Superb performance, competes with cameras 3 times the price – From day dot I fell in love with this Camera and have taken it on every outdoor adventure that I go - because you never know when the perfect moment may arise! I purchased a 35mm nikon prime lens which is my go to lens. There are so many features that I still haven't even used yet. I'm not a professional, nor have I read any books on photography.… Read more

I have just enjoyed experimenting for myself and learning tips of other photographers. I have since won a number of photography comps, had my pics published in calendars and one displayed on the outer wall of a large building.

The level of detail is incredible, especially considering this is an entry level camera. I could go into further detail about each setting and the performance but I don't find that necessary. Purchasing a camera is a personal choice and everyone has different tastes or a particular brand they want to stick with. But I will say to anyone looking to buy their first camera that I would recommend this hands down (or the latest model 3400). It has no major faults, in fact I haven't even found anything minor to critique and the battery lasts literally forever - I can shoot for days before having to recharge.

Im a Happy Snapper – This Nikon is PACKED with multi functions to give you the best pics from speedy action to soft portraits. This camera has given me some of the best pictures over time and im still experimenting with the Multi Functions mode system (effects) which is very precise in capturing "THE PERFECT PICTURE" + Great for beginners-easy operation-comes in red - Video mode has low resolution-no manual aperture control  Show details

Total Rubbish at an extraordinary price! – As I was dissatisfied with the level of detail I couldn't get on my CANON point-and-shoot, that I bought for $99 from Officeworks - which I always thought was a good camera, I decided to take the plunge and buy a "good camera" I had always wanted a CANON EOS but I was talked out of it by a few people who pointed out the additional costs of having… Read more

obsolete lenses, whereas Nikon lenses would always fit.

I wanted to move up into professional photograph taking with awesome photos.

I bought a NIKON D3300 recommended to me by a former professional photographer and friend. The reviews on this camera and lenses were glowing, particularly for "close-ups" of things like "flowers" and "Insects". I along with the body I got a 50mm f1.8 lens and an 18-300mm zoom lens. The package cost me over $2000 delivered - a massive amount of money for a pensioner. I soon expected to be able to start taking amazing macro shots. The package came quickly - just 10 days from China (faster than Australia Post) I collected my package on 30th Jan and was taking photos the following day. Despite reading ALL the paperwork, it quickly became apparent the lenses had problems with auto-focus. The 50mm lens did not zoom in any way shape or form, and was pretty useless to me for the sort of photos I want. The bigger zoom lens was fine for taking photos of ducks on a pond some 20 feet away but a spider 5 inches away? Forget it! I tried again today, using a tripod, good lighting and both lenses. The 50mm cannot take anything macro and is totally useless. The Zoom lens needs to be so far away or it will not focus at all! Many times despite a green Lv frame, I could not press the capture button. The output quality is totally crap. My $99 Canon takes better macros than this expensive pile of junk.

Perfect for Beginners, Fun for Enthusiasts – Nikon has really done it this time! They have built a successor that actually boasts a great amount of growth. This camera produces great shots, day or low-light, and has great effects for those who like to be creative. The video is also something that is impressive. Now, to the nitty-gritty... The decision to keep the sensor resolution in the… Read more

D3300 was great because it shows better shots. The support for lenses are still great as they have kept the DX lens format.

The body is lightweight, which really helps when working with telephoto lens. The screen is acceptable given the price constraints that seem to be presented. The lack of physical pointer support (touch support) is something that isn't felt since the User Interface is built well enough.

Now to the features that people actually want to hear... (Not really)

The camera comes with support for manual ISO control, shutter speed control (up to 30 seconds), manual aperture control (only in Aperture Priority, and Manual Control) and compensation for both flash and exposure. These features really add to the experience that makes the product great.

There are quirks that come with a great product. This is the case when it comes to the build and certain feature limitations. For example, the body does not have manual aperture control and the DX format (which refers to a cropped-frame sensor). Another thing, pinpointing an object in Auto Focus can be a nightmare when selecting an object to track due to no touch support.

Never mind the minor quirks, the camera is definitely something to get you in to the photography profession.

Pros: Incredible performance in price range, Familiar resolution sensor with better performance,

Cons: Limited resolution options for video, No manual aperture control from lens, there is no proximity sensor to help switch the screen off when looking through the viewfinder and, no touch screen support doesn't help with the Auto Focus functionality.
