great machine – Easy to use, amazing suction, put a longer power cord on it makes life easy,,,,It's like any piece of machinery,it needs attention, clean filters, etc,a little bit like a car!l now have a dc25, even better,a tad noisier, I't's done a lot of hard work his wife did domestic cleaning and he used it on "building sites,'"mate gave it to me,new filters now, good clean, works brilliant,ps,I'm a mechanic and know how important it is to care for machinery, Show details
Designed by someone who has never used a vacuum cleaner – The suction and ability to pick stuff up of the floor is acceptable that's about where it ends. Firstly its an upright vacuum cleaner getting under the edge of anything is impossible along with pushing the entire machine with every stroke is very tiring. The cord constantly gets in the way. To make use of the extension hose requires removing… Read more
the handle withdrawing the solid tube section depressing a small button, remove the rigid tube from the flexible tube, turn it over and push it back into the flexible tube, attach the appropriate fitting. The fittings though are thoughtfully placed in a convenient location. Once the process is finished step away from the vacuum cleaner and the whole thing now comes crashing to the floor as it topples over.
the flexible tubing is very flimsy and subject to breaking away from the ends and splitting - but parts are at least reasonably cheap compared to the nearly $700 price tag when it was new.
On a plus the accessories are conveniently located on the side of the unit and it is bag less.
We use it on both tiles and carpet, around 400m2 and apart from split tubes and the odd broken piece of plastic it has got the job done.
Good but needs filter replacements and to be dismantled for thorough cleaning – Dyson are disingenuous when claiming 'last for a lifetime'. 'Lifetime' means until a couple of years after the next model comes out. I'm guessing at the age of my machine - it was bought long, long ago. But the DC07 is a solid, efficient machine and filters etc are still available on ebay. Youtube offers instructional "how to" movies on quite… Read more · 2
complicated repairs/replacements.
Checking the filters - both of them - is almost mandatory every year or so. If the motor is OK, suction can be restored to 'as new' by dismantling the cyclone chamber. It's all plastic - no danger of damaging electrics) and power hosing the cyclone chambers. It's amazing how much filth can accumulate in them. Dry powder carpet cleaning products are a major culprit I suspect. Thoroughly dry, re-assemble (replace those stupid special screws with ordinary cross heads) and it's good for another 5 years. There's a good video about this on youtube.
The motto should be: "It never has suction!" – I finally took my Dyson into a Dyson repair shop today. I was really tired of having to thoroughly clean it and replace the filters and figure out why it had no suction at least every other time I used it. They found that a slew of parts were worn out, including the clutch. This Dyson has not been used to clean one room more than 20 times in its… Read more
lifetime. How are those parts worn out after just that little use? I'm wondering if I purchased a rebuilt one or an old one but thinking I was being sold a new one??? I purchased it directly from Dyson online. This one lost suction after only two uses originally. I had another vacuum available to me so used that instead of the Dyson for many years because I didn't want to continue spending a minimum of an hour to try to figure out why the Dyson had absolutely no suction and tired of counting on running the vacuum quickly before company came over and then not being able to do so. After working on it for an hour, maybe only three times did I get it to work for a few more rooms. Recently our old faithful vacuum (a Panasonic) broke beyond repair and my husband went online to figure out how to fix the Dyson. He got it to work for another 5 rooms worth of cleaning, although still not great suction. It was working the last time I put it away, but then no suction this last time I needed it. I wish I had had time to take it to be looked at when I first bought it, but I didn't have that kind of time. It was easier, and far more productive, to use a Panasonic that a family member was getting rid of. I've been hearing horror stories from friends and family about Dysons ever since I bought mine. I will add though, that my daughter has had a Dyson for pets for about 3 years and loves hers. She is the only person I've ever heard say they like their Dyson. Just a warning to really research this product before purchasing. So I need to accept that I paid about $20 for every room I vacuumed with it because I've only cleaned 20 rooms with it and paid $400 plus because I also purchased every extra attachment because I thought this would last forever. Not worth the estimated $200 to get it fixed, because I don't trust that it will be fixed correctly. Just have to cut my losses. I can't justify even giving it away.
