Westmead Rehabilitation Hospital

zero stars would be adequate – Following is a brief summary of my experience spent in this hospital, which I shall always remember & forever regret my decision to come here. I never envisaged I'd be in a position to write such a review. Sleep was extremely difficult prior to 11pm as changes of shifts occurred outside my room. It was a very noisy place & staff equally loud, there was no control.
On occasions, nurses used my private room whilst I was present to write up various notes of other patients.
TV remote was inoperable for several days. The space between the buttons revealed deep grime when scraped. Replacement remote (not new) was much the same condition, disgusting for such an establishment.
I was allotted incorrect meals for my requirements, which were also not palatable.
Invoiced for items I did not receive.
Several requests were made to see management, however this fell on deaf ears & were impossible to contact.
Continued requests have been repeatedly made for a Discharge Summary over time, yet management still continue to renege on their promises.
It is difficult to believe a Private Hospital has descended to this standard..
I would not recommend this facility.
Unfortunately, my health fund is paying for this service & being short changed in the process.
My message> go Private in a Public hospital.
Lack of help – My elderly mother was here for 8 weeks during the lockdown in 2021. We found communication with her extremely difficult during this time as she needed help with the telephone. Trying to make contact after hours or on a weekend was nearly impossible. I found most of the staff and nurses to be helpful. However management were very difficult to deal with and showed a lack of compassion. I would NOT recommend this place. Richard
Westmead Rehabilitation Hospital – This purpose built 65 bed Hospital has very thin walls and no sound insulation. Most patients keep their doors wide open onto the common corridor 24/7. It is rather a noisy establishment, with some loud staff, some loud patients with their loud TVs, and their loud visitors, many hearing impaired? I found my rest and sleep repeatedly interrupted and destroyed during the day and night, I became sleep deprived and very stressed out. Also had equipment maintenance issues, as well as poor food catering, that was unreliable at times. Hydro-Therapy was useful. I would not like to be a patient there again!
