Much better than I expected- great home bike – I travel and use a lot of hotel gyms with good commercial equipment, and was unsure how good a home exercise bike would be. I did my research and found the York C420 highly recommended. I understand why now. Good ergonomics, easily adjusted, A good strong frame, seat and pedals that held me well (115kg), not moving around - feels solid when pedalling hard. The electro adjusted resistance easy to move up and down. And a good clear display showing the watts (and all the other bits) so I could easily keep up my effort to match my ideal cardio work out (180 to 200 watts for 20 min) I found it easy to put together, and am impressed by the strength and build of the machine.
Purchased in for $847.
not worth the upgrade! – I had a very, very old cheap, rickety exercise bike. I 'upgraded' to this new, 'modern' C420 & it wasn't cheap. For a start, user manual is assemble instructions (which are quite good - about 3.5/5) with almost nothing on usage. Can't swap to kilojoules, poor response to higher resistance (my old one, same mechanism, was faster!). I only think that the 'distance' is measured in Kms. Why are 'watts' so heavily featured? Pulse measure takes longer than my old bike - which was very slow -and is very inaccurate (I checked it against a proper unit). 'Recovery' is its only new idea, but it says to hold pulse measure (one in each hand) and press 'recovery' button - 3 tasks, 2 hands. Also, while the pulse measure is creeping up, the 'clock' for the recovery measure has started, so it can't be accurate either.
Purchased in for $750.
York c420 Exercise Bike Arrived Missing Parts – I ordered the York c420 Exercise Bike from BigW. Upon arrival and subsequent assembly, a major part was missing. I rang and left a message with the Australian distributor. It was forwarded to a message bank. I left a complete message with the name and Part Number of the item to see if they could supply it. I never received a return call. BigW was unable to provide a timeframe for the delivery of the missing part. Subsequently, I returned the bike to BigW for a refund. Given the lack of service, I decided to purchase a different brand bike that has a good service back up record.