Hi there, Thank you for reviewing your DC07 model. We… Read more
Makes cleaning carpet a breeze – This is a somewhat clunky model to operate but the sucking power and ease of carpet cleaning more than makes up for a slightly non-user-friendly design. You can clean the most difficult of carpets and not break a sweat! Fabulous for that hard to remove animal hair. A shame there is no cord retraction, but that's a very minor complaint.
16 years and going strong – Bought the DC07 animal new 16 years ago. It was a substantial investment at the time. Best vacuum we've ever owned. Tough, reliable and great suction. You Must keep the rollers clean and front housing. Keep the washable heap cleaned and dried properly. I get a star driver and take cyclone apart once a year and wash out. Great buy!
An excellent vaccum cleaner - not sure why reviews don't reflect it – I've had a Dyson DC07 for many years and it's still going strong in my 3 bedroom house. Has never lost suction, great pick up ability on both carpet and hard floors. Attachments still work and it's easy to clean out. I currently use a competitors vacuum cleaner in my apartment (I wanted something a bit cheaper). Let me tell you, you get what… Read more · 1
you pay for! I want to throw away the competitors vaccum that always looses suction and is a pain to clean out - but i'm hoping for the DC33 to go on sale at target or bigw before I make the switch over.
Highly recommend the DC07 if you can get your hands on one second hand.
Never had a problem – This is the greatest vac I have ever used. It does the job it is meant to do. My friend has a turbo vac and she vacuumed her house throughout and then I vacuumed her home using my Dyson O7 and the dirt collected half filled the container. I use a little detergent and a lot of water to clean the container and filter every 6 months. Have not spent a cent on this vac since I purchased it in 2005. Show 2 replies
Great vacuum – I'm reviewing this because some have reviewed it unfairly. It is a great vacuum. The lifetime HEPA filter needs to be changed after many years of use which is quite understandably. The brush can needs to be cleaned if it has long hair and threads stuck on it. Usually washing the washable filter every few months is all that it needs Great, easy to use Show reply
Did they omit the part about having to clean this vacuum weekly in order no – I agree Dyson give you a false idea that it never looses suction. What they failed to disclose is you need to clean it out all the time and on my DC07 they stated it has washable filter's and the post motor filter is not only permanent but never needs replacing. I since found that this is not true. Mine is about 6 years old and I cleaned it all… Read more
the time but never though about this one lifetime filter. Mine got so clogged up, it put to much strain on the motor, it overheated and shut off. I guess Dyson was counting on this because they used a thermally protected motor so it would shut off before burning out the motor. It will prematurely shorten the life of the motor if it happens to often. When this did shut off, I called Dyson and they said it is a washable filter, when I knew it was not. They said I could take it to a repair shop and have it changed, but at my expense. I said why should I pay for a filter that Dyson says is permanent and Lifetime. So far they offered to repair it if I send it back or send me a new filter. I told them that this is a quick fix or a band-aid , but not a resolution to their false advertising or the long term. I want a vacuum cleaner I believed I didn't have to buy filters for like it they say in my manual and online. It does not state its a limited Lifetime filter, it states Lifetime. So either send me a new he-pa filter every month or provide me with a new vacuum that does have washable filters like the new ones. I will be giving up one feature if I do get a new one, which is the brush clutch. This was a great idea so you would not break belts, but the new ones do not have them. I guess they need to sell more parts. The Brush Clutch which is no longer used & the fact I dont need bags. Need to replace the expensive he-pa filter and clean it all the time to keep it from losing suction. Poor Customer Service

"no loss of suction' PFFT – Dyson's motto is "no loss of suction" HUH!!! Every time I vacuumed I would have to go over it several times before it actually lifted the dirt. The house we live in is mainly tiles and we have the very thin carpet laid down so its not like the vacuum cleaner had to do a big job. It was like this from day 1 when we bought it. I phoned the Dyson… Read more
