Best Car Rental Services
Whether you’re going on a holiday, a business trip, or just need a vehicle to run some errands, there are a few things you should keep in mind when choosing a car rental service.

Your vehicle needs
Most car rental companies will offer a wide range of vehicles to suit all kinds of needs. That’s why you should define your exact travel needs before choosing a vehicle or even a company. Think about the size and type of car that would make your experience the most safe, comfortable and enjoyable - but is still within your budget.
For example, if you’ve got a lot of luggage, or a family, then you might want to look for a larger vehicle, like an SUV. Be honest with your needs and the conditions of your trip. You might be tempted to rent a convertible, but if the weather turns sour, then it won’t be the most practical choice for you.
Size
Although it may no be as much of an issue within Australia, size standards can vary across the world. For example, a “compact” car in Europe will be much smaller than a compact car in the United States.
You should also take into account that large cars tend to consume more fuel. They can also be a bit more difficult to manoeuvre, especially in cities with narrow roads.
Terms and conditions
The fine print may be a bit of a bore to read, but it will contain important details about your rental. Here are just some of the questions you should ask yourself.
- Are there any penalties or late fees?
- How high is the liability?
- Are there Single Vehicle Accident fees?
- Do you need to refuel before return?
- Do you have limited kilmoetres? This means you can only travel a certain distance in the car before you must pay extra in addition to the daily rental fee.
- Is it easy to extend the rental if needed?
Cost
Under Australian Consumer Law, rental car companies aren’t allowed to advertise a price that’s only part of the hire cost unless they also show the total price as prominently. That means if there are two prices advertised, then assume that the higher price is the actual price.
Don’t forget about additional costs when budgeting for your rental vehicle; costs like toll fees, parking fees, and any optional extras you may need - such as a baby car seat - can add up.
