Pros: Strong suction, easy to move around, great attachments.
Overall: We purchased this vacuum cleaner today to replace our existing one that just wasn't performing. After hearing so much about Dyson cleaners we did our research & decided upon this unit. I would have to say that we are really amazed with how much dust & dirt this cleaner pulled from our carpets. I couldn't fault this machine, we are so pleased that we spent the extra money of purchasing this Dyson. It moves around well, has very useful attachments and is compact enough to fit into our cupboard. Overall we are thrilled with our purchase.

Pros: Very light, maneuverable and old accessories fit with adapter. Great customer service.
Cons: Emptying the bin is very dusty and not easy, prefer old method. Can't stand it on its end, so tricky to fit into small cupboard. Floor tool doesn't pick up larger lumps without lifting the tool off the floor.
Overall: I previously owned a Dyson telescopic vacuum that was 9 years old and lived through 4 renovations before finally dying. During that time I fould Dyson to never lose suction and be excellent in all ways. I was very excited when the new vacuums came out but disapointed that the telescopic wand was gone except on the motorised head vacuum.

The vacuum definitely sucks very well and doesn't lose suction. I find the wand extremely maneuverable and love the lightness when pulling it around my house. Also they have extended the cord. The wand hose needs to be longer as you cannot stand this vacuum on its back and it makes reaching high areas difficult and also you can no longer easily fit this away in a small cupboard.

The attachments are fantastic and extremely easy to change.

The emptying of the bucket is the biggest letdown of this new model. My old dyson would click apart completely and when full of dust I would hit it pretty hard against my bin to empty it. The new dyson has a one click button which flips the base down. This is difficult to empty because the dirt stays on the flap and you have to tap it out. Also the space around the volcano tubes (or whatever it is called) is so small dust gets caught and you have to use a stick or knife to get it out.

When vacuuming bits of dirt can get stuck in the seam and the dirt stops spinning and builds up on one side rather than at the bottom and this makes you empty it more often.

I also find putting the bin back on the new model is quite tricky to line it up properly.

Although there are improvements in the maneuverability of the wand and it looks great. I believe this model is not an improvement on previous models and I would go back a model if I could.

Pros: Great turbo head for carpet. Love that it is bagless.
Cons: Not happy with the head for hard floors. Annoying to have to swap heads between floor surfaces.
Overall: We had previously purchased a Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner so when upgrading our main vacuum we decided to stick with Dyson.

Overall I am happy with it, but there are things about it that do annoy me.

I love the fact that it is bagless. It is relatively easy to empty although sometimes fluff and pet hair get stuck between the filter and the sides and I have to smack the sides or use a stick to get it out.

The turbo head is amazing on carpet, and brilliant at getting pale pet fur off the rugs.

However, I don't like the fact that you can't use the same head on all floor surfaces, as you could with our previous Miele vacuum cleaner. I also find that the head for smooth floors seems to be okay for picking up dust and fluff, but not so great at sucking up heavier things like little bits of gravel or bark tracked in from the garden. I prefer our handheld Dyson for hard surfaces any day.

The cord is also relatively short.

I have to say that in general I prefer our old Miele, but like the Dyson due to it being bagless.

Pros: Light, easy to use, great cleaning, fantastic design
Cons: Power cord a tad too short
Overall: Very light and easy to use vacuum with excellent suction and standard features. The triggerhead tool works very well and a smaller version is included for upholstery. Hard floor tool perfect on tiles. All connections are secure and interchange with a minimum of effort. Disconnecting and reconnecting bin very simple. Downsides?? The cord for a family vacuum could have been 2-3 metres longer and you will need to empty the bag outside into a generous sized garbage bag to avoid dropping dust etc inside the house. If you own a "bagged" vacuum get used to more frequent stops to empty the bin but that is offset by not having to buy bags. Apart from those couple of minor issues I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this product to anybody.

Pros: Good suction, guides easily and is not heavy
Cons: Expensive, and could do with a longer cord
Overall: The Dyson cleans extremely well. I have a Miele which I thought was doing a good job, but the Dyson seems to clean better. The attachment to do non-carpet floors is great, does not scratch. The dust compartment is small and I find I have to empty it after each room, but that isn't a problem to me. The saving on bags will be a big bonus. So far so good.

Pros: EVERYTHING
Overall: I have been bitten in the past with CHEAP Vacuum cleaners. My first was a Nilfisk, and only lasted 2 years, followed by a Sanyo just over 1 year and my previous was a Dyson DC05, which is still going strong after 10+ years. I now use it in the shed and outdoor pergola area.

Now to this BEAST... LOVE it is all I can say. My 7 year old son even gets it out and uses it. The Power Head makes it a Breeze to vacuum all over the carpet areas. With a Hard Floor Tool also provided it makes cleaning the entire house easy. The container is amazingly simple to empty with the touch of a button. I thought my old Dyson was good, but this is even better. The Ball wheel makes it simple that it follows you around tight corners so you dont get caught up. No loss of suction picks up the smallest pieces of dirt.

I did a trial by vacuuming the house with the DC05, then straight after went to work on doing the house with the DC39, and was amazed that even after cleaning the house with the DC05, the DC39 was nearly FULL of dirt.

Do yourself a favour and get this one, it ROCKS