customer service hotline and the gentleman who answered the phone didnt help. Just told me that I must have put the vacuum cleaner together wrong! Well it certainly didnt help my situation did it! I am very disappointed with the customer service and with the Dyson vacuum cleaner. They state that the have "no loss of suction" well I never once experienced this. Dyson has lost me as a customer. Never buying one again!! This one is a tuffie.....errrm....a pretty colour?!? Too bulky, bad customer service, and Dyson doesnt live up to its slogan "no loss of suction" Dyson has a terrible suction for a $1000 machine sheesh

fantastick – the Dyson dc07 is a good hovver i have one and it is better then my vax mach air force pet it gets eveywere and gets all the dust up of the flower simple to use and it is good for doing the the cars with and for getting the cobwebs
Quality poor for price – I bought this a few years ago new from Harvey Norman. After 1 year and 10 months noticed a smell coming from machine so took it to approved repairer. They claimed there was nothing wrong with it, I got it back, one week after warrenty ran out, the motor burnt out (that was the smell). It cost a couple of hundred dollars to get the repairer to… Read more
change the motor, and the machine has slowly gone down hill since. None of the sections really seal any more as it all has fatigued. So it has lost suction, it is only the rotating brush that picks anything up. Looking at a different brand this time. the way it has been designed quality of parts is poor

Bad – Disappointed. I expectetd much more from this machine. I feel I have had to spend far too much time cleaning the filter (compared to my previous old Miele, which worked fine I dont know why I got rid of it really. Machine does come with a helpline which I have phoned atleast three times and have spent at least 10mins on the phone checking for… Read more
blockages etc (and there have been no blockages) - because it is not working properly, there only solution is to have it serviced. Well I can tell you I am not having it fixed a third time. I'll just pack it up (cause I wont even try and sell it on ebay to some unsuspecting person)and go in search of a better machine! I wont be buying a dyson this time round!
Bulky, awkward to use. And it DOES loose suction - even when filters are cleaned regularly as instructed. Have had to have it serviced twice in five years because it has lost suction At nearly $180.00 each time.
Bad – Expensive gadget - bought it because I thought it was a good investment and no need to use bags (good for the environment) now I am considering replacing it. My husband is furious!! Love the design and worked extremely well for the first 2 years. Now looses suction- had to have it repaired after 2 years which cost alot of money and they same thing has happened again - my husband is not happy!!! Plastic very brittle and the main barrel has broken.
Excellent – So far we have loved this vacuum cleaner and compared to our old one it is a thousand times better. We vacuumed with out old cleaner before we went got this out of the box then did it again straight away after setting this up and it was amazing the amount it picked up off "already cleaned carpets" and wow the amount it cleaned out of our mattress… Read more · 2
was amazing. We have had it about 5 years and it is still going strong and is used about twice a day with a 3yr old and a 10 month old our floors need constant attention and with the dyson they are getting a thorough cleaning. No loss of suction when barrel is full. Easy to empty. Easy to access attachments that are found on the vacuum itself which is much better than searching for them when needed. Hair gets caught around the brushes underneath which i guess is a good things cause it means it is picking it all up but cleaning it is a little yuk having to mostly cut the tangles of hair off it. A little pricey.
Terrible – This is the probably worst buy I can remember. This Dyson vacuum cleaner is expensive ($700), but any cheap 50 bucks vacuum cleaner betters it's performance. As you can't get in corners or close to walls, you need to use the retractable hose. Comes out clumsy, even harder to replace, doesn't bent where it should, very awkward to use. No need to… Read more
mention that using the hose suction is still below par!
I still had an very old antique vacuum cleaner, the type that slides on 2 bars and where you can connect the hose at the front(suck) and back(to blow). I kept that for nostalgic reasons. Thank God I did.
