Cons: Milk frother won't last as long as the espresso side
Overall: We purchased our first machine in 2003 and although the milk frother packed up a it didn't matter as we use a separate milk frother now, but the coffee maker lasted 8 years and sometimes made up to 18 cups per day! We have today purchased the exact same machine from the Good Guys as our last one finally died. Plus 8 years ago it cost $400! So it has cme down in price. Why spend any more than $300 for a first class coffee machine.

Pros: Reliable, easy clean, good crema, nice looking machine.
Cons: Noisy, the inset in the handle is hard to get out.
Overall: This is a very good quality machine, had mine for over 6 months, very reliable. Does great Milk in about 20 to 30 seconds. The one shot is not very strong but the double shot works great! (depends on brand of coffee too) I would have given this a 4 and a half but not able to so I settled for 4

Overall: Bought the machine about 2 years ago. It worked well for what I used it for. Until the seal broke. I called small appliance repair stores in my area and they said they stopped working on Breville products because they can't get parts. Now the machine is discontinued and so are the parts. Breville costumer service agent just said sorry nothing I can do have a nice day. 400.00 down the drain

Overall: I just bought this from Myers just 2 weeks ago and it was on promotion which comes with BCG450 coffee grinder. Ok, I didn't read carefully when doing my first coffee, in which the milk froth can be a bit dangerous if you had no clue and didn't use with the attachment.
Everything else seems spot on with manual control. I feel that I became like some sort of "expert" after a few rounds using Goria Jeans coffee beans. The results are very pleasent, and I love it.
I never understand why people go for Nespresso as that is just a dispensing coffee machine not a real machine.

Overall: Still perfect coffee. I have had every brand of espresso machine and none of them have lasted the distance.I am a heavy user I love coffee and so do my friends & family. I won't list all the expensive & so called top of the range brands. After the last expensive Italian Espresso machine that died and I might add the extended warranty didn't cover it as I was to blame for the way I used it!!
Funny This one is still like new and is still going strong

Can't get the steamer to work on my Breville BES820.Dont know what im doing wrong?
Paul asked on Dec 26, 2011
Hi Paul :) to begin with, make sure the machine is fully heated before turning the steamer dial.
Try running it through on just the water option, because that can unblock it if there's something (limescale usually) built up inside.
Use the small sharp tool Breville supplies to insert in the nozzle, it could be just a small bit of hard milk stuck in the tip. Maybe unscrew the nozzle and soak it in a cup of water?
Failing those, I was told by Breville to use a 5:1 water:white vinegar mix to run through the entire machine, starting in the water chamber, to clear out any limescale or other build up. For complete instructions on that I recommend you call Breville, or check google, as it is a common procedure that many people do.
Good luck!!
