Recommended for cash servicing and legacy banking – Overall a fantastic transaction account, with good service (if a little slow at times) when it's needed, and much improved daily banking tools. If you're after a transaction account with great access to cash handling and in-person customer service, this is probably the best option available today. Customer service wise, branches are available… Read more

throughout the week nationwide, all with a Smart ATM, and many with 24/7 ATMs for cash servicing. Staff are usually friendly so long as you respect them, and reasonably quiet if visiting off peak. Do note the phone line is unavailable for general enquiries on weekends. Live chat is also available, although I couldn't get this to work in-app (one of many bugs found).

If you're using cash a decent amount, you can use ATMx and Precinct ATMs for free (in addition to Westpac and St George/Bank of Melbourne/BankSA ATMs and other banks), and deposit at any of Westpac Group's branches or Smart ATMs, as well as post offices.

The app can be slow and some features are just completely broken, but most things work very well and I much prefer Westpac's budgeting features over most, if not all, other banking apps' budgeting features. Online banking is also available, although it hasn't been updated with newer features like Osko payments or budgeting.

The account is free under age 30 or if you meet other requirements, and a Debit MasterCard is included - if you don't meet the requirements and want most of the same features, consider St George/Bank of Melbourne/BankSA as an alternative, as it does mostly the same thing for free at all times.

Terrible customer service at branch opening account – Logged a complaint 16 March21 at 9:43am on Westpac website to get REFUND of all the Monthly Service Fees collected on my choice Account and they are still debiting their monthly fees! My choice account was opened at Bondi Junction branch where a staff told me, and I made her repeat it twice, that because I am above 55 years old, No monthly fees… Read more

will be collected. Either she (provided her full name, date and time in my complaint) is a liar or a totally incompetent staff! I called to close my account, unfortunately they force us to go to branches to close account, and I really do not have time nor the desire to be confronted again with their staff incompetence! Great everyday account – I’ve had this account for 3 years, as a student on the youth account there is no fees. I love the Westpac app, it is very easy to use and you can pay on your phone.

The worst transaction account ever – I have been banking with them since 2013 and they give the worst interest on this account so I would recommend opening an account with ANZ since their interest is reasonable.

Excellent – I find this account ideal for having my salary deposited directly and being able to shop withdraw or make online purchases, pay my bills via Bpay and make fund transfers to other accounts. Nice to know I can link my ING Savings Maximiser to debit a specified amount from this account for my savings goals. I receive a clear and accurate statement… Read more

online that I can view and print for my record. Overall I say this account is one of the best I've had so far. Offers a Debit MasterCard for purchases wether local, international or online. Statements online saving paper and the environment. A small monthly fee of $3, completely manageable online, easy to make deposits, withdrawals, or have your salary deposited to the account. The only thing all consumers dislike is paying a monthly account keeping fee, but paying $3 is better than paying what other banks are charging $5+