I had to use it again, several times, and after more than 60 years it still does the work more than efficient! Don't take any risk, forget about this Dyson and probably every upright Dyson! Their philosophy is just wrong!
If you're looking for an easy way to get rid of your hard earned cash, just throw it in the gutter. That way at least someone else has a good time of it!
Don't make a mistake here, I meant every word of the above! Really, there is nothing to like about this vacuum cleaner. When you look at it, knowing it's performance, you feel desperate, frustrated and powerless! Heavy use. Impossible to get close to the corners, walls etc. as construction doesn't allow reaching them. It does not suck properly (dust, hair left everywhere), but it SUCKS, if you know what I mean! Apart from that the plastic breaks easily! The retractable hose is an absolute disaster to use.
Mine lost suction after 6 months. The motor burnt out after 12 months. Motor is easy to replace -… Read more (+1 reply)
I love my vacuum – Getting on for 10 years old now, my vacuum is still going great! I have never had a problem with it and i am still disturbed my how much dirt come out of the rug and carpet every time i use it. i will never get another brand It works so well Was expensive, but well worth it

push in clips. push these clips in and at the same time lift the plate. A little bit awkward but it will come off. be carefull not to brake the clips. Wash the filter with a hose pipe and leave to dry in a shaded area for a day or so or buy a new one. Check hose under vacuum and if broken replace.
My dc07 was cutting out after abought 5 - 10min use and getting very hot. Did the above - cleaned the filter and fit new hose "same size" (doesn't have to be dyson)- now I can go round the whole house without it cutting out.
Hope this helps all those with dysons before you through them out. Give it a go before you buy a new vacuum. Good Vacuum when I bought this 5 years ago. Hepa filter under cylinder and also filter fitted to side on machine of which you should wash every 6 months. Dyson or should I say the sales man/woman says the hepa filter will never need replacing. All you have to do is wash the side filter thats all they no. Send it to dyson for a service and it will cost you a fortune.
Forever your best friend – I had my Dyson for at least 10yrs before it started to lose it's power. Easy to use, plenty of options with the extra turbo head, the expandable tube will reach into many low and high places. Massive suction and power, so easy to clean and empty being bagless and simple filters to clean. An amazing cleaner. Powerful, great suction, long lasting A little big to store.
Excellent – I have had this vacuume now for three years and the hose did split once(from being to rough though) but a quick phone call and a new one was sent and have had no problem since with the hose, aslo the brush stem on the bottom cracked it was out of warrenty but it was also replaced without question or charge! The only time you would loose suction is… Read more
if you dont clean out the filter every couple of months Great suction, easy to use and the attachment are easily assessable and the warrenty service is second to none It is a little heavy
Good – When it was new it worked great, was easy to use and did a great job on the hard floors. It had a pretty hard life, when I got it we were starting to build our house and had no kids, by the time it died it had cleaned up all the building messes and I had a 2 and 4 year old. It probably sucked up a fair bit of water without me meaning to. … Read more
Customer service was fantastic, just a phone call away and very willing to help out. It ended up having a problem with the motorhead after it was out of warranty and Dyson paid for the postage and fixed it for free. I have bought a new Dyson DC33 that is good but I'm not quite as happy. No bags, customer service is EXCELLENT!Great if you want to do hard floors as well as carpet, easy to use for cleaning cobwebs from ceilings and little spaces between furniture. Had a few problems that may have been due to it being overused (I used it every day and it had to suck up the mess from building an entire house over the years) It seemed to be overheating before finally not working at all after 6 years. The hose kept cracking but there is a 2 year warranty on parts so I kept getting it replaced for free.

Terrible – Never again, after just a few weeks things started falling off of it and braking, totally impractical for many applications, heavy, over priced, motor failed just outside warranty period, terrible quality, vastly overated
Bad – Poor excuse for a vacuum cleaner. I was fooled by the transparent plastic modern looks and presumed that high price means quality. It doesn't. Stay clear! Upright, no bags to replace Head becomes tangled by dental floss, dog hair etc and needed replacement. Suction becomes poor. Extremely noisy, doesn't get into the corners.
