Western Mountaineering Antelope GWS
1 review
Outstanding – No, GWS doesn't stand for Greater Western Sydney. It's 'Goretex windstopper'. This sleeping bag was a sensational addition to my winter hiking kit (or summer in tassie). Weight is 1.3kg. Not bad for a winter weight bag. Supposedly rated down to -15C. Please note: The packed size is too large for hiking UNLESS you buy a compression bag (eg: Sea to Summit) and it will reduce to the size of a basket ball. I don't know why the standard sleeping bag cover is not a compression bag like some I have purchased in the past.
If weight and space is critical you could try the Western Mountaineering Alpinlite. It is 0.9kg and smaller pack size. Wear an extra layer of thermals or a second pullover to ensure a warm sleep.
Please don't faint when you see the price. Superior quality. Durable. Water resistant. Wind proof. Toasty warm. Expensive. Packed size is large; need to buy a compression bag to reduce it to a viable pack size when hiking.
