3 Liss24  · It's great when it doesn't clog up – It works great when it doesn't clog up the head with hair and pet hair. Other than that it's great
5 GC Renter  · Really good machine! – If you want a multi floor all rounder then this is the one to get. Good long term value for money.
5 Toffi.B  · Wonderous – Wonderous that is what this vacuum cleaner is, just wonderous. Easy to use, picks up dirt i didn't know was there. A must buy.

This machine is interesting, in a good way – I obtained the Dyson DC50 back in 2016, and I must say that it is very impressive, I have been a loyal Dyson customer for quite a while, and I absolutely love their products. When I first brought it, the instructions and assembly were very simple I will give that. The bagless empty system is incredible, although I find it frustrating that I have… Read more ·  1

to dig my hand into the bin to pluck out the dirt that is stuck, the suction is really good although I find that the vacuum is relatively loud considering it is called the "Small Ball". I live in a one-story house, so the stretch hose is very useful for cobwebs, base boards top and bottom, and being able to detach the wand and attach the upholstery tool, or combination tool. The head is able to pull out the imbedded dirt that is deep in the carpet fibres, although over time the black carbon filtered bristles have disintegrated and aren't preforming as well as they used too.

There are a few minor details that make this machine lose a star, the filters are good yes, but the carbon filter says to be washed! When it has been washed the filter seems to be more clogged than before (After being dried of course) and then makes the machine get really hot at the ball base.

Around last year I found it was not picking up as well, so I did some research, as I already do maintenance and repairs on vacuums, I had a T15 and T10 torx, so I took apart the cyclone, and oh my gosh I have never seen that much dust build up!

Overall, this vacuum is perfect for people with weak arms, but not suitable for really tall people. Hope for Dyson to bring back the small balls and possibly add the digital motor and battery! I do hope that Dyson take this idea into consideration as some people prefer upright cordless vacuum cleaners.

Cheers. Bloxian.B

Total Rubbish – We bought a dyson vacuum D50 approx 5 years ago believing that you only get what you pay for. Well we paid $400 but recieved a vacuum that i believe to be worth $50. The machine would not click onto the stand when not ising it. It was just out of warranty and i will give Dyson credit for repairing it free of charge . However , the vacuum head is… Read more

now broken and will require $100 to be spent on new part. I will be purchasing a bagless vacuum for between $50 - $100 that has less moving parts to break. Even if it does break , i can simply replace it at thst price, not $400 for a Dyson . Very disappointed in the Dyson vacuum and will never purchase another product from them.

Not surprised this has been discontinued – I purchased this Dyson DC50 Origin from The Good Guys. Whilst I have been perfectly happy with the service I received from The Good Guys, this vacuum has been extremely disappointing. It falls over at every opportunity and the suction has been extremely poor. I have had to replace the turbo head as the bristles disappeared- not sure if they fell… Read more

out or wore out. The head also cracked. I had to replace the hose too, as it broke. The crevice nozzle is designed with a hole/ slot and is useless at sucking up dirt or fluff etc from crevices, edges or small spaces. I have purchased Dyson vacuum cleaners since they first came out and my first ever Dyson was fantastic. Every subsequent model I have purchased has been poorer and poorer quality. The only reason this vacuum has lasted until now is because I purchased another brand and have been using that. This Dyson died yesterday and I will not be purchasing another. I am not opposed to Dyson- I have a Dyson cooling fan that I am very happy with and would happily recommend that but after a succession of disappointing vacuum cleaners, I will never purchase another Dyson vacuum. Although this model is discontinued there may be discount stores still selling the odd model- hence this review. I also believe Dyson need to take on board feedback from their customers.

Incredible Mechanics – Carpet to tiles, this machine is amazing. It makes tedious work bearable. The suction is amazing in that you go over a surface once instead of three or four times. I would never go to a conventional vacuum cleaner again. Show details

This is the best vac we have ever had. It is our third Dyson model and we wouldn't consider any other manufacturer – We use the DC50 for all our floors which are tiles and carpets. It is very easily to clean and empty, even the filters are easy to take out, clean & put them back in. Show details

Good so far – This is good for my apartment. Easy to store. Cleans pretty well and only takes me a few minutes to vacuum the whole apartment which is almost all carpeted. I also use it to clean my sofa. It has small attachments which help cleaning tiny corners. A little bit heavy to lift.  Show details

Good alround vacuum but – I use this on all floors, I have two cats and the spinning brush thing works great picking up hair off couch tops and carpet/wood floors. I feel this vacuum lacks suction power compared to other Dysons I have got in the past. The machine feels heavy and is not great getting in to corners or under tight spaces. Worst vacuum I've ever used – I used my partners Dyson dc50 today for the first time after moving in together and omg it was useless. The short stick part dosent even reach the top of the couch I had it lift the whole vacuum up onto the couch .and then it didn't really suck as there was still cat fur everywhere.it was good on the floor for a quick vac over but not for getting into corners on getting cob webs down. Il be using my trusty old vacuum from now on .  Show details

The worst piece of machinery I've ever used – I'm 45 minutes into cleaning my kitchen and am not even close to finishing. The machine was refusing to suck, but after pulling apart the vacuum cleaner as per the Youtube video and ensuring every single joint was spotless (not that there was a lot of dirt in there to start with) it began to work, even if very poorly. Every 10-15 seconds it would… Read more

stop sucking again and I'm forced to fiddle around with it to get it to work again. After about 5 minutes of solid work doing this it stopped sucking, seemingly for good, and began spitting out everything it had picked up in the last few minutes back onto the floor. It's literally making the house dirtier.