Terrible – I'd never buy another Dyson, it's too expensive, the pre motor filter becomes clogged and needs washing after each use. It loses suction contrary to advertisments, frequently overheats and leaves a distinctive post vacuuming smell. Was repaired once under warranty, when still relatively new. Now at 5 years since purchase the Hepa filter needs… Read more
replacing as it is clogged and disintegrating, and there is a burning plastic smell after a few minutes use.
It's now 5 years old, an expensive heap of junk. I bought the BC07 because it was recommended by a friend. It had great suction first time used, easy to empty collection cylinder Overheats frequently. Hepa Filter becomes clogged and doesn't last the lifetime of the machine, it becomes clogged and can't be cleaned, and causes very poor suction performance even with clean pre motor filter.
Terrible – Excellent performance Operating life (for Price) VERY VERY POOR Based on advice of repairer, I would not consider purchasing Dyson again or in the near future. The only reason I purchased in the first place was to get away from cost of BAG REPLACEMENT in a MIELE I have now owned for 14 YEARS; and still going strong. Excellent performance… Read more
Lasted 24 months (4 months out of warranty) ;motor burnt-out. Advised by outhorised repairer (laughed when I stated my concern)"stating I was lucky it lasted as long and to repair it would cost $235-00".He added the later models were not manufactured in the UK and operating life/quality, would be less again.Filtering maintained on a monthly bases so there was no reason for motor burn-out due to dust ingress.
Good – Great product. I haven't had any issues at all. If you look after it, expect it to last ages! I would certainly buy another Dyson if I had to. Sucking power is great. Picks up dog hair and some. Handy tools on board when you need them. It is really easy to empty with the pull of a lever the bottom opens and all the dust etc drops out into your… Read more
bin! Expensive. If you are not respectful to your things then you will probably break one of these. I look after my things so have avoided breaking the dyson. If there are ladies in the house with long hair, then the turbo brush will need to be cleared a fair bit.
Good – Fantastic. We live on a main road, and a lot of dirt blows into the house. The Dyson works really well to clean the carpets - much better than our previous cheapie vacuum cleaner. We also have 2 long haired dogs, and the amount of dog hair that is sucked off the carpet is (disgustlingly) amazing. It is easy to empty the dirt container, and easy to… Read more
see when it needs to be emptied. It cost a lot, but is well worth the money Brilliant at sucking up dog hair from the carpet. Looks good. Easy to use. It cost a lot.
Terrible – Excellent suction performance at first but vacume cleaner is 3 years old now and performance is poor even if filters are clean. The second Dyson we have owned and I shouldn't of been talked into it by my wife as the first one was an absolute disaster. I think there are better products around for less money. Design Looses suction performance Poor choice of plastics, brittle had to return 1 to shop on purchase as broken in box Too expensive
Excellent – I love my Dyson, I've had it for at about 7 years & would never buy another brand. The customer service is OUTSTANDING - my Dyson has just been back for a service (first ever) and needed lots of repairs (this is due to YEARS of hard work and some pretty rough treatment by the kids!) - Dyson did a quick, professional job & gave us $80 in "goodwill discounts" off the total bill. We have also been supplied with complimentary filters in the past.
Good – I really like this vacuum- it actually makes cleaning a lot more fun (and quicker too). When I get another vacuum it will definitely be a dyson- I have my eye on the smaller, lighter ones. This is a great vacuum, and I haven't had any problems with it. It has great attachments that make it so easy to clean anything easily. It is heavy, but it… Read more

Excellent – my mum has the same dyson vacuum as this one here. I think it is a fantastic vacuum it sucks up almost everything little on the ground! i don't really like it when mum is using the vacuum because it makes a little to much noise. it sucks up almost every thing it annoys me wen i watch tv
