YouTube Premium

Youtube is turning in to a p*rn site filled with AI generated fake news and propaganda. You can't even watch a video about home building without it having a thunbnail with cleavage or half-dressed women. Youtube is also blocking accounts which mention the CCP in a comment. Google has lost all credibility and integrity, the decay of Youtube is just the latest in a string of examples.

You Tube is my only online streaming service which is becoming unwatchable due to constant buffering for ads but I am glad. I used to spend far too much time on it and Im glad its gone

YouTube premium is good if you’re a teacher because when you show student’s videos a lot so adds come on and the kids start blocking their ears or saying this is so cringe. Makes YouTube better – YouTube is soo much better without ads. Highly recommend. I wished the offered a cheaper tier that includes all the YouTube feature but didn't include YouTube music as that service is rubbish.

Worth it – I originally signed up for premium free trial because there was a series I wanted to watch. I have had premium since 2017. It's worth it's weight in gold. and youtube has a massive catalogue. I also love watching music videos on my TV so I have playlist with hundreds of music videos. I have also found alot of movies not on YouTube so I hire them for a few dollars on YouTube. You rent them for 2 weeks and have 48 hours to watch it after you start watching it. You also receive the music app but I don't use that as I just make music play list in the regular app. Highly recommend if you watch alot of music videos and various artists concert's. I don't really watch alot of origional content.

contact Google and YT to no avail! Australia Google is non existent for help as are both companies in general. Searched into various suggested links to rectify - no luck. Been into my profile at right top - no help there! I'm like a dog chasing his tail/a rat in a maze, going round and round for some place simple to update my Premium status, have submitted both my phone numbers, have verified my passwords, have contacted them begging for assistance from a HUMAN (remember this endangered species?), have written to Customer Service, Help Desk- nothing! I'm at the end of my tether and don't know how to get help. Shame - these Companies must be too financially poor (my guess) to employ a real live person like most other companies. directly on YouTube for just A$32.99. Which I did assuming that it would automatically cancel the previous subscription through the Apple (and rightfully so because that email didn’t say a word that I would need to cancel the old subscription manually). But apparently this was not the case - after a month of free trial they started charging me for the new subscription and KEPT charging for the old one. So, they have been DOUBLE charging me since December 2023 until March 2025 when I accidentally discovered it - for 16 months!!

So I have a few questions to YouTube: 1. Does a multi billion dollar company not have a CRM system where they store all client details? Didn’t it recognise that the same customer, with exactly the same name, email address and even the same credit card, subscribed to THE SAME SERVICE TWICE? Why did your system allow to subscribe me to the same service twice in the first place? 2. Why wasn’t the old subscription cancelled automatically if you clearly saw the customer was paying twice for the same service? I guess it wasn’t in your interest, huh ? It’s much nicer to get A$75/mo instead of $32, right? Appalling work ethic and customer care. 3. I didn’t receive a single invoice to my email, I was only getting invoices from Apple. If course I couldn’t remember where exactly I subscribed to what subscription and didn’t pay much attention to those Apple invoices but if I was getting invoices from YT as well, I would've likely spotted the double charging earlier.

Now, 16 months later, they only agreed to refund me for 4 months, instead of 16 - “because this is our policy”. Nicely played YouTube. Your CRM, notification and customer care suck.

Unsubscribed from all your services. Never again. Be careful people.

Rip-off – The premium feature is a good thing but the greedy google is determined to rip people off in Australia. In India you get 12-month subscription for around AUD $25/year but in Australia they charge$17/month and not many people subscribe because it's not affordable considering many other costs that people have to deal with. $70 a year with all the benefits and feature but Google is so foolish not to gain more subscribers in Australia by offering cheap and affordable prices.

Now I have to find an Indian person or a way to get an Indian prepaid debit visa gift card and use VPN to set my IP to India and purchase it that way to purchase from India.

Imagine if Google charged around the same as Amazon Prime more people would subscribe and their turnover on Youtube Premium would go up.

$16.99/ year is a rip-off and it used to be $19.99/year. Good luck Google. Greed will not gain you more.

