Good for Beginners – Very basic camera with easy to use functions. Picture quality is superb which is expected from Nikon. Lightweight and portable. Good size, good quality photos. Very "plasticy"
Fabulous, easy to use, quality camera – I love my D3000. It was bought for me in late 2009 and was a massive upgrade from the 'point and shoot' Cannon that I was using previously. This takes fantastic pictures and has many useful settings- great for a beginner. It has an advantage over other entry level DSLRs because of it's metal lens mounts, Cannon has plastic mounts which aren't as… Read more
well made as the Nikon. Definitely be buying another Nikon in future. Easy to use, solid construction, metal lens mounts Doesn't work with all lenses
Excellent – The only real reservation i have about this camera is the lack of liveview - but not having it increases battery life so i guess its a win/lose situation. I don't mind having to use the viewfinder - i actually prefer it so its not too big a problem. The pros are pretty much as listed - the user manual the comes with the camera is great - step… Read more
by step instructions on how to use the different features - adjusting ISO, aperture, shutterspeed although playing around with these features is the best way to learn. The 'standard' settings are really well done as well, takes great photos in all conditions, perfect for beginners. The quality of photos is really good.
I found the design quite ergonomic and comfortable, the buttons and dials are easy to reach from the standard grip position, good for adjusting quickly/on the go.
For the price this is an excellent camera. If you have the money consider going up a model and getting liveview and video capability. However don't feel 'cheap' going for this option as it really is excellent value. solid feel, easy to use, dials easy to reach from 'standard grip', intuitive menu system, great manual, cheap, takes great pictures, excellent battery life, standard lens mount - can use variety of lenses. no liveview
Excellent – This was my 1st DSLR after much research and I have been very pleased with my purchase. I found the user manual to be very easy to follow and with no previous experience I was able to comfortably shoot in manual, making full use of aperture, shutter and ISO settings, very quickly. The sensor produces excellent quality 10.2MP images. The camera… Read more
is light enough that I can have it round my neck all day and barely notice. The battery life is very good, too.
The one downside I have found is that the Apeture, Shutter etc information is only available on the back LCD or through the viewfinder. I would like to be able to see this info on top of the camera, too, near the shutter release.
My wife would also like to be able to use the LCD screen to preview shots, but I don't mind this as I like the viewfinder as is.
A great camera for the price. Had it for a few months now and thousands of shots in, I couldn't be happier! Affordable; easy to use; good sized LCD for image playback and information Lack of information LCD on the top of the camera body
Great for first time DSLR user – Was my first DSLR camera. Its very simple to useand quite easy to get the hang of. Takes great photos that even look perfessional, I let my 6yr old sister use it and they even turn out perfect for her. Its a little heavy but if you use the strap to hold it up, makes you feel safer. The simlisity of it - and great snaps. Mine didnt come with a case so some extra spending was involved.
Excellent – 2 thumbs up! You feel like a professional using this camera, it is so hard to try and pick out better photos for albums. No one should feel nervous about being able to handle this camera. How easy it is to use. I'm a beginner with this kind of camera, in the past having owned normal aim and shoot cameras. This camera is very user friendly I have… Read more
taken many photo's of my children or landscape type shots and they look so wonderful. I haven't actually got anything I do dislike about this camera, put in a shop given a choice of any camera this is the one I'd pick again.
