Pros: Great suction on carpet! I like getting an upper arm workout at the same time as vacuuming.
Cons: A bit tricky to find a neat spot for storage, don't like how the stem sits on the ball...
Overall: Just used our Dyson today after wanting one for a very long time! Purchased this one as they had an extended warranty promo and the price was reduced (and we also just got a cat!). Overall, it picks up dust, dirt and hair extremely well and it does give your arms a workout with maneuvering it as the suction is quite strong on carpet! Works ten times better than your average vacuum cleaner as the dust pick up is brilliant.
Overall: I really thought that this product is good. But it turns out to be really full of [censored word removed]. Its very hard to manouver around carpet. It gets stuck around furnitures and corners. Its very heavy to push and pull around carpets. Now i have to swap heads with the turbine. I'm not happy with this product.

Pros: Easy to manoeuvre, easy to empty, good suction.
Cons: Watch out for scratches when down low vacuuming under furniture.
Overall: This is our first Dyson and overall, pretty happy with its performance so far. We have mostly wooden floors and tiles with a couple of carpeted rooms, so one thing I was looking for was something that wouldn't scratch the wooden floor boards.
I have noticed that if I'm not careful (say, vacuuming in a hurry), something on the foot scratches the wood when vacuuming underneath furniture, the bed etc. Once I was aware of this I was more careful and then didn't have the problem. These scratches aren't deep and will buff out with some elbow grease.

Pros: light and easy to move, does a wonderful job!
Overall: This vac has cleaned better than any of our previous vac's!
its light and easy to manouver, the rotating bristle head helps get out dirt from in all the carpet fibres, and its easy to empty and put back together. no need to purchase bags is another fantastic feature.
The added upholstery rotating head brush is also fantastic and makes cleaning under the cushion a quick and pain free job, all over vac's used to leave dirt.
Overall: I was very excited to buy my dyson as friends had raved about them. I am defintely pleased with the way it picks up dirt and I like the way I can see it filling up the clear plastic cylinder but it is still a very bulky unit that doesn't turn well and hits the walls and is quite heavy.

Cons: I found it difficult to move at first, takes a lot of upper strength.
Overall: If you want a vacuum cleaner with power then this is your best friend. When adding a turbine head for pet hair it is exceptionally good. The only draw back with this product is actually its suction, it would not be recommended for the elderly or people with not a lot of strength.

I am wondering if there is special attachment required for the use of wooden floor boards? I feel as though when I vacuum, it is suctioned to the ground..any hints?
Not that I'm aware of, at least not one that comes with the vacuume (may have to purchase it seperately if it exists). I don't have that problem with it suctioning to the wooden floors. Maybe if you open up the air vent it will lessen the suction.
The Pet/Allergy one comes with the hardwood floors head. its basically a bristled head that you put on in place of the motor head. it is available seperately to purchase.