Expensive necessity – Unfortunate situation where a monopoly dictates the terms. The service is fine but who else is in the market? That's how a company manages a $10 pm price hike without added benefits. Very disappointed.

I am switching to spotify and just using YouTube for free so I can have my playlists and not have bluetooth issues.

Youtube restricted my account for comments that don't exist – Youtube keeps sending me messages saying they have restricted my account for comments that are harassment and/or cyberbullying. There are no comments, they have produced no such comments. They have not allowed any avenue of appeal. Youtube has restricted my account with no breaches of any policy. There are no breaches of policy on my account comments.

Misleading – YouTube premium is misleading no ads but so many YouTube channels have sponsorship that is advertising so it is a lie to call YouTube premium ad-free it is not & YouTube music I can't listen to same songs without giving YouTube ID to prove my age no other music streaming services does that Show details

con job – Keep getting a pop up ad saying try premium for free, but then when I hit ok it wants my credit card details and ive got to cancel the subscription before the months up lol what a sort. Why don't they just say sign in, well give you a months free then after a month you go back to normal. Of course not!

Pay for premium but get ads – Did you know you will get ads on shorts? They don't say it anywhere on the websites but after contacting them apparently you get ads... even after paying for premium for years I am finally being fisted by the long arm of youtube/Google's horrific customer service and lies, already escalated the issue and am waiting for a response.

Warning. U Cannot cancel you tube music – Offer of free utube music is not free. And what's more U cannot cancel your you tube free music. Heaps and heaps of complaints on line about this. issues after your 'trial' period you get charged Especially also cannot report when someone else is accessing YOUR you tube music account. Unbelievable. Be warned. It's not free at all. I couldnt stomach it any longer – I subscribed to You Tube for music. The very poor setup for showing / using my selections drove me crazy so i moved my music to Spotify, which is simpler and clearer to use. Now I am unsubscribed from You Tube, the constant ads on the video channels has driven me away from using it much at all. I no longer need that rubbish in my life. Bloody horrible – youtube used to be a place where people could express themselves. It is now so censored, you can't say hello to someone without offending a complete stranger. Paying for a service that destroys your individuality is insane. youtube is a shark and you are a worm.

video or website the background music from the video you were initially watching plays at the same time and there appears to be no way to turn it off. It is a distraction and at times very loud. There actually may be a way to turn off the background music/noise but at an additional cost. I didn't stick around to find out since I was already so annoyed and frustrated. I had searched the internet for instructions re how to turn off the background music/noise and found some but they did not work. I absolutely do not recomment this product unless you are willing to put up with the annoying background music.

...has a chat section. Someone on chat says its a Promo........ which would explain the sudden and unsolicited appearance of my so called subscription. Chat person says leave it and it will expire automatically. Feasible if its a promo but under these circumstances I cannot believe this and would like turn it off now.

Not happy – I was signed up to YouTube Premium 'free trial' without my knowledge let alone permission. I then had unenviable task of trying to cancel the subscription. Using YouTubes guide on cancelling premium membership is a waste of time, I ended up having to renew my membership then had to go into subscriptions to cancel. Due to YouTubes sneaky tactics I will never sign up to anything they offer.

Movies – Poor sound, words not match action or lips don't match words. Sometimes no sound at all. Sometimes background conversation appears. Movies sometimes are cut off with no ending. Improvement soon

Do not buy! Buyer beware! – Most of the 'features' Premium has were standard until they got greedy, like playing YouTube in the background on lock screen. The only way to watch YouTube is with ad blocker on, don't give them a red cent - they're one of the worst companies in Silicon Valley!

So far impossible to cancel – Easy to get into this Youtube Premium subscription after the free 2 week trial. But very difficult to get out of. You have to jump through so many hoops to cancel the subscription. So far I have been working at this for 1 hour with no joy. "Errors" keep popping up when you hit the cancel button. I feel this is bordering on a scam and I plan to take this up with Consumer Affairs in Victoria and with the Victorian Ombudsman

Love it – I love my YouTube premium! I use it daily, mostly to be able to use my phone whilst my music is playing. So great that they offered a free google nest too!
