Pros: Reliable, clear photos, lightweight, easy to use
Overall: This is my first SLR camera and I absoloutely love it. It is easy to use, I love the fact that the screen is rotatable and protects it. The photos are so so clear, and it is especially good for taking photos of my baby and pets.I have 3 different lenses and havent worked them out, but each provides a different zoom, and are more affordable if they are purchased in a package

Pros: Easy to use
Overall: A good solid all round camera with HD video option. It is really no different (other then the flip screen) to the 550D, so if you don't use the flip screen, there isn't much point paying the extra.

Pros: Live View
Cons: Very noisy when the live view turns off, so far this is the only negative point
Overall: From the 400D to this the 600D, it has been improved no end. Live view is a very usefully feature for taking pictures over the heads off people in a crowd and down to earth level for macro. SD card is also good, over all a great little camera. A very happy customer, so far.

Pros: Easy to use. Great shots. Nice large screen. More common SD card memory
Cons: Battery life
Overall: So this is my 2nd DSLR replacing my older Canon 350D. After the first DSLR I knew I would always have a DSLR as my main camera, size doesn't matter when your photos look so good.
Size and weight I'm sure are similar to my old and other camera's in this price bracket. Got the twin lens kit so a 18-55 for general use, and the 55-250mm for zooming in and taking those photos that no one expects.

These cameras are fast which is great for photos of kids that never stay in one spot for long. The HD Video recording is great and means you can get away with just one camera, although it doesn't do autofocus and such so its not a complete video camera replacement.

The large screen makes reviewing photos easy, and it also swivels out so you can see it while taking video/pictures of yourself, or you can also swivel it in to protect it when packed in a back.

The battery life is a lot shorter than my old 350D although I think that is due to the large screen, which you can turn off but I guess a trade off of large screen but shorter batter life.

Pros: Image quality, good price, very quick, good features,
Cons: Very loud if you use at quiet moments (but that is a DSLR for you)
Overall: I had spoken to some professional photographers who use high-end Canon cameras - but most have a 550 / 600 on hand as well. They said that the quality for the price couldn't be beaten - and they were right!

As a disclaimer, this is my first DSLR so some of my "wow" factor is due to the fact that the I had a bridge camera before with a much smaller lens. But there is so much to love about the Canon! Picture quality is fantastic, the kit lenses really do the job (until you're ready to upgrade) and the image stabilisation, especially on a telephoto, is superb. I decided on a twin lens kit with an 18-55 and a 55-250. We went to a wedding yesterday and were standing a long way from the bride and groom. My husband used the 55250 lens, held the camera above his head and scored a very professional-looking photo.

Other great things are the ability to take very good quality video, there is virtually no lag - you can snap photos super-fast, screen has great resolution, feels good to hold.

Take the time to read the manual - it's huge, but you'll get so much more out of it if you do. The auto setting works very well in a lot of environments but you'll love your camera more if you learn to use the other settings - start with Av and Tv. As for lenses, don't get too carried away to start with. Try the kit lenses and see how you go. You might also want to consider an external flash, when you're ready. Also look at getting a UV filter to protect your lens from scratches etc.

I bought from Camera Pro (online), service was excellent and much cheaper than local shops.

Wonderful, wonderful camera. You need one!!
