Love It – I researched a lot of DSLR's on line and read reviews and as a novice with DSLR's decided on this one, it is really easy to use, did a weekend DSLR course which helped me immensely, so hardly use the auto modes, took it overseas recently and took over 1200 photos, I purchased a Tamron 18/270 lens for it and it was brilliant, didn't have to change lenses all the time, next time will only buy the body and choose my own lenses Simple and easy to use, takes great shots, found the touch screen a great help when changing aperature/shutter speed/ISO Have now found the aperature and shutter speed boxes in Program mode on touch screen not working, don't know what has happened, Kogan haven't got back to me yet with any help - in a queue I suppose!
Excellent entry level for Canon Lovers – Family members have always been a Canon lover. Brother had predecessor model which was nice. Unlike the previous model, 650d has touch screen controls. Handgrip is pretty comfortable made from rubber. At back the usual big thumb grip area suits well for big people like me. Pixel wise is 18 mpx, it does looks similar to 600d but using an upgraded hybrid CMOS. HDR Backlight Control looks pretty handy for low backlight setting. Well guys, that's my simple review. HDR Backlight Competitor is offering lower price with VR lens. Some has even higher fps.
Excellent DSLR – One of the best entry level DSLR'S. Wasn't sure about the touch screen. But works flawless . Takes good photos. Absolute joy to use. Video mode , good except for noisy autofocus lens. Much quieter than other cameras though ,but microphone picks it up. Happy with the purchase. Happy with the image and video quality. Recommended . Touch Screen Controls
Great entry level DSLR – This camera is a great entry level DSLR. I have been using only point and shoot cameras and wanted to be able to take higher quality photos than what is available to me. You have a few different kit lens options that you can buy with this camera. I bought the 18-135mm kit lens with it. The camera body itself is great. The touch screen feature is nice. I don't really find that I use it while taking photos but use it more when reviewing the photos I have taken. It also makes it easier when you don't want to figure out how to navigate menus and find where to change the settings, you can just use the touch screen and select what you want to change.
The hard part about using the display - and it is the same with most modern cameras - is that it's hard to see the screen when you're out and about. Really frustrating. You can get little hoods you can look through but I wish someone would figure out a way I could see the screen in full daylight.
There are some nice quick easy to reach buttons that allow you to adjust the ISO and aperture on the top of the camera.
One of the most attractive features of this camera is also the video. You need to buy the right lens (a silent zoom one) to use it, but it is a great feature. Some of the other competing cameras at the same level don't have silent zoom or even automatic zoom for video, but this camera does.
With the kit lens I bought it's not possible to do very good macro shots. If that is your thing the best idea is to buy another lens anyway.
I am really happy with the camera so far. It suits my needs perfectly. It is easy to use. The lenses I buy can hopefully be re-used if I do decide to upgrade my camera body later on too. good value for money, well known reputed brand, can share lenses with my photography friends, touch screen display, flip out touch screen, ability to take video.
Great bit of Kit – I've always wanted to upgrade from my Compact Digital to a Digital SLR and I'm glad I did with the 650D. The Canon 650D is a great bit of kit for the weekend snapper to the more experienced photo wiz kids out there. It has a great Macro setting which displays all the finest details I couldn't get with my old compact and comes with a massive touch LCD Monitor. One of the other big pros is Full HD which lets me shoot great movies of the family! Good work Canon!! Massive touch LCD Monitor, Full HD and a great Macro setting

Indeed I can see it becoming a firm favorite with full-frame users, for whom it will offer a slightly wider than normal angle of view.
