Software works reasonably well with with my Canon scanner on macOS, but it has significant bugs that cause subsequent scans to be incorrectly cropped, and sometimes the UI incorrectly shows the previous scan and the current scan in different elements of the UI, which can cause concern about what exactly is being saved to disk. But the worst… Read more
part of the software is the support: rude, condescending, arrogant. Enough to make me seriously consider whether I would purchase it again in the future.
Use this if you have no other options to keep a scanner alive on an unsupported platform, otherwise I would look for other options.
VueScan scanner software works with everything – Vuescan is software for MS Windows and Macs. It works with almost every scanner. I recently upgraded(?) from Win 10 to 11 and a new PC - MSI. (I'll review that soon, but not as positively as here). sent me a copy of my original invoice. With that the software worked 100%.
I comment that I bought it 25 years ago, May 4th, 1998. Since then I've contacted Ed Hamrick several times for help and always got a prompt answer. Though sometimes a bit cryptic. Over that period I've used it on multiple different PCs and many different scanners. My version is the Pro version and still is, so I cannot comment on the cheaper, less functional ones. The Pro version outputs in a choice of several formats, JPG, TIFF, PDF etc. See the web site for a full description. Looking at other reviews it seems that 95% give it 5 stars and the remainder just 1 star with some very bitter comments. Hardly anyone in between. I'm giving it 5 stars because it works, works well, and keeps getting upgraded.