Piece of Junk – Worked fine for a while but then stopped working after a couple of months. Would not pick up. Forget taking anything back to Harvey Norman they don't want to know they just refer you to Dyson who then try to talk you through fixing over the phone. This was useless from day one – Have had a Dyson DC50 for about two years. Lighter than the old one it replaced but noisy. We use this to clean laminate flooring and it is TRULY hopeless at picking things up.This is the primery use of a vacume cleaner. Works on carpet slightly better. Filter always choking up.Would liked to have writen a good review ,but sadly the product is not fit for purpose.  Show details

My old Dyson DC8 was far superior – My husband purchased the DC50 for me after my old faithful DC8 died. At first I thought that I was being a bit over critical because I was used to my old DC8 so I persisted using it. Unfortunately, 3 years later and I still get frustrated with the DC50- hair gets caught in numerous places, blocking the tubing and stopping it from sucking properly.… Read more

It seems to have problems picking up any particles larger than everyday dust and it’s hopeless on my hard floors.

Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend the DC50.

Don't expect a long life – Suction was good, a very noisy machine, quite heavy to move, difficult to manoeuvre, light residential use only lasted 4 years, customer service is limited online instructions on how to unravel brushes and wash and change filters yourself, mine ceased picking up and cost of repair is similar to new machine, I expected more from a machine with such a high price tag, extremely disappointing.  Show details

Good vacuum – Happy with the suction but could be better. Very light so Im fine with the trade off. Picks up well on floorboards, tiles and carpet. Reasonable easy to move but wish I went for the barrel one. Easy to remove and empty the dust bin and haven't had to wash the filter yet.  Show details

Great suction and hair don’t stick in the brush – The suction is extremely good no complaints whatsoever. The carpet brush remains clean throughout the course of vacuuming. I have seen some upright vacuums have issues with hair getting tangled in their carpet brushes - but not this Dyson. It’s not quiet for sure but I don’t expect it to be especially if it’s got good suction capability. Wire is long enough. I recommend this product.  Show details

Disappointed – I bought this item when it was full price at $1150 @harvey norman online. Delivery was fast but after using it a few times, i was impressed at the suction but it was a bit heavy for me. I had to return the machine to dyson 6 times for small repairs. After using my friends shark, i will never spend that kind of money on a vacuum. I expected more from a big company like dyson.  Show details

Best so far – Love this vacuum cleaner, it is the best I ever owned so far. It has great suction and if easy to maneuver on carpet as well as tiles and wooden floors. Another plus for me is that it is bag less so less waste and this also makes it easy to see and to pick my sons lego out of the vacuum after I accidently sucked it up.  Show details

Great Suction – I bought a Dyson Multi Floor when on sale at BigW of all places. I haven't had much luck with vacuum cleaners in the past, probably because I either bought cheap, or was sucked in by a sales person into buying something I didn't want, usually for too much money, only to get it home to find that it was no different to the last disaster. however, is brilliant. I've had it for 5 months now and it is still working fantastically. Having recently moved into a brand new house and wanting to protect the carpets as much as possible and also having 2 teenage girls with extremely long hair and it gets everywhere and into everything. The turbo head on the Dyson makes sure I get every piece of hair off the floor and the attachments get into everything else.

The only down side of this cleaner is that it's a little on the heavy side, but this is a small issue when compared to how good it is. I've heard that Dyson make the best and if tis unit is any indication, I have no reason to doubt that. It's worth paying a little more to protect your investment you made in your house and floor coverings

Great suction but very heavy – Great suction on this vacuum. It's excellent for carpets or rugs. It works very well for vacuuming up dog or animal hair. It works well on surfaces like concrete, tiles or floor boards however it's very loud when used on hard surfaces. It is also very heavy and can be difficult to maneuver. It's size makes it difficult to get underneath furniture or behind corners and doors etc.  Show details

Good Vacuum Cleaner – We bought this vacuum cleaner almost 2 and half years ago and never looked back. the floor.

Easy to clean and does not take much time.

It is light to use and easy to maneuver. It can be a bit clumpsy in the beginning till you get used to it, which shouldn't take more than a week or so.

Does not take much space and can be stacked in a corner which is great.

Happy with the product so far and would definitely go for dyson, if I had to buy another one.

machine has never missed a beat, still sucks as hard as it did from day dot, the only cons i can think of is the section where you need to use the single suction hose, gets a bit tiring trying to lug around a big vacuum while your trying to clean, but it's worth the lug due to the powerful suction in a single go.

Definitely recommended if you have a big house and require to vacuum quiet often.

Very efficient vacuum – This vacuum is very efficient and sucks up a lot of dirt. It is very easy to empty and the extra nozzles that come with vacuum have been great for reaching tight spaces. My only complaint is when taking out removal extended attachment part to vacuum was difficult to figure out and can be often hard to manover. Still a great vacuum cleaner.  Show details

Excellent vacuum for a smaller abode – Excellent quality product. The vacuum canister is simple to dismantle and clean. Noticed a marked improvement in my asthma condition within a week of using this vacuum to clean my carpets and couches. Definitely more suited to a smaller household, but just as powerful and useful as the bigger Dyson vacuums.
