through vroomvroom's website, rather than directly with the car rental company, and end up in the unfortunate situation of having to pay excess (in my case, it was for a scratch at the back of the car which I only discovered when returning the car, without any inkling of how the scratch came to be)

I appreciate that vroomvroom provides a link with 3rd party insurers when renting a car through their platform.

I do think it's important to know what to expect when you do purchase insurance through this link.

Purchasing insurance directly with the car rental company may cost more, but saves all the work that I've described above, which still remains to be completed.

You make the choice.

car was a breeze, under 10 minutes. The staff were friendly and courteous. The vehicle was better than the one selected (Kia 7 seat to Hyundai 8 seater). There car was a delight to drive and had plenty of room for everybody. We toured McLaren Vale and Barossa.

Incomplete information leading to no car despite booking and terrible support – Am absolutely disappointed with Vroom Vroom Vroom booking system, as it did not specify that a P2 licence holder will not get the car despite having a valid booking. for hours as I could not get a car. I went on all car kiosk desks requesting for a car and none could provide due to same reasons. My whole trip was jeopardized due to no car availability despite pre booking done via Vroom Vroom Vroom.

My pre-booked car insurance worth 82 dollars from their site, was lost too as it was not refunded to me since I cancelled post the date of issue. Obviously I couldn't have predicted the future of car denial at airport and cancelled the insurance in advance now ,could I have ?

Appauling Service – Rang 2 hours before pickup stating hire company closed at 6pm if I was not there by 6pm no one would be available. My booking was for 6pm. No mention of a deadline of 6pm at time of booking. No leeway advised for late flight etc. Took 15 attempts to get through and only alternative was 3x the original amount. AVOID.

pickup the car. Sometimes the car rental co will want to be charging you more than was quoted when you booked. I recently hired a car from Melb Airport and Thrifty tried to charge me more at pickup than I'd booked it for. Upon me showing them the printout it was corrected. The Thrifty staff there are friendly and I like using the company, but disappointingly after drop off was slugged more than $320 for mileage when my car rental had unlimited kms. Contacting VVV via their app for help was super easy and their support staff were quick to investigate and my refund is now on it's way from Thrifty. So yes, I can definitely recommend Vroom Vroom Vroom and will keep using them.

 Follow-up  · To answer questions post my review : The Refund process was pretty quick. Only a couple of days. The app made it easy to seek help and get the refund sorted via 1 email back from them promptly after seeking help. The car was clean as is Thrifty’s usual standard. I booked it through Vroom vroom vroom. I’d certainly use them again. And have.
